  • This paper a new method which applies a genetic algorithm for determining which sectionalizing switch to operate in order to solve the distribution system loss minimization re-configuration problem.   • A precoding strategy is one of the representative interference management techniques in cognitive radio (CR) network which is a typical interference-limited environment. The interference minimization approach to precoding is an appropriate scheme to mitigate the interference efficiently while it may cause the capacity loss of the desired channel. The precoding scheme for the maximal capacity of the desired channel improves the capacity of the desired channel while it increases the interference power and finally causes the capacity loss of the interfered users. Therefore, we propose a precoding scheme which satisfies these two conflicting goals and manages the interference signal in such an interference-limited environment. The proposed scheme consists of two steps. First, the precoder nulls out the largest singular value of the interference channel to mitigate the dominant interference signal based on the interference minimization approach. Second, the transmitter calculates the sum capacities per mode and selects a mode to maximize the sum capacity. In the second step, each mode consists of the right singular vectors corresponding to the singular values except the largest singular value eliminated in the first step. Simulation results show that the proposed precoding scheme not only efficiently mitigate the interference signal, but also has the best performance in terms of the sum capacity in a MIMO-based CR network.

  • This proposes an online loss minimization algorithm for series PI(SPI) based interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive to yield high efficiency and high dynamic performance over wide speed range. The loss minimization algorithm is developed based on the motor model. In order to minimize the controllable electrical losses of the motor and thereby maximize the operating efficiency, the d-axis armature current is controlled optimally according to the operating speed and load conditions. For vector control purpose, a SPI is used as a speed controller which enables the utilization of the reluctance torque to achieve high dynamic performance as well as to operate the motor over a wide speed range. Also, this paper proposes current control of model reference adaptive fuzzy controller(MFC), and estimation of speed using artificial neural network(ANN) controller. The proposed efficiency optimization control, SPI, MFC, ANN in this paper is applied to IPMSM drive system, the validity of this paper is proved by analyzing response characteristics in variety operating conditions.

An Optimal Power-Throughput Tradeoff Study for MIMO Fading Ad-Hoc Networks

  • In this paper, we study optimal tradeoffs of achievable throughput versus consumed power in wireless ad-hoc networks formed by a collection of multiple antenna nodes. Relying on adaptive modulation and/or dynamic channel coding rate allocation techniques for multiple antenna systems, we examine the maximization of throughput under power constraints as well as the minimization of transmission power under throughput constraints. In our examination, we also consider the impacts of enforcing quality of service requirements expressed in the form of channel coding block loss constraints. In order to properly model temporally correlated loss observed in fading wireless channels, we propose the use of finite-state Markov chains. Details of fading statistics of signal-to-interference-noise ratio, an important indicator of transmission quality, are presented. Further, we objectively inspect complexity versus accuracy tradeoff of solving our proposed optimization problems at a global as oppose to a local topology level. Our numerical simulations profile and compare the performance of a variety of scenarios for a number of sample network topologies.

정확히 재가중되는 온라인 전체 에러율 최소화 기반의 객체 추적 (Object Tracking Based on Exactly Reweighted Online Total-Error-Rate Minimization)

  • 영상 기반의 보안 시스템의 증가함에 따라 각 용도마다 다른 다양한 객체들에 대한 처리들이 중요해지고 있다. 객체 추적은 객체 인식, 검출과 같은 작업들과 함께 필수적인 작업으로 다뤄진다. 이 객체 추적을 달성하기 위해서 다양한 머신러닝이 적용될 수 있다. 성공적인 분류기로써 전체 에러율 최소화(total-error-rate minimization) 기반의 방법론이 사용될 수 있다. 이 전체 에러율 최소화 기반의 방법론은 오프라인 학습을 기반으로 하고 있다. 객체 추적은 실시간으로 처리하며 갱신해야하는 것이 필수적이므로 온라인 학습(online learning)을 기반으로 하는 것이 적합하다. 온라인 전체 에러율 최소화 방법론이 개발되었지만 점근적으로 재가중되는(approximately reweighted) 작업이 포함되어 에러를 누적시킬 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 정확하게 재가중되는(exactly reweighted) 방법론을 제안하면서 온라인 전체 에러율 최소화가 달성되었다. 이 제안된 온라인 학습 방법론을 객체 추적에 적용하여 총 8개의 데이터베이스에서 다른 추적 방법론들 보다 좋은 성능이 달성되었다.

부하 추종형 실시간 변압기 손실감소운전시스템 개발과 시범운영 경제성 분석 (The Development of an Operating System for Load-following Real-time Transformer Loss Minimization and Economic Analyses on its' Test Operation)

  • In this paper, for minimizing the real-time operating load losses of the power transformer, a SCADA optimum operating system was developed, and the economic analyses on the test operation were performed. Transformer loss DB which reflects the economic integration operation criteria was constructed by referring the transformer manufacturer's loss data(iron loss, copper loss). Based on the loss DB, each substation transformer real-time loss was calculated according to the size of the transformer loads, and if integration or separation transformer operating conditions minimizing the loss are met, then a window pops-up and the dispatcher performs the substation equipments operation according to the procedure provided by this system. With the existing SCADA main program, the relation database of the substation facilities and integration/separation operation algorithm were developed and applied to Auto MTR Processor and pconn Processor Task module. Seven stations test data for seven months were analyzed for the economic analyses, and the results showed that Cost-Benefit ratio was 2.64, and IRR(Internal Rate of Return), 36%, which asserted the economic justification of the proposed system.

  • IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is widely used in many applications such as an electric vehicle, compressor drives of air conditioner and machine tool spindle drives. In order to maximize the efficiency in such applications, this paper is proposed the optimal control method of the armature current. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail by simulation.

일반적 손실함수 하에서의 파라미터 설계방법 (Parameter Design under General Loss Functions)

  • In a recent article, Leon et al. lucidly explained the ideas of the Taguchi two-stage procedure for parameter design optimization, and proposed alternative performance measures called PerMIA to the signal-to-noise ratios. On the other hand, Box proposed an empirical approach to the problem based upon monotone transformations of the performance characteristic(y). This paper develops procedures for parameter design optimization under the assumptions that the expected loss(not necessarily a mean squared error loss) is increasing with respect to the variance of the error in y, and that the mean of y satisfies certain conditions of adjustability. It turns out that the variance of the error in y can play the role of PerMIA, and it is further shown that the derived PerMIA can be adapted to the Box empirical procedure for the minimization of the expected loss in the original metric.

  • Replacement policy of a degradation of system is investigated by incorporating the loss function defined by the deviation of the value of quality characteristic from its target value, which determines the loss cost . Two cost minimization problems are formulated : 1)determination of an optimal inspection period given the state for the replacement and 2)determination of an optimal state for replacement under fixed inspect ion period. Simulation analysis is performed to observe the variation of total cost with respect to the variation of the parameters of loss function, inspection cost, respectively. As a result, parameters of loss function are seen to be the most sensitive to the total cost. On the contrary, inspect ion cost is observed to be insensitive.
