Research into the selection of suitable materials and the development of fast processing methods for press die manufacturing is absolutely necessary to reduce the production time and cost. In particular, knowledge of its heat properties must be considered whendeveloping a long press die. Generally, as the main component materials of press dies, Cr, W low alloy tool steel, high carbon-high chrome steel, high speed steel, etc., are used as thetooling steel for the cold die. Machine tools and wire-cut electric discharge machining are mainly used for processing the press die parts. There are many differences in the machining time and life cycle of die parts depending on the machining process. The parts produced by milling and grinding have a high manufacturing time and cost with a long life cycle, while thosemade by milling and wire-cut discharge machining have areduced manufacturing time and cost, whereastheir die life cycle is reduced. Therefore, in this study, we will discuss amethod of improving the life cycle of the die parts by using heat treatment as a processing method that reduces the manufacturing time and cost. SEM, EDS analysis and the surface roughness analysis of the surface and center of the workpiece are used for analyzing the specimens produced by three machining methods, viz. milling - grinding, milling - wire cut discharge, and milling - wire cut discharge - heat treatment. A method of making die parts having the same life cycle as those produced by milling - grinding is developed with the milling - wire cut discharge - high temperature tempering method.
This study proposes the practical design elements of sustainable fashion by understanding the values of the MZ generation and analyzing the design characteristics that can extend the life of clothing. The theoretical concept of sustainable fashion through previous studies was reviewed and in-depth interviews were conducted with the MZ generation on "design characteristics of clothes that they have actually used for a long time." The result was drawn by approaching the constant comparison method through the qualitative methodology. As a result of the study, the design characteristics of clothes that can be worn for a long time are as follows. First, simple design pursues simplicity that is not excessive to the essential characteristics of clothes. Second, sturdy material is durable and not easily damaged. The clothing storage method and laundry method were also factors that could extend the life of the garment. Third, emotional design is a design that fits well with your mood and body type and gives a special meaning to your emotions. This study is meaningful in suggesting elements necessary for extending the life cycle of clothing and providing basic data that can be applied to the practical design steps of the fashion industry.
In this study, performance tests, a field evaluation, and a life cycle cost (LCC) analysis for high performance coating systems were conducted to prepare a plan to reduce the cost of maintenance coating and contribute to the service life extension of steel bridges by applying high performance coatings to steel bridges that will be constructed in the future. From the deterioration models based on the field evaluation for chlorinated rubber and urethane topcoat systems, which have been applied often, the mean service lives were derived as 20.8 and 26.6 years, respectively. For the other coating systems that have not been applied in practice, the coordination factors were differentially applied with evaluation items. The most durable coating system was predicted to be thermal spray coating (TSC) primer/epoxy intermediate coat/fluoride resin topcoat, with a predicted value as long as 42.2 years. The LCC analysis indicates that partial application of high performance coating, such as TSC and fluoride resin, to specific parts vulnerable to corrosion and ultraviolet ray (UV) is more advantageous than the use of general coating systems.
It is true that SOC facilities, such as dams, need long life cycles since more time has to be invested for the phases of planning, examination, feasibility study, design, contract, construction, and maintenance. This longer life cycle is easily exposed to the risk. And thus, brings additional cost by the delayed project, convenient loss according to the additional run of use, and benefit lose of not to using the facilities. So, the purpose of this study is to try to find a solution to reduce these time consuming problems which could diminish the whole national competition. Hence, this study is to show efficient, systematical project performance and network model by using reciprocal analyses between the construction period and cost based on economical analysis of each phase of life cycles. In addition, on the basis of these outputs, the Fast Track Method is suggested as an alternative solution as a new Approach in Life Cycle's Analysis.
This research is aimed at the development of Long Life Housing, which can realize sustainable construction and environment. It also promotes practical use of Long Life Housing with evaluation of the field application through Mockup House. This research is one of the important tools to realize Long Life Housing and deducts various traditional design's element technology to cope with demands of change of life cycle and style of residents. this study set three elements of plans for modernization in the traditional design factors that opening, wall and bottom as space composition elements of interior facts. first, Jang-ji wall and storage wall system separated from elements of wall that applied modernize elements of the wall. second, element of opening was restructure swing-lift-up opening system into modernize. third, maru and toet-maru system separated from elements of bottom that was applied modernize elements of the bottom. each elements segregation with four types as basic type, separate type, movable type and mixed type. This research make a proposal of plans for modernization in the traditional design factors, aimed at Long Life Housing through these four types blend. In addition, it points to promote realization of the sustainable 'Korea-style Long Life Housing' through modernization.
This paper summarizes the results of a two-year-long research project conducted by the CTBUH on the life cycle assessment (LCA) of tall building structural systems. The research project was made possible thanks to a $300,000 contribution from ArcelorMittal and the support of some of the most important structural engineering firms and players in the tall building industry. The research analyzed all life phases of a tall building's structural system: the extraction and production of its materials, transportation to the site, construction operations, final demolition of the building, and the end-of-life of the materials. The impact of the building structure during the operational phase (i.e., impact on daily energy consumption, maintenance, and suitability to changes) was also investigated, but no significant impacts were identified during this phase.
The repair and maintenance planning is the principal transaction to prevent from the degradation of apartment buildings to prolong their lives. Various building components as part of living area should be maintained properly and timely before critical defects are realized, then the building life might be extended until the limit of its usability. In other words, various building components such as utilities, finishes and structural members are needed to be repaired and replaced in different time interval after completion. To do this systematically, a maintenance management system for Long-Range Planning (LRP) needs developing. The LRP should be figured out based on the forecast of repairing and replacing cycle of building components according to work trades. And the precise forecast of repairing and replacing time of the components helps to enhance the usability of the developed system. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a system with which apartment building managers carry out the tasks of periodical check, diagnosis and replacement of building components based on the maintenance calendar. By using the system, they can easily forecast repairing and replacing time of the components with the consideration of life cycle of building materials and build the LRP.
Stirling engine is a heat engine with a high potential efficiency, multi-fuel capability, its low emission, quiet operation, very low maintenance requirement and long life. The Stirling cycle can ideally achieve optimum thermodynamic efficiency of the Carnot cycle. But the actual efficiency of practical reciprocating Stirling engine is much less than that of ideal Stirling cycle due to several mechanical limits. This paper presents a new-type Stirling engine employing the scroll mechanism superior to the reciprocating Stirling engine. The new-type Stirling engine is characterized as traits of continuous and wholly seperated compression and expansion, one-way flow, direct cooling and heating through the extensive surfaces of scroll wraps. By means of this traits, the new-type Stirling engine can achieve thermodynamic cycle closer to the ideal Stirling cycle and have many mechanical merits. Also, the new-type Stirling cycle can be applied as Stirling refrigerator and Duplex Stirling machine.

To guarantee life time more than 20 years for manufacturer without stopping photovoltaic(PV) system, it is really important to test the module in realistic time and condition compared to outside weather. In here, we tested PV modules in highly stressed condition compared to IEC standards. In IEC 61215 and IEC 61646 standards, damp-heat, thermal cycle(TC200) and mechanical test are main test items for evaluating long-term durability of PV module in controlled temperature and humidity condition. So in this paper, we have lengthened the test time for TC200 and damp-heat test and increased the loading stress on surface of module. Through this test, we can get some clue of proper the method for measuring realistic life cycle of PV modules and suggested the minimum time for PV test method. The detail description is specified as the following paper.

Viscum album var (VAV) also known as mistletoe, has long been categorized as a traditional herbal medicine in Asia. In addition to its immunomodulating activities, mistletoe has also been used in the treatment of chronic hepatic disorders in China and Korea. There are numerous reports showing that VAV possesses anti-cancer effects, however influence on human hepatocarcinoma has never been elucidated. In the present study, hot water extracts of VAV was evaluated for its potential anti-cancer effect in vitro. SK-Hep1 cells were treated with VAV (50-400ug/ml) for both 24 and 48 hours then cell viability was measured by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8). Flow cytometry analysis was used to measure the proportion of SK-Hep1 in the different stages of cell cycle. RT-PCR and Western blot analysis were conducted to measure expression of cell cycle arrest related genes and proteins respectively. VAV dose dependently inhibited the proliferation of SK-Hep1 cells without any cytotoxicity with normal Chang liver cell (CCL-13). Flow cytometry analysis showed that VAV extract inhibited the cell cycle of SK-Hep1 cells via G1 phase arrest. RT-PCR and Western blot analysis both revealed that cyclin dependent kinase 2 (Cdk2) and cyclin D1 gene expression were significantly down regulated while p21 was upregulated dose dependently by VAV treatment. Combined down regulation of Cdk2, Cyclin D1 and up regulation of p21 can result in cell death. These results indicate that VAV showed evidence of anti-cancer activity through G1 phase cell cycle arrest in SK-Hep1 cells.
