  • This study was conducted to evaluate the forage yield and quality of Fesrulolium bmunii(Festuca prafensis Huds. x Lolium multiflomm Lam.) as a forage sources. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with four replications from Sep. 1995 to May 1998 at Chungnam University. Treatments consisted of two forage species, Festulolium bmunii(Pau1ita) and Dactylis glomerc;d4Potomac). The dry matter yields, nutritive value, N and energy balance were observed. The yields of DM, CPDM and DDM per area(ha) were higher for Potomac (P< 0.01) than for Paulita. The content of CP showed no difference between Potomac and Paulita, but NDF, ADF and lignin contents of Paulita were absolutly lower than those of Potomac (P<0.05). The retained N and energy were also high for Paulita compare to for Potomac. It could be suggested that Paulita has higher potential for improvement of the forage quality than Potomac and it have a potential to provide as a forage sources.

이탈리안 라이그라스의 2배체와 4배체 품종간 비교 (A Comparison between Diploid and Tetraploid Cultivars of Lolium multiflorum Lam, italicum)

  • The influence of ploidy level on agronomic characteristics in italian ryegrass, Lolium multiflorum Lam, italicum, was studied using diploids (2x) and tetraploids (4x) on the upland of Livestock Experiment Station, Suweon. The results are summarized as follow: 1. Tetraploid cultivars are in general dark green in leaf color and strong glittered. 2. Diploid cultivars are more resistant to cold than tetraploids but degree of resistance to cold depends on cultivars. The di-and tetraploids did not differ in summer survival and coldand heat resistance of di-Itetraploid cultivars were not related. 3. Tetraploid cultivars have larger leaf-blades, more rapid growth and higher leaf ratio to stem by heading than diploids. 4. Tetraploids possess significantly lower dry matter content than diploids. 5 . Fresh- and dry weight of tetraploids are similar with that of diploids but tetraploids are more leafy than diploids. 6. Seasonal yield depends more on the type of the cultivar than on its tetraploid nature.

칼륨 결핍이 이탈리안 라이그라스 재생기간동안의 탄소와 절소의 대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Potassium Deficiency on C and N Metabolism during Regrowth of Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.))

  • To investigate C and N metabolisms in response to potassium-deficient stress during regrowth of Italian ryegrass(Lolium multiflorum L.), C and N metabolites were analyzed at day 0 (cutting date), 6, 12 and 24 days after defoliation. K-sufficient (control, +K) and K-absent (-K) nutrition solutions were applied from 7 days before defoliation, and continued for one cycle of 24 days-regrowth period. During 24 days of regrowth dry matter of regrowing shoots and remaining tissues were not significantly different between +K and -K treatment. In remaining stubble, all C compounds in both +K and -K treatment largely decreased (69% to 84% of the initial level) during the first 6 days of regrowth, and then rapidly recovered. The decline of soluble sugars and fructan in roots for the first 6 days much less in the -K medium. Amino acids, soluble and insoluble proteins in stubble also feel down during the first 6 days, thereafter actively replenished in both +K and -K treatment. The decline of nitrate in stubble prolonged to 12 days of regrowth. Initial amounts of all N compounds in roots were significantly lower in the -K medium. Higher accumulation of amino acids and soluble protein in roots in the -K medium was observed after 12 days of regrowth. In regrowing shoots, 3 all carbohydrates increased with a very similar pattern for both treatments. Nitrate was not significantly different between two treatments. Depress of soluble protein accumulation in -K medium was noteworthy after 12 days of regrowth. These results indicated that an active utilization of organic reserves occurred to support regrowth even under K deficient condition with a similar extent with K sufficient condition.

Javanica 벼 원형질체로 부터 효율적인 식물체 재분화와 flow cytometry에 의한 ploidy 검정 (Efficient Fertile Plant Regeneration from Protoplasts of Javanica Rice and Their Ploidy Determination by Flow Cytometry)

  • Southeast Asian javanica 벼 품종 Tinawen의 진탕 배양세포로부터 나출된 원형질체의 효과적인 배양과 식물체 재분화가 조사되었다. Lolium multiforum과 Oryza ridleyi의 진탕 배양세포들을 feeder cell로 사용했고 여러가지 재분화 배지를 이용하여 원형질체로부터 유도된 colony들을 재분화 시켰으며, 또한 식물체 재분화율을 높히기 위해 원형질체로 부터 유도된 colony들을 dehydration 시켜 재분화율을 조사하였다. L multiflorum 또는 O. ridleyi의 진탕 배양세포들을 feeder cell로 사용했을 때 원형질체의 평판효율은 feeder cell type과 age에 따라 차이가 났지만 0.09%에서 1.48% 범위로 나타났고, L. multiflorum을 feeder cell로 사용했을 때가 O. ridleyi cell을 사용했을때 보다 6배 높게 원형질체 평판효율을 얻었다. Feeder cell로 L. multiflorum을 사용하여 배양된 원형질채로부터 유도된 colony들을 dehydration 시킨 경우는 19.3-31.7%, O. ridleyi을 사용한 경우는 13.0-18.0%, 또한 이들 두 진탕 배양세포들을 혼합한 것을 사용한 경우는 18.0-22.0%의 식물체 재분화율을 얻은 반면에, dehydration을 시키지 않았을 때는 각각 2.0-7.0%, 3.0-5.0%, 0-4.0%의 재분화율을 얻었다. 원형 질체에서 재분화된 식물체의 flow cytometry를 이용한 배수성 분석 결과 대부분의 식물체가 이배체로 나타난 반면, 단지 34개중 두 식물체에서만이 4배체로 나타났다. 재분화된 식물체들은 온실에 옮겨 기른 결과 정상적인 임성을 나타내었다.
