  • A Bi-2223 tape has beer developed for power applications such as a fault current limiter, a power cable and a superconducting magnetic energy storage system. In such applications, the Bi-2223 tape carries time varying transport current and in addition experiences time varying external magnetic field. It is well known that the external magnetic field not only causes magnetization loss in the Bi-2223 tape, but also drastically increases transport loss due to a so-called "dynamic resistance". We developed an evaluation setup, which can measure transport loss in external at magnetic fields. Using this equipment, we measured the dynamic resistances for various amplitudes and frequencies of an external ac magnetic field perpendicular to the face in the tape. Simultaneously we investigated the effect of an external ac field on transport loss with different experimental conditions. This paper describes test results and discussions on correlation between the dynamic resistance and the transport loss for the Bi-2223 tape.

  • Certification flight test is very risky and there are many hazards. Because the flight test is performed with the aircraft, that is safety and flight characteristics are not proven. And the test items and conditions are critical. If there is loss of aircraft during certification flight test, the certification program, development period can be delayed. Therefore, maintaining safety of the aircraft during flight test is very important. There are not much flight test experiences in Korea. However, developed nations has long history of flight test and experiences of flight test accidents. Based on these experiences, they has developed systematic management methods for the flight test safety. In this study, I would like to introduce safety management and risk assessment of the certification flight test.

  • This research is intended to study the dietary experiences by college women to promote women's health through the proper diet. The approach method was used grounded theory. The participants were selected 3 colleges in Seoul, Inchon, and Cheongju. The selected 15 women were college students who had a history of dietary experiences or who were on the way of diet at the time of the start of this research. The data were collected from August 2001 to October 2001. Data collecting method was a Focus Group Interview. The data were analysed by the Strauss and Corbin's method(1966). The results were showed that the 236 concepts in the dietary experiences were gathered into 48 sub-categories, eventually being integrated into 17 higher categories. 'Esthetic self-pursuit' is the core phenomenon of the dietary experiences. Such phenomenon is due to subjects physical problems, sense of comparison and desire of weight-loss. In the circumstantial context, the esthetic self-pursuit phenomenon is enhanced by social opinions, aesthetic senses, and the recognition of self-control. The interaction strategy of the esthetic self-pursuit can be intensified and sustained by will power, supporting systems, and accessibility. Through the dietary experiences, the body changes positive or negative figures. Following the sense of success or failure, the diet are sustained or abandoned accordingly. Therefore for the application of promoting health, an intervention strategy should be created a collect organized diet program in a social level not a private level.

  • In this paper, path loss characteristics in a curved subway tunnel are measured and analyzed. The measurement is carried out in the frequency bands of 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz. A directional antenna is employed for transmission and an omnidirectional antenna for reception. This measurement is performed in the subway tunnel in the vicinity of the Daejon station. The tunnel is curved and its cross section is arch-shaped. The path loss is measured with the location of the transmitter antenna fixed and the receiver antenna moving in the tunnel. The measured path loss ratio is about 0.1dBm/m. Also, the signal received from the antenna located on the outer side of curve in the tunnel experiences weaker path loss.

  • Relaxation technique is an independent nursing intervention used in various stressful situations. The concept of relaxation must be explored for the meaning given by the people in their traditional thought and philosophy. Korean relaxation technique, wanting to become culturally acceptable and effective, is learning to recognize and develop Korean concepts, experiences, and musics of relaxation. This study was aimed at discovering Korean concepts, experiences and musics of relaxation and contributing the development of the relaxation technique for Korean people. The subjects were 59 mursing students, 39 hospitalized patients, 61 housewives, 21 rural residents and 16 researchers. Data were collected from September 4th to October 24th, 1991 by interviews or questionaires. The data analysis was done by qualitative research method, and validity assured by conformation of the concept and category by 2nursing scientists who had written a Master's thesis on the relaxation technique. The results of the study were summerized as follows; 1. The meaning of the relaxation concept; From 298 statements, 107 concepts were extracted and then 5 categories "Physical domain", "Psychological domain", "Complex domain", "Situation", and "environment" were organized. • Over the last 20 years, women's development has been ambiguous. According to Freud, the mother-daughter relationship has been considered as an essential component of women's development. This study investigated how the mourning experience from daughters who were separated from their mothers by death offers any meaningful idea to women's life. For Hermeneutic phenomenology, researchers collected data from three women who have lost their mothers through in-depth interviews and drawing pictures with each of them. As a result, this study found that daughters started to fight with their mothers' death from the moment when they were informed. They also experienced a symbolic death until the moment of their mothers' death and even after the confirmation of their mothers' death. Daughters experienced symbolic death, both emotionally and physically as well as familiar experiences with their mothers through the repeated confirmation of death. However, these experiences encouraged daughters to adapt to the reality that was the absence of their mothers through the processes such as "Reflection," "Living in the Center of My life," and "Another Embrace." Through this new perspective, attempts, and relationships, daughters form a new identity and experience 'rebirth'. These daughters' changes were paradoxically strengthened through their resistances towards changes of reformation of themselves.

  • House load operation (HLO) occurs when the generator supplies power to the house load without triggering reactor trips during grid disturbances. In Korea, the HLO capability of optimized power reactor 1000 (OPR1000) plants has prevented several reactor trips. Operational experiences demonstrate the difference in the reactor trip incidence due to grid disturbances between OPR1000 plants and Westinghouse plants in Korea, attributable to the availability of the HLO capability. However, probabilistic safety assessments (PSAs) for OPR1000 plants have not considered their specific design features in the initiating event analyses. In an at-power PSA, the HLO capability can affect the initiating event frequencies of general transients (GTRN) and loss of offsite power (LOOP), resulting from transients within the grid system. The initiating event frequencies of GTRN and LOOP for an OPR1000 plant are reduced by 17.7% and 78.7%, respectively, compared to the Korean industry-average initiating event frequencies, and its core damage frequency from internal events is reduced by 15.2%. The explicit consideration of the HLO capability in initiating event analyses makes significant changes in the risk contributions of the initiating events. Consequently, for more realistic at-power PSAs in Korea, we recommend incorporating plant-specific HLO-related design features when estimating initiating event frequencies.
