Development of Python Education Program with Computational Thinking

  • In this paper, we propose a python education program that applies computational thinking for non-majors and programming beginners. In this study, we focus on the basics of program logic, breaking away from the difficult grammar and memorization-oriented programming education. And by applying the problem-solving procedure of computational thinking, we propose an educational program that allows non-majors and programming beginners to learn programming easily. In this paper, an 8-week educational program was applied to middle school students with little text coding experience. and through a post-satisfaction survey, it was found that their confidence in programming increased, and they were able to apply computational thinking could be applied to life and other subjects. Although the importance of programming education is being emphasized, it is expected that it will be used as a useful educational program when composing program education for non-majors and beginners in programming for learners who still find it difficult to learn programming.

Design of Ternary Logic Circuits Based on Reed-Muller Expansions (Reed-Muller 전개식에 의한 3치 논리회로의 설계)

  • In this paper, we present a design method of the ternary logic circuits based on Reed-Muller expansions. The design method of the presented ternary logic circuits checks the degree of each variable for the coefficients of Reed-Holler Expansions(RME) and determines the order of optimal control input variables that minimize the number of Reed-Muller Expansions modules. The order of optimal control input variables is utilized the computation of circuit cost matrix. The ternary logic circuits of the minimized tree structures to be constructed by RME modules based on Reed-Muller Expansions are realized using the computation results of its circuit cost matrix. This method is only performed under unit time in order to search for the optimal control input variables. Also, this method is able to be programmed by computer and the run time on programming is $3^n$.

  • The computer education has not to remain literacy education but to change with object of training a member of real society which is logic in thinking, initiativeness in suit with the knowledge information-oriented society by teaching the theory of computer science. This study examined effects and applied by means of developing project- based programming teaching model for elementary students in a classroom when teachers instruct programming education This study is expected to contribute to make computer teaching methods better, by providing teachers with teaching models of computer programming education for elementary students.

  • 최근 차세대 Web 기술로서 Semantic Web이 주목 받고 있다. Semantic Web에서는 Web상에 존재하는 문서에 Web Resource들에 대한 Ontology를 기반으로 Semantic Annotation을 하고 Ontology 추론 Agent를 통하여 의미 기반으로 Web을 검색할 수 있도록 해준다. 이와 같은 Semantic Web 기술의 핵심 요소는 Web Ontology이며 W3C에서는 이를 표현 할 수 있는 표준 언어로서 RDF기반의 OWL(Web Ontology Language) 명세를 제정하고 있다. 따라서 표준 Web Ontology 언어인 OWL을 위한 추론 시스템은 Semantic Web 검색 Agent의 구현을 위한 필수적인 기반 기술이라 할 수 있으나 아직 그 개발이 미비한 상태이다. OWL 추론 시스템을 구현하기 위해서는 OWL의 이론적인 기반을 제공하는 DL(Description Logic)을 추론할 수 있는 엔진을 사용하는 것이 한가지 방법이 될 수 있으나 OWL이 Rule과 같은 DL의 범주를 벗어나는 Vocabulary를 지원하는 언어로 확장되는 경우에 이를 처리하기가 어렵다. 또 다른 방법으로서 Logic Programming을 통하여 OWL 언어의 Semantic을 기술하고 정리 증명(Theorem Proving)을 통하여 Ontology를 추론하는 공리화(Axiomatisation) 기법이 있는데 이러한 방법의 장점은 기반이 되는 Logic의 범주 내에서 새로운 언어를 위한 Vocabulary의 확장이 용이하다는 점이다. 본 논문에서는 Axiomatisation 방법을 이용하여 OWL로 기술된 Ontology를 추론할 수 있는 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대해 설명하기로 한다.

  • This paper proposes a NAND-NAND logic sequential Programmable Logic Array (PLA) using CMOS technology, and test generation methods about stuck-open faults. By using LSSD (Level Sensitive Scan Design) method instead of Flip-Flops in Sequential PLA, the complex test problems of sequential logic are simplified. After generating the test sets using connection graph, regular test sequences and all transistor faults detection method in PLA are proposed. Finally, by programming these algorithms in PASCAL at VAX 8700 and adopting these to pratical CMOS Sequential PLA circuits, we proved the effectiveness of this design.

  • A new architecture of field programmable gate array for high-speed datapath applications is presented. Its implementation is facilitated by a configurable interconnect technology based on a one-time, two-terminal programmable, very low-impedance anti-fuse and by a configurable logic module optimized for datapath applications. The configurable logic module can effectively implement diverse logic functions including sequential elements such as latches and flip-flops, and arithmetic functions such as one-bit full adder and two-bit comparator. A novel programming architecture is designed for supplying large current through the anti-fuse element, which drops the on-resistance of anti-fuse below $20{\Omega}$. The chip has been fabricated using a $0.8-{\mu}m$ n-well complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology with two layers of metalization.

  • A hybrid knowledge model which amalgamates an object-oriented modeling approach and logic programming implementation is presented for structural health monitoring and diagnosis of instrumented structures. Domain knowledge in structural monitoring and diagnosis is formalized and represented in a logic-based object-oriented modeling environment. The model and environment have been implemented and illustrated in the context of a laboratory case study of damage detection in a successively damaged steel structure.

Comparison of FPGA-based Direct Torque Controllers for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • This paper compares two types of direct torque controllers for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSMs). These controllers both use a single-chip FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) but have differing hardware configurations. One of the controllers was constructed by programming a soft-core CPU and hardware logic circuits written in VHDL(Very high speed IC Hardware Description Language), while the other was constructed of only hardware logic circuits. The characteristics of these two controllers were compared in this paper. The results show the controller constructed of only hardware logic circuits was able to shorten the control period and it was able to suppress the low torque ripple.

  • We have implemented an interactive multimedia education system for C programming. The system consists of two pars. One is multimedia contents to help students better understand C language syntax, programming style, and program logic and the other is a web-based compilation support system that compiles C programs at the server side which are submitted trough Web by students and returns their execution results to the students' PC. Although there are currently some restrictions that students should replace the inputs functions such as scanf(), getc() and getch() with assignment statements or fscanf(fp, , ), since the system has been implemented using general web technologies and shareware C compiler, the education system could be one solution that education institutions seek to reduce annual immense expenditure of money on C complier.
