It is found that with increasing power, the measured electron energy distribution by Langmuir probe evolves into a Druyvesteyn-like electron energy distribution in the low-pressure regime of 1mTorr in a small inductively coupled plasma. Electron bounce resonance is introduced to explain the transition of the electron energy distribution against the rf power, The energy diffusion coefficients which determine the shape of the electron energy distribution in elastic range are calculated with and without electron bounce resonance. This electron energy distribution transition is well explained by the electron bounce resonance.
Recent advances in low-power sensors and transmitters are driving the search for standalone power sources that utilize unused ambient energy. These energy harvesters can alleviate the issues related to the installation and maintenance of sensors. Particularly piezoelectric energy harvesters, with the ability to convert ambient mechanical energy into useful electricity, have received significant attention due to their high energy density, low cost and operational stability over wide temperature and pressure conditions. In order to maximize the generated electrical power, the natural frequency of the piezoelectric energy harvester should be matched with the dominant frequency of ambient vibrations. However, piezoelectric energy harvesters typically exhibit a narrow bandwidth, thus, it becomes difficult to operate near resonance under broadband ambient vibration conditions. Therefore, the resonating of energy harvesters is critical to generate maximum output power under ambient vibration conditions. For this, energy harvesters should have broadband natural frequency or actively tunable natural frequency with ambient vibrations. Here, we review the most plausible broadband energy harvesting techniques of the multi-resonance, nonlinearity, and self-resonance tuning. The operation mechanisms and recent representative studies of each technique are introduced and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed. In addition, we look into the future research direction for the broadband energy harvester.
Time resolved phosphorescence of Dibromobenzophenone (DBBP) choleic acid crystal was observed at 4.2 K as functions of excitation energy and delay time. The experimental results reveal that the energy transfer efficiency is dependent on the excitation energy, i.e. the density of acceptors sites. As the excitation energy or delay time increases, the resonance phosphorescence does not broaden and shift gradually, rather a broad luminescence band develops about 290 cm?1 to lower energy of the resonance phosphorescence. The observation implies that energy transfer from high to low energy sites in this system is controlled by emission of phonons or vibrons. The data of time resolved experiments were analyzed in terms of a mechanism involving direct donor-acceptor excitation transport by exchange coupling. It was concluded that an isotropic twodimensional exchange interaction topology is consistent with energy transfer in this system.
The major sources of energy dissipation in steel frames with partially restrained (PR) connections are evaluated. Available experimental results are used to verify the mathematical model used in this study. The verified model is then used to quantify the energy dissipation in PR connections due to hysteretic behavior, due to viscous damping and at plastic hinges if they are formed. Observations are made for two load conditions: a sinusoidal load applied at the top of the frame, and a sinusoidal ground acceleration applied at the base of the frame representing a seismic loading condition. This analytical study confirms the general behavior, observed during experimental investigations, that PR connections reduce the overall stiffness of frames, but add a major source of energy dissipation. As the connections become stiffer, the contribution of PR connections in dissipating energy becomes less significant. A connection with a T ratio (representing its stiffness) of at least 0.9 should not be considered as fully restrained as is commonly assumed, since the energy dissipation characteristics are different. The flexibility of PR connections alters the fundamental frequency of the frame. Depending on the situation, it may bring the frame closer to or further from the resonance condition. If the frame approaches the resonance condition, the effect of damping is expected to be very important. However, if the frame moves away from the resonance condition, the energy dissipation at the PR connections is expected to be significant with an increase in the deformation of the frame, particularly for low damping values. For low damping values, the dissipation of energy at plastic hinges is comparable to that due to viscous damping, and increases as the frame approaches failure. For the range of parameters considered in this study, the energy dissipations at the PR connections and at the plastic hinges are of the same order of magnitude. The study quantitatively confirms the general observations made in experimental investigations for steel frames with PR connections; however, proper consideration of the stiffness of PR connections and other dynamic properties is essential in predicting the dynamic behavior.

Nowadays, the increasing demands upon mobile devices such as wireless sensor networks and the recent advent of low power electrical devices such as MEMS make such renewable power sources attractive. A vibration-driven MEMS lead zirconate titanate $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) cantilever device is developed for energy harvesting application. This paper presents a piezoelectric based energy harvester which is suitable for power generating from conventional vibration and has in providing energy for low power electron ic devices. The PZT cantilever is used d33 mode to get the electrical power. The PZT cantilever based energy harvester with the dimension of 7 mm${\times}$3 mm${\times}$0.03 mm is fabricated using micromachining technologies. This PZT cantilever has the mechanical resonance frequency with a 900 Hz. With these conditions, we get experimentally the 37 uW output power from this device with the application of 1g acceleration using the 900 Hz vibration. From this study, we show the feasibility of one of energy harvesting candidates using PZT based structure. This PZT energy harvester could be used for various applications such a batteryless micro sensors and micro power generators.
This paper presents a design and analysis of an electromagnetic micro generator which can convert low frequency vibration energy to electrical power. The design aspects of the micro generator comprised planar spring, Cu coil and a permanent magnet(NdFeB). Threetype spring designs and four materials(Parylene, FR-4, Cu and Si) were compared to find resonance frequency. It was found that the resonance frequency will be changed according to the spring shape and material. Mechanical and magnetic parameters had been adjusted to optimize the output power through a comprehensive theoretical study.

A lithium polymer battery-based 9 kJ/s high-voltage capacitor charger, which comprises two stages, is proposed. A modified LCC resonant converter and resonant circuit are introduced at the first and second stages, respectively. In the first stage, the methods for handling low-voltage and high-current batteries are considered. Delta-wye three-phase transformers are used to generate a high output voltage through the difference between the phase and line-to-line voltages. Another method is placing the series resonant capacitor of the LCC resonant components on the transformer secondary side, which conducts considerably low current compared with the transformer primary side. On the basis of the stable operation of the first charging stage, the secondary charging stage generates final output voltage by using the resonance. This additional stage protects the rectifying diodes from the negative voltage when the output capacitor is discharged for a short time. The inductance and capacitance of the resonance components are selected by considering the resonance charging time. The design procedure for each stage with the aforementioned features is suggested, and its performance is verified by not only simulation but also experimental results.

We examine dosimetry application of irradiated D-fructose materials using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). Consequently, we consider that fructose is one of best dosimetry materials. We found that fructose is one of best candidates for dosimetry due to high linearity tilt of EPR signal intensity as a function of dose, irrelevant to photon energy, constant fading value. Also, our results show that fructose materials can be applied as a radiation detector to very weak radiation doses of 0.001 Gray by using EPR at a low temperature (T = 220 K).

When aiming to reduce the low frequency noise of a subway guest room through sound absorbing treatment methods inside the wall of a tunnel the resonator is often more effective than a porous sound absorbing material. Therefore, the perforated panel type resonator embedded with a perforated panel is proposed. The perforated panel is installed in the neck, which is then extended into the resonator cavity so that it can ensure useful volume. The absorption performance of the perforated panel type of resonator is obtained by acoustic analysis and experiment. The analytical results are in good agreement with the experimental results. In the case of multiple perforated panel type resonators, as the number of perforated panels increase, the 1st resonance frequency is moved to a low frequency band and sound absorption bandwidth is extended on the whole. In order to obtain excellent absorption performance, the impedance matching between multi-panels should be considered. When the perforated panel in the resonator is combined with a porous material, the absorption performance is highly enhanced in the anti-resonance and high frequency range. In case of the resonator inserted with perforated panels of 2, the 2nd resonance frequency is shifted to a low frequency band in proportion to the distance between perforated panels.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how uptake counts of $^{201}Tl$ of radioisotopes in the human body could change, when taking computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging right after injecting contrast media. $^{201}Tl$ radioisotope substances of iodine contrast medium, which is a computed tomography contrast medium, and paramagnetic contrast medium, which is an magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium, were used as study materials. First, $^{201}Tl$ was put into 4 cc of normal saline in test tube, and then a computed tomography contrast medium of Iopamidol$^{(R)}$ or Dotarem$^{(R)}$, was put into 2 cc of normal saline in test tube. An magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium of Primovist$^{(R)}$ or Gadovist$^{(R)}$ was also put into 2 cc of normal saline in test tube. Each contrast medium was distributed to make $^{201}Tl$ as 3 mCi, with a total of 4 cc. Gamma camera, low energy high resolution collimator, and pinhole collimator were used to obtain images. The uptake count of $^{201}Tl$ was measured with 1000 frames of images, and obtained after 10 times of repetition. This study revealed that the use of Gadovist$^{(R)}$, which is an magnetic resonance imaging contrast medium, showed the smallest number of uptake count, after measuring $^{201}Tl$ uptake count by low energy high resolution collimator. On the other hand, the use of Iopamidol$^{(R)}$, which is a computed tomography contrast medium, showed the biggest difference in uptake count, when measuring $^{99m}Tc$ uptake count by Pinhole collimator. When examining with gamma camera, using contrast medium and $^{201}Tl$, identifying the changes of uptake count is very important for improving the value of diagnosis.
