능동태그 기반 위치인식 시스템의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Location-Aware System based on Active Tags)

  • 위치 인식 기능은 U-city를 구성하는 핵심 요소로서 U-city 기반 아파트 단지 등에서 상용화를 목적으로 활발히 연구, 개발되고 있다. 능동태그를 부착한 거주자나 자동차가 단지 내를 이동할 때 태그는 주기적으로 자신의 식별자를 방송하고 이를 받은 수신기들은 RSSI를 이용하여 태그의 위치를 계산한다. 문제는 수천세대 규모의 아파트 단지의 경우 동시 사용되는 태그수가 수 만개에 이르며 배터리 교체 없이 1년 이상 사용될 수 있어야 하므로 저전력 소모가 매우 중요하다는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 고려한 U-city의 1) 위치 인식 시스템의 구성을 제안하고, 2) 능동 태그 방식으로 구현할 때 기술적 이슈를 제시하며, 3) 특히, 수만개의 태그들이 동작할 때의 성능을 수학적으로 모델링하고 실제 실험을 통해 비교 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 능동태그 시스템에서 발생하는 충돌확률의 이론적 최저값을 구하고 현장 적용시 적정 수준의 태그의 갯수를 제시하였다. 연구결과는 실제 U-city 위치인식 시스템의 상세 설계에 활용될 수 있다.

저속 WPAN에서 수신신호세기의 Vector Matching을 이용한 위치 인식 방식 (Location Awareness Method using Vector Matching of RSSI in Low-Rate WPAN)

  • Recently, RFID/USN is one of fundamental technologies in information and communications networks. Low-Rate WPAN, IEEE802.15.4 is a low-cost communication network that allows wireless connectivity in applications with limited Power and relaxed throughput requirements. Its applications are building automation, personal healthcare, industrial control, consumer electronics, and so on. Some applications require location information. Of course location awareness is useful to improve usability of data Low-Rate WPAN Is regarded as a key specification of the sensor network with the characteristics of wireless communication, computing, energy scavenging, self-networking, and etc. Unfortunately ZigBee alliance propose a lot of applications based on location aware technologies, but the specification and low-rate WPAN devices don't support anything about location-based services. RSSI ( Received Signal Strength indication) is for energy detection to associate, channel selection, and etc. RSSI is used to find the location of a potable device in WLAN. In this paper we studied indoor location awareness using vector matching of RSSI in low-Rate wireless PAN. We analyzed the characteristics of RSSI according to distance and experimented location awareness. We implemented sensor nodes with different shapes and configured the sensor network for the location awareness with 4 fixed nodes and a mobile node. We try to contribute developing location awareness method using RSSI in 3-dimension space.

CLSR: Cognitive Link State Routing for CR-based Tactical Ad Hoc Networks

  • The Cognitive Radio (CR) paradigm in tactical ad hoc networks is an important element of future military communications for network-centric warfare. This paper presents a novel Cognitive Link State Routing protocol for CR-based tactical ad hoc networks. The proposed scheme provides prompt and reliable routes for Primary User (PU) activity through procedures that incorporate two main functions: PU-aware power adaptation and channel switching. For the PU-aware power adaptation, closer multipoint relay nodes are selected to prevent network partition and ensure successful PU communication. The PU-aware channel switching is proactively conducted using control messages to switch to a new available channel based on a common channel list. Our simulation study based on the ns-3 simulator demonstrates that the proposed routing scheme delivers significantly improved performance in terms of average end-to-end delay, jitter, and packet delivery ratio.

공간객체 기반의 온톨로지와 규칙을 이용한 상황정보 모델 (Context Information Model using Ontologies and Rules Based on Spatial Object)

  • 센서네트워크의 유비쿼터스 환경에서는 지능적이며 상황적응적인 서비스를 제공하기 위한 상황인식 기술이 핵심이다. 상황인식 응용을 지원하기 위해 특정 응용에 종속되지 않고 같은 환경 안에서 응용들이 공유하여 인식할 수 있는 새로운 상황정보 모델이 요구된다. 또한 상황정보모델은 다양한 상황표현과 복잡한 상황인식을 지원하여야 한다. 따라서 이 연구에서 상황인식 과정에 따라 상황정보를 정의하고 도메인 지식과 응용 지식을 온톨로지와 규칙을 이용하여 설계하였다. 공간객체모델을 이용하여 도메인의 공간 온톨로지를 표현하였으며 온톨로지를 확장한 규칙으로 응용 지식을 표현하였다. 풍부한 공간 온톨로지의 표현은 객체의 위치뿐만 아니라 객체사이의 거리와 인접한 객체에 대한 상황정보도 표현하였다. 제안한 상황정보 모델은 확장성과 유연성 및 상호교환을 가능하게 하며 기존의 GIS와 연동하여 다양한 공간상황을 표현하고 복잡한 공간상황을 인식할 수 있는 모델이다. 이 모델을 기반으로 한 시스템구조는 다양한 상황인식 응용뿐 아니라 대규모 실외 상황인식 응용인 대기오염과 재난재해방재 서비스에 적용 가능함을 제시하였다.

UbiqBIOPARC: A Wireless and Sensor Based Context-Aware System for an Enhanced Guide Experience

  • This work discusses and evaluates the use of wireless and multi-sensor based technologies to develop UbiqBIOPARC, a new generation zoological park that has been created based on the zoo-immersion concept. It offers appropriate contextual information to zoo visitors, depending on their preferences and the environment in which they are positioned. It combines the flexibility of the iPhone SDK, the connectivity provided by 3G technologies, the location capabilities of GPS, and the orientation offered by a digital compass integrated in the device. In this document the overall architecture and the implementation steps followed to create this context-aware application are presented. We compare our system with respect to previous ones and demonstrate that UbiqBIOPARC is an example of how innovative context-aware applications can be built with the aid of GPS and compass features. Several real experiments have been carried out in order to evaluate performance and system behavior, and numerical results demonstrate the practicality offered by our application, while providing a quite reasonable performance in terms of delay, usability, and energy efficiency.

Design of efficient location system for multiple mobile nodes in the wireless sensor network

  • Various design schemes for network using wireless sensor nodes have been widely studied on the several application areas ranging from the real world information collection to environmental monitor. Currently, the schemes are focused on the design of sensor network for low power consumption, power-aware routing protocol, micro miniature operating system and sensor network middleware. The indoor localization system that identifies the location of the distributed nodes in a wireless sensor network requires features dealing with mobility, plurality and other environmental constraints of a sensor node. In this paper, we present an efficient location system to cope with mobility of multiple mobile nodes by designing a location handler that processes location information selectively depending on the nodes' density in a specific region. In order to resolve plurality of multiple mobile nodes, a routing method for the location system is also proposed to avoid the occurrence of overlapped location data.

Location-Aware Fast Link Switching Scheme for Visible Light Communication Networks

  • Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning is an important issue in the design of next generation wireless network. In visible light communication (VLC) networks, link switching is a solution to maintain or improve the quality of communication. In this paper, we propose a novel link switching scheme using the location of mobile nodes (MNs). The current serving transmitter uses location history of the MN to find out which neighbor transmitter the MN is approaching. This neighbor transmitter is chosen to inform the MN as the next serving transmitter. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme gains better performance than non-predictive link switching scheme.
