LTCC를 이용한 DMB용 SIR형 대역통과 필터의 특성 개선 (Improvement of Characteristics of DMB SIR-type Bandpass Filter Using LTCC)

  • Recently, RF systems have rapidly grown with the extension of the mobile communication service The mobile service companies are providing the satellite broadcasting and common usage are expected. Coinciding with current trend, the development of improved satellite DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) tuner is required. To improve the receiving sensitivity under the poor communication circumstance, It is necessary to design the LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) with outstanding low noise characteristic and the BPF (Bandpass Filter) to transmit only desired signal without distortion and loss. Besides high reliability, the miniaturization and lightweight are required for design of mobile terminals. In this study, we designed and fabricated DMB SIR-type BPF which operates at 2642 MHz and is embedded in the substrate using LTCC. As a result, we obtained the passband insertion loss of 2.4 dB and the passband ripple of 0.08 dB. So this DMB SIR-type BPF is applicable to RF module of a satellite DMB tuner.

  • A novel three-level DC/DC converter (TLC)for high power applications operating from high input voltage Is proposed. Its switch voltage stress can be ensured to be only one-half of the Input voltage. Nevertheless, since all input voltage is applied to the transformer primary side, it has good turns ratio. The driving method of each module is same as those of the conventional phase-shifted ZVS full bridge PWM converter (PSFB) and the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) of the leading leg are achieved exactly in the same manner as that of the PSFB. Moreover, its three-level operation can considerably reduce the current ripple through the output inductor and it has no problems of the DC-link voltage unbalance. Therefore, it features a low voltage stress, high efficiency, low EMI, high power density, and small sized filter. To confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed circuit, experimental results from a 200W, 600V/DC-48V/DC prototype are presented.

스위치 전도 손실을 개선한 인터리브 DC-DC 벅-부스트 컨버터 설계 (A Design of Interleaved DC-DC Buck-boost Converter with Improved Conduction Loss of Switch)

  • 본 논문에서는 DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold voltage MOSFET) 스위칭 소자를 사용한 인터리브 방식의 전원제어 장치(PMIC)를 제안하였다. 휴대기기에 필요한 높은 출력 전압과 낮은 출력 전압을 제공하기 위하여 벅-부스트 컨버터를 사용하였다. 또한, 높은 출력 전류에서 고 전력 효율을 얻기 위하여 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 제어 방식을 사용하였다. 낮은 온-저항을 갖는 DTMOS를 사용하여 도통 손실을 감소시켰으며 인터리브 방식을 사용하여 출력 리플을 감소시켰다. 1mA 이하의 대기모드에서도 높은 효율을 구현하기 위하여 LDO를 설계하였다.

  • Electrolytic power capacitors have been widely used in power conversion system such as inverter or UPS because of characteristics of large capacitance, high-voltage and low-cost. The electrolytic capacitor, which is most of the time affected by the aging effect, plays a very important role for the power-electronics system quality and reliability. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for UPS DC link electrolytic capacitors using low-cost single-chip zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using BPF modeling of DC link ripple voltage/current. Zigbee-based hardware experimental results show that the proposed remote capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to UPS successfully.

  • This paper proposes a simple control strategy based on the discontinuous PWM(DPWM) to balance the DC-link voltage of three-level Neutral-Point-Clamped(WPC) inverters at low modulation index. New DPWM methods in multi-level inverter are also introduced. The proposed DPWM method changes the path and duration to flow the neutral point current out of or into neutral point of the DC-link and it makes the overall fluctuation of the DC-link voltage zero during a sampling time of reference voltage vector. Therefore, the voltage of the DC-link can be balanced fairly well and also the voltage ripple of the DC-link is reduced significantly. Moreover, comparing with conventional methods, the proposed strategy is very simple. The validity of the proposed DPWM method is verified by experiment

  • DC bus electrolytic capacitors are used in variety of equipments as smoothing element of the power converters because it has high capacitance for its size and low price. It is responsible for frequent breakdowns of many static converters and inverter drive systems. Therefore it is important to diagnosis monitoring the condition of an electrolytic capacitor in real-time to predict the failure of power converter. In this paper, the on-line remote diagnosis monitoring system for DC BUS electrolytic capacitors of power converter using low-cost type Zigbee communication modules is developed. To estimate the health status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The capacitor ESR is estimated by using RMS computation using AC coupling method of DC link ripple voltage/current. The Zigbee communication-based experimental results show that the proposed remote DC capacitor diagnosis monitoring system can be applied to DC/DC converter and UPS successfully.

Analysis of Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter in DTC-SVM Induction Motor Drive for FCEV

  • In this paper, analysis of cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM (Direct Torque Control-Space Vector Modulation) based induction motor drive for FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) is presented. Cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter uses multiple series units of H-bridge power cells to achieve medium-voltage operation and low harmonic distortion. In FCEV, a fuel cell stack is used as the major source of electric power moreover the battery and/or ultra-capacitor is used to assist the fuel cell. These sources are suitable for utilizing in cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. The drive control strategy is based on DTC-SVM technique. In this scheme, first, stator voltage vector is calculated and then realized by SVM method. Contribution of multilevel inverter to the DTC-SVM scheme is led to achieve high performance motor drive. Simulations are carried out in Matlab-Simulink. Five-level and nine-level inverters are applied in 3hp FCEV induction motor drive for analysis the multilevel inverter. Each H-bridge is implemented using one fuel cell and battery. Good dynamic control and low ripple in the torque and the flux as well as distortion decrease in voltage and current profiles, demonstrate the great performance of multilevel inverter in DTC-SVM induction motor drive for vehicle application.

새로운 200 MHz CMOS 선형 트랜스컨덕터와 이를 이용한 20 MHz 일립틱 여파기의 설계 (Design of a Novel 200 MHz CMOS Linear Transconductor and Its Application to a 20 MHz Elliptic Filter)

  • 트랜스리니어 셀을 이용한 새로운 200 MHz CMOS 트랜스컨덕터를 제안하였다. 제안한 트랜스컨덕터는 트랜스리니어 셀에 기초를 둔 전압 폴로워 및 전류 폴로워와 하나의 저항기로 구성된다. 트랜스컨덕터의 폭 넓은 응용을 위해, 단일-입력 단일-출력, 단일-입력 차동-출력, 그리고 완전-차동 트랜스컨덕터를 각각 체계적으로 설계하였다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션의 결과, 완전-차동 트랜스컨덕터는 ${\pm}3$ V의 공급 전압에서 ${\pm}2.7$ V의 입력 선형 범위, 200 MHz의 3-dB 주파수, 그리고 41 $ppm/^{\circ}C$ 이하의 온도 계수를· 가진다는 것을 확인하였다. 완선-차동 트랜스컨덕터의 응용성을 확인하기 위해, 인덕턴스 시뮬레이션 방식에 기초한 3차 사다리형 일립틱 저역-통과 여파기를 설계하였다. 설계된 저역-통과 여파기는 22 MHz의 리플 대역폭파 0.36 dB의 통과 대역 리플, 그리고 26 MHz의 차단 주파수를 가진다.

  • A design and control method of DC/DC converter, which can control variable DC-link voltage to drive a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), is proposed in this study. Given that a fuel cell has low-voltage and high-current characteristics, the required voltage for operating motor must be output through the DC/DC boost converter in the system to drive an FCEV. The proposed converter can choose the output voltage of battery or fuel cell in consideration of the driving mode, as well as control DC-link voltage in accordance with the back electromotive force. The switching lag-time to prevent shortage of pulse-width modulation inverter arms makes distorted current waveform caused by voltage distortion. Through this control method, the proposed converter can reduce the output voltage distortion and current ripple of the inverter, thereby reducing the distorted torque. Simulations and experimental results are presented to verify the reliability of the proposed DC/DC converter.

계통연계형 인버터의 고조파 전류저감을 위한 LLCL 필터에 관한 연구 (A Study on LLCL Filter to Reduce Harmonic Current of Grid Connected Power Inverter)

  • In this paper, the new LLCL filter is proposed for grid connected three-phase PWM inverter for passive damping. LLCL filter inserts a small inductor in the branch of the capacitor of the traditional LCL filter to compose a series resonant circuit to reduce the switching-frequency component on grid current. Using LLCL filter, the switching-frequency current ripple components can be attenuated much better than the LCL filter, leading to a decrease in the total inductance. However, the resonance phenomena caused by zero impedance from the addition of LC branch in LLCL filter can be a big problem. Resonance phenomena of LLCL filter can be a source of grid system instability, so proper damping methods are required. However, it is difficult to apply a passive damping method in the conventional LLCL filter, because the damping resistor increase impedance of the LC branch. Therefore, switching frequency component of grid current can not much attenuated by low Q of LC series resonance effect. In this paper, a new LLCL filter is proposed to overcome the conventional LLCL filter with passive damping. The validity of the proposed method is proven by simulation and experimental result.
