  • Most of the monopropellant thrusters use catalyst for decomposing hydrazine. The thruster lifetime is determined mainly by catalyst lifetime, which can be investigated by firing tests. For the development of hydrazine decomposition catalyst, Hot-fire test to verify long-life performance of catalyst is required. This study describes the development of test equipment for long duration hot-firing and test/evaluation plan.

  • It is possible to realize the concept of long-life housing by utilizing the wall piping infill system. However, when using the wall piping infill system, there is no detailed standard in Korea. Problems may occur in actual use. In this study, we use the results obtained from the performance test method as a basic data. Since the load resistance test of the toilet is not available in Korea, GB 6952 (Sanitary wares) of China is applied. According to the experiment of load resistance of the toilet in this study, the strain recovery ability was good. However, it is not possible to exclude the possibility of permanent deformation of the toilet seat due to long - term repeated loading. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the stiffness enhancement of the wall (steel frame) to the fixing part when installing the toilet in the wall pipe infill system.

  • Patterns are symbolic expressions of life style or sentiment of people as a product of culture. Furthermore, it is a type of language that the shape or implication does not change much over time. Patterns shown on the Korean medical containers are related to human life and health that they are not very diverse and splendid but closed used in real life. The medical containers include the alcohol container or tea-ware in broad sense, but under this study, it would be handled only for the Korean medical containers directly used to protect human health and treatment of diseases. They would be the Medicine Mortar and Pestle that is used to grind the herbal medical ingredients, pots that hold the liquid decoction, containers to keep the medical ingredients in general conceptual use for medical purposes. The patterns inscribed are classified in animal pattern, plant pattern or alphabet pattern. Turtle, crane, ginseng, and life patterns have the contemplation to pray for long life without disease or good fortune, while plum pattern, dragon pattern and the like are used in the medical containers used mainly in royal families with the social status and dignity shown. As such, patterns have not only ornament elements but also the symbolic implication to represent long life without illness for human. It provides the basic data of medical wisdom contained in the pattern and willingness of human to protect life from illness. On the basis of such research, it would require ensuing studies to make comparison and analysis with the medical containers with the patterns in the adjacent countries in the days to come.

  • In this paper, the approach getting a total demand by forecasting the new demand and the replacement demand separately and adding them is used for long term forecasting of durable goods. Cross country analysis using the income as an independent variable and S-shaped growth curve as a fitting model is developed as a method of forecasting new demand. To get the replacement demand the methods using the number of ownership and the replacement rate and the methods using the past demand and the distribution of the product life are proposed. And the theoretical explannation for product life cycle's diversity, which is the one of the major considerations in the long term forecasting, is attempted by the combination of the new demand and the replacement demand patterns. This is applicated the long term forecasting of Korean passenger cars.

  • As life expectancies increase continuously over the world, the accuracy of forecasting mortality is more and more important to maintain social systems in the aging era. Currently, the most popular model used is the Lee-Carter model but various studies have been conducted to improve this model with one of them being 6-parametric factor model (6-PFM) which is introduced in this paper. To this new model, long short-term memory (LSTM) and regularized LSTM are applied in addition to vector autoregression (VAR), which is a traditional time-series method. Forecasting accuracies of several models, including the LC model, 4-PFM, 5-PFM, and 3 6-PFM's, are compared by using the U.S. and Korea life-tables. The results show that 6-PFM forecasts better than the other models (LC model, 4-PFM, and 5-PFM). Among the three 6-PFMs studied, regularized LSTM performs better than the other two methods for most of the tests.

  • In this paper, we introduce a system applied to long short-term memory using Yolo-pose. Using Yolo-pose from image data, data divided into daily life and falls are extracted and applied to LSTM for learning. In order to prevent overfitting, training is performed 8 to 2 validation and is represented by a confusion matrix. The result of Yolo-pose recorded 100% of both sensitivity and specificity, confirming that daily life and falls were well distinguished.

  • Changes in the levels of analytes in the blood and urine of a rodent animal model were taken as a measure of the hypoglycemic effects of a diet containing fermented chaga mushroom. These studies were conducted using the genetically manipulated diabetic Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rat. The effects of 8-week long diets that included either fermented (FCM) or non-fermented (CM) chaga mushroom powder (5% in the diet) on the OLETF rat were compared to the normal diet fed OLETF rat and the non-diabetic Long-Evans Tokushima Otsuka (LETO) rat. Hypoglycemia was tracked by measuring serum and urine concentrations of glucose, insulin, fructosamine, and leptin. Serum and urine levels of glucose, fructosamine, and leptin in the OLETF rats were higher than in LETO rats when fed normal diets but insulin levels did not differ between the two animal groups. The FCM rats were characterized by dramatically low levels of serum glucose and leptin in the OLETF rats whereas the levels of fructosamine and urine glucose trended lower in response to FCM. The serum leptin level in the CM-fed OLETF rat was also lower than that in the normal diet fed OLETF control. Serum concentrations of insulin in the OLETF rats were higher following FCM or CM feeding compared to the normal diet. These observations imply that (a) a dietary supplement of fermented chaga mushroom may contribute to a hypoglycemic effect in the OLETF rat, and (b) the increased blood insulin concentration following 8 weeks of an FCM diet may be important to the noted improvement in hyperglycemia.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to describe older adults' experiences of living with urinary incontinence and using diapers for its management in long-term care facilities. Methods: Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with 22 participants in long-term care facilities. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: Three themes and six categories were emerged. Participants navigated through those three categories as stages, including the initial stage of confronting the unacceptable reality, transitional stage of physical and emotional suffering, and adaptive stage of accepting the diaper usage as a part of life and hoping improvement. Six categories were feeling terrible with unavoidable use of diapers, being frustrated by nursing staff shortage and unsatisfactory care for urinary incontinence, physical discomfort from of wearing diapers and remaining unchanged, emotional difficulties due to using diapers, accepting and adapting to diaper usage as a part of life, hope for gender-specific quality care for urinary incontinence. Conclusion: The findings suggest that using diapers should not be mandatory to manage older adults' urinary incontinence in long-term care facilities. It is also critical to establish policies to address issues of nursing shortage and financial support for qualitative care to manage urinary incontinence in long-term care settings.

  • This paper proposes a new passive type LED driver which satisfies the standard of power factor (PF) and total harmonic distortion (THD). The proposed passive LED driver also has high-efficiency and long-life time characteristics compared to active LED driver which is composed of op-amp, switches and so on. By using just passive components such as inductor, capacitor, and diode, it has resolved extremely short-life time and low-efficiency problems of previous LED drivers. It has achieved PF of 0.99, THD of 16.4 %, and the total efficiency of 95 %. The proposed passive LED driver is fully analyzed and verified by simulations and experiments, which results are in good agreement each other.

  • This study aims to suggest improvement plans and explain about the current situation for facilitating Long-life housing, based on the results on flexibility items among 27 items consisting the "Housing Performance Grading System". From the 9th of January, 2006 to the month of July in 2011, study has analyzed evaluation results on 216 different types for each grade and reviewed evaluation criteria and methods. Current evaluation criteria applies quantitative analysis, by calculating in percentage how much bearing walls and columns, which hinder flexibility, take up space in the household. The evaluation rate for each household was assessed in relation to its structural system, and a higher grade was given to column-typed structures. In addition, to facilitate long-life housing, this study extracted harmful factors, expanding the range of evaluation. The first step was to evaluate structure, which is the basic element. The second step can to evaluate the probability of applying resources in response to the changes of structural systems. As The third step, Flexibility item will evaluate the probability of moving the water-using area, suggesting gradual approach. Thus, through evaluations of flexibility items, the study aims to improve the quality of life in household, by avoiding uniform structures and acquiring more freedom for space designs.
