This study is intended to examine the characteristics of driver in the use of guide sign in urban areas. The good and bad points about guide sign based on landmark point and guide sign based on street name are demonstrated, and driver's preference between them are studied. The questionnaires given to general persons deal with general guide signs and road maps, and are designed to see if they can find out current location on the road map with guide sign. According to the results, drivers prefer guide sign based on street name to guide sign based on landmark. And guide sign based on street name took less time to find current location than with guide sign based on landmark.

The effects of swirl on early flame development and late combustion characteristic were investigated using a high speed single-shot visualized 51 engine. LDV measurements were performed to get better understanding of the flow field in this combustion chamber. Spark plugs were located at half radius (R/2) and central location of bore. High speed schlieren photographs at 20,000 frames/sec were taken to visualize the detailed formation and development of the flame kernel with cylinder pressure measurements. This study showed that high swirl gave favorable effects on combustion-related performances in terms of the maximum cylinder pressure and flame growth rate regardless of spark position. However, at R/2 ignition the low swirl shown desirable effects at low engine speed gave worse performances as engine speed increased than without swirl. There were distinct signs of slow-down in flame growth during the period when the flame front expanded from 2.5mm in radius until it reached 5.0mm apparently due to the presence of ground electrode. There seemed to be heat transfer effect on the flame expansion speed which was evidenced in high swirl case by the slowdown of the late flame front presumably caused by relatively large heat loss from burned gas to wall compared with low- or no-swirl cases.

Primary hemangiopericytomas of the lung are uncommon sarcomas that arise from pericytes that surround the basement membrane of capillaries and small venules within the lung parenchyma. The presenting symptoms and signs depend on the location of the tumor and radiologic features are not diagnostic. The behavior of pulmonary hemangiopericytomas is difficult to predict and all tumors should be considered potentially malignant. Wide surgical excision remains the mainstay of treatment. We report a case of primary hemangiopericytoma of the lung with a brief review of literature.

The synchronized visual message system device of level crossing provides warning system with the use of developed corresponding technology when the train is approaching forward to limited distance in level crossing. To ensure of safety driving for coming transit from road, it detect the location and velocity of train and transport the information to wayside warning device to prevent the collision with train. This paper is about the detailed design of synchronize VMS for passing transit at the level crossing and develop the physical contents of level crossing VMS with expression words, operational device, massage transportation algorism which are based on the proto type study of communication method and information contents for level crossing VMS.

Materials which exhibit different elastic moduli in tension and compression are known as bimodular materials. The bimodular materials model, which is founded on the criterion of positive-negative signs of principal stress, is important for the structural analysis and design. However, due to the inherent complexity of the constitutive relation, it is difficult to obtain an analytical solution of a bimodular bending components except in particular simple problems. Based on the existent simplified model, this paper solves analytically bending thin plates with different moduli in tension and compression. By using the continuity conditions of stress components in unknown neutral layer, we determine the location of the neutral layer, and derive the governing differential equation for deflection, the flexural rigidity, and the internal forces in the thin plate. We also use a circular thin plate with bimodulus to illustrate the application of this solution derived in this paper. The results show that the introduction of different moduli has influences on the flexural stiffness of the bending thin plate.

Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze chest-trauma patients and the old-aged patients with a traumatic hemopneumothorax. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 101 chest-trauma patients admitted to the department of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery from June 1999 to November 2008. We evaluated the general characteristics of the chest-trauma patient, especially those of old-aged patients with a traumatic hemopneumothorax. Results: Rib fracture was observed in 99 of the cases, the location distribution was right: left =261: 255, with right being dominant. Rib fractures commonly involved the 4th and the 7th rib. The average number of rib fractures was 5.1, and the average number of rib fractures in the old-aged patients was significantly higher than that in the non-old-aged patients (p=0.04). There were 17 cases of a hemopnuemothorax in old-aged patients, 52 cases in non-old-aged patients. The blood loss through the chest tube for old-aged patients was significantly more than that for the non-old-aged patients, and the initial hemoglobin level was lower in the old-aged patients. Conclusion: Elderly trauma patients are more likely to die after trauma than other age groups. Even with relatively stable vital signs, invasive hemodynamic monitoring and intensive treatment are recommended.

Three dogs were presented with signs of recurrence of coughing, dyspnea and difficulty of barking after endotracheal stent placement. On the basis of history taking, physical examination, laboratory tests and radiography, complications of endotracheal stent were suspected. Dog 1 had unfitted stent diameter (stent diameter is larger than tracheal diameter) and getting disentangled of proximal tracheal stent wire. Dog 2 was suspected a foreign body reaction. Dog 3 had the migration of stent caudally. Based on these cases, the veterinarian should accurately evaluate the indicated patients before endotracheal stent and has to select the appropriate stent (diameter, length and location) to prevent complications after endotracheal stent and concern the regular follow-ups to assure proper endotracheal stent placement.

DongEuiBoGam is emphasis on body form, temper, body color, pulse(形氣色脈) and the functional difference of organs by body form and body color. there are many problems in order to unify the theory of Korea traditional medicine by china BeunJungLonChi. I suggest that a new assortment that can combine Sasang constitutional medicine(四象醫學), Constitution-Acupuncture(體質針), and Hyungsang medicine(四象醫學) will be necessary. BeunJungLonChi : diagnosis and treatment based on overall analysis of symptoms and signs, the cause, nature and location of the illness and the patient's physical condition according to the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine

Parapharyngeal space tumors are extremely rare accounting for about 0.5% of all head and neck tumors and treat mostly by surgical removal. Due to their inherent location, they present with varied non-specific signs and symptoms, resulting in a delay in diagnosis and unnecessary procedures, such as a 'tonsillectomy' or 'incision and drainage' of a 'quinsy'. We recently confirmed a case about a the neurilemnoma on parapharyngeal space during tonsillectomy. To present our experience with the transoral approach for parapharyngeal space tumor and describe our technique for removal of these neoplasms. Although parapharyngeal space tumours are uncommon, recognizing them would enable the correct sequence of investigations, instead of unnecessary procedures resulting in an increased morbidity for the patient.

Rockfall and landslide bring about a great social loss with loss of property such as obstruction of traffic and damage of the crops as well as casualty. The purpose of this study is to develop a mobile equipment for local risk factors detecting of road slope. The mobile equipment is designed to receive the sensing data from the measurement sensors, which are installed to detect the dangerous signs from the slopes, as loaded on a vehicle which is moving around to the places where the sensors are installed. In general, more than one mandatory data logger, which is very expensive, must be installed at each slope for the automatic measuring system, but in case of this developmental system, the inexpensive routine measurement can be performed regardless of the number of slopes due to the single unit of information gathering vehicle. This study is going to develop technologies that are expected to be applied to not only slope but also tunnel and bridges which might have the partial risk and need measuring.
