Purpose: Automated guidance systems (AGSs) for mobile farm machinery have several advantages over manual operation in the crop production industry. Many researchers and companies have tried to develop such a system. However, it is not easy to evaluate the performance of an AGS because there is no established device used to evaluate it that complies with the ISO 12188 standard. The objective of this study was to develop a tracking sensor system using five laser distance measurement sensors. Methods: One sensor-for long-range distance measurement-was used to measure travel distance and velocity. The other four sensors-for mid-range distance measurement-were used to measure lateral deviation. Stationary, manual driving, and A-B line tests were conducted, and the results were compared with the real-time kinematic differential global positioning system (RTK-DGPS) signal used by the AGS. Results: For the stationary test, the average error of the tracking sensor system was 1.99 mm, and the average error of the RTK-DGPS was 15.19 mm. For the two types of driving tests, the data trends were similar. A comparison of the changes in lateral deviation showed that the data stability of the developed tracking system was better. Conclusions: Although the tracking system was not capable of measuring long travel distances under strong sunlight illumination because of the long-range sensor's limitations, this dilemma could be overcome using a higher-performance sensor.

Tracer experiments were performed 4 times in December 1992 on the relatively flat terrain and nearby building area adjacent to the Taedok Science Town in Korea. Each experiment was continued for relatively short period of 1 or 2 hours with intermittent release of SF6 up to 2.07g/s at 10m height. Movement of tracer plume was tracked by a continuous tracer analyzer installed on an air monitoring van. Simulation with INPUFF was carried out to analyze and predict experiments. Measured profiles of tracer plume were narrow and sharp while predicted profiles by INPUFF were broad and slowly varied. Tracer plumes were detected at a short distance of 0.5 to 2.2 km mainly due to intermittent release and high value of lower detectable limit. Various experimental conditions were tested by INPUFF simulation in order to find desirable conditions. Higher wind speed and less variable wind direction could yield longer distance of plume tracking only when the lower detectable limit was sufficiently low. Distance of plume tracking was long and did not much depend on the lower detectable limit in stable atmospheric conditions.

Research on indoor location tracking technology using smartphone is actively being carried out. Especially, the movement distance of the smartphone should be accurately measured and the movement route of the user should be displayed on the map. Location tracking technology using sensors mounted on smart phones has been used for a long time, but accuracy is not good enough to measure the moving distance of the user using only the sensor. Therefore, when the user moves the smartphone in a certain posture, it must research and develop an appropriate algorithm to measure the distance accurately. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce moving distance estimation error by removing user 's foot shape by limiting the screen of smartphone in pyramid - based optical flow estimation method.

The size of a display is large, The form becoming various of that do not apply to previous methods of gaze tracking and if setup gaze-track-camera above display, can solve the problem of size or height of display. However, This method can not use of infrared illumination information of reflected cornea using previous methods. In this paper, Robust pupil detecting method for eye's occlusion, corner point of inner eye and center of pupil, and using the face pose information proposes a method for calculating the simply position of the gaze. In the proposed method, capture the frame for gaze tracking that according to position of person transform camera mode of wide or narrow angle. If detect the face exist in field of view(FOV) in wide mode of camera, transform narrow mode of camera calculating position of face. The frame captured in narrow mode of camera include gaze direction information of person in long distance. The method for calculating the gaze direction consist of face pose estimation and gaze direction calculating step. Face pose estimation is estimated by mapping between feature point of detected face and 3D model. To calculate gaze direction the first, perform ellipse detect using splitting from iris edge information of pupil and if occlusion of pupil, estimate position of pupil with deformable template. Then using center of pupil and corner point of inner eye, face pose information calculate gaze position at display. In the experiment, proposed gaze tracking algorithm in this paper solve the constraints that form of a display, to calculate effectively gaze direction of person in the long distance using single camera, demonstrate in experiments by distance.

This paper presents an algorithm for recognizing and tracking a vehicle at a distance using a monocular camera installed at the center of the windshield of a vehicle to operate an autonomous vehicle in a racing. The vehicle is detected using the Haar feature, and the size and position of the vehicle are determined by detecting the shadows at the bottom of the vehicle. The region around the recognized vehicle is determined as ROI (Region Of Interest) and the vehicle shadow within the ROI is found and tracked in the next frame. Then the position, relative speed and direction of the vehicle are predicted. Experimental results show that the vehicle is recognized with a recognition rate of over 90% at a distance of more than 100 meters.
This paper describes a omni-directionally speaker tracking system for mobile robot interface in real environment. Its purpose is to detect a robust 360-degree sound source and to recognize voice command at a long distance(60-300cm). We consider spatial features, the relation of position and interaural time differences, and realize speaker tracking system using fuzzy inference process based on inference rules generated by its spatial features.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can estimate the distance using disparity based on stereo vision system, even though the obstacle is located in long ranges as well as short ranges. We use sub-pixel interpolation to minimize quantization errors which deteriorate the distance accuracy when calculating the distance with integer disparity, and also we use enhanced adaptive fuzzy strong tracking Kalman filter(EAFSTKF) to improve the distance accuracy and track the path optimally. The proposed method can solve the divergence problem caused by nonlinear dynamics such as various vehicle movements in the conventional Kalman filter(CKF), and also enhance the distance accuracy and reliability. Our simulation results show that the performance of our method improves by about 13.5% compared to other methods in point of root mean square error rate(RMSER).

In case of image observation equipments, CCTV for short distance visual field is usually installed and operated mostly as the means of crime-prevention. However, the extensive demand for monitoring problems in case of the increase in intelligent crimes and disasters has led to the necessity of the development of long-distance observation equipments embedded with Night View functions. In case of the Night View equipments, the relevant market is set up to be focused mostly on Thermal Observation Device(hereinafter, TOD), but some shortcomings such as the limitation of image visibility and excessive maintenance cost, etc. have actually caused the necessity of new long distance Night View equipment. Moreover there might follow lots of difficulties in long-distance visualization in the event that irregular reflection is generated by minute particles in the atmosphere such as fog, smog, and dust, etc. These factors are motivate the work presented in this study. Our study is aimed at the realization of Pulsed Laser Illuminator and newly proposed Range-Gated image acquisition technology. And also the implementation of Tracker for continuous trace of the objects of interest from the obtained sequence images.
Video image processing systems (VIPS) offer numerous benefits to transportation models and applications, due to their ability to monitor traffic in real time. VIPS based on a wide-area detection algorithm provide traffic parameters such as flow and velocity as well as occupancy and density. However, most current commercial VIPS utilize a tripwire detection algorithm that examines image intensity changes in the detection regions to indicate vehicle presence and passage, i.e., they do not identify individual vehicles as unique targets. If VIPS are developed to track individual vehicles and thus trace vehicle trajectories, many existing transportation models will benefit from more detailed information of individual vehicles. Furthermore, additional information obtained from the vehicle trajectories will improve incident detection by identifying lane change maneuvers and acceleration/deceleration patterns. However, unlike human vision, VIPS cameras have difficulty in recognizing vehicle movements over a detection zone longer than 100 meters. Over such a distance, the camera operators need to zoom in to recognize objects. As a result, vehicle tracking with a single camera is limited to detection zones under 100m. This paper develops a methodology capable of monitoring individual vehicle trajectories based on image processing. To improve traffic flow surveillance, a long distance tracking algorithm for use over 200m is developed with multi-closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The algorithm is capable of recognizing individual vehicle maneuvers and increasing the effectiveness of incident detection.
