상업용 도시재생 모듈러 건축물의 공간이용에 따른 실내공기질 평가 (Indoor Air Quality Evaluation of Commercial Urban Regeneration Modular Structure According to Space Usage)

  • From 2000s, modular construction has gained more attention due to many advantages such as reduction of duration, recycling. The modular structure is being used for urban regeneration recently. However, even though most facilities in the modular structures which are used as urban regeneration building are commercial spaces, exhibition spaces, eating and drinking spaces, there are lack of natural or mechanical ventilation systems. Also, there are relatively limited spaces on modular structure characteristic. Therefore, indoor environment performance of four buildings, which are performed as urban regeneration in Seoul, was evaluated by HCHO and $CO_2$ emissions. Consequently, the HCHO and $CO_2$ emissions of the commercial and exhibition spaces were confirmed that can influence on health of occupants. Therefore, the urban regeneration modular structure needs to add local ventilation systems for improvement of indoor air quality to more healthy and comfortable.

KZ 필터법을 이용한 서울지역 미세먼지 농도의 장기변화 분석 (Long Term Analysis of PM10 Concentration in Seoul Using KZ Filter)

  • Local meteorological conditions exert a strong influence over day-to-day variations in air pollutant concentrations. Therefore, the meteorological fluctuations have to be removed in order for air quality planners and managers to examine underlying emissions-related trends and make better air quality management decisions for future. In this study, the meteorologically adjusted $PM_{10}$ trends in Seoul are investigated over the period $1999{\sim}2006$ using Kolmogorov-Zurbenco (KZ) filter. The result indicated that meteorologicaJ variability accounts for about 25% of $PM_{10}$ variability. Both the meteorologically adjusted and unadjusted Jong-term daily $PM_{10}$ concentrations had a significant downward trends and the difference between the meteorologically adjusted and unadjusted was small. So it was assumed that in long-term daily $PM_{10}$ changes, localized changes in emissions is more important than the changes caused by meteorological conditions.

CHANGE OF CATALYST TEMPERATURE WITH UEGI TECHNOLOGY DURING COLD START

  • Most of the pollutants from passenger cars are emitted during the cold-transient phase of the FTP-75 test. In order to reduce the exhaust emissions during the cold-transient period, it is essential to warm up the catalyst as fast as possible after the engine starts, and the Unburned Exhaust Gas Ignition (UEGI) technology was developed through our previous studies to help close-coupled catalytic converters (CCC) reach the light-off temperature within a few seconds after cold-start. The UEGI system operates by igniting the unburned exhaust mixture by glow plugs installed upstream of the catalyst. The flame generates a high amount of heat, and if the heat is concentrated on a specific area of monolith surface, then thermal crack or failure of the monolith could occur. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the temperature distribution in the CCC during the UEGI operation, so the local temperatures in the monolith were measured using thermocouples. Experimental results showed that the temperature of CCC rises faster with the UEGI technology, and the CCC reaches the light-off temperature earlier than the baseline case. Under the conditions tested, the light-off time of the baseline case was 62 seconds, compared with 33 seconds for the UEGI case. The peak temperature is well under the thermal melting condition, and temperature distribution is not so severe as to consider thermal stress. It is noted that the UEGI technology is an effective method to warm up the catalyst with a small amount of thermal stress during the cold start period.

Application of a comparative analysis of random forest programming to predict the strength of environmentally-friendly geopolymer concrete

  • The construction industry, one of the biggest producers of greenhouse emissions, is under a lot of pressure as a result of growing worries about how climate change may affect local communities. Geopolymer concrete (GPC) has emerged as a feasible choice for construction materials as a result of the environmental issues connected to the manufacture of cement. The findings of this study contribute to the development of machine learning methods for estimating the properties of eco-friendly concrete, which might be used in lieu of traditional concrete to reduce CO2 emissions in the building industry. In the present work, the compressive strength (fc) of GPC is calculated using random forests regression (RFR) methodology where natural zeolite (NZ) and silica fume (SF) replace ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS). From the literature, a thorough set of experimental experiments on GPC samples were compiled, totaling 254 data rows. The considered RFR integrated with artificial hummingbird optimization (AHA), black widow optimization algorithm (BWOA), and chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA), abbreviated as ARFR, BRFR, and CRFR. The outcomes obtained for RFR models demonstrated satisfactory performance across all evaluation metrics in the prediction procedure. For R2 metric, the CRFR model gained 0.9988 and 0.9981 in the train and test data set higher than those for BRFR (0.9982 and 0.9969), followed by ARFR (0.9971 and 0.9956). Some other error and distribution metrics depicted a roughly 50% improvement for CRFR respect to ARFR.

도시 대기 중 PM10에 함유된 다환방향족탄화수소의 농도분포특성과 주요 영향인자 (Characteristics of and Affecting Factors on the Concentrations of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Associated with PM10in the Urban Atmosphere)

  • The atmospheric concentrations of particulate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) associated with PM$_{10}$ were determined in Taegu metropolitan area. Sampling was undertaken every five days throughout one year period from 1993 to 1994 at four sites, representing a residential, a commercial, an industrial, and a sub-urban area, respectively. Benzo (e) pyrene, benzo (k) fluoranthene, and chrysene were found to be the most abundant com-pounds during the study period. The concentrations of benzo (a) pyrene, one of carcinogenic PAHs, ranged 2.0~4.8 ng/㎥ in winter and 0.5~1.5 ng/㎥ in summer season, indicating a marked seasonal variation. It was found that there were very similar patterns in the relative profiles of PM$_{10}$-bound PAH concentrations among the four sampling sites, while the absolute levels of each PAH were significantly different from each site. In addition, the patterns of summer to winter concentration ratios for each PAH were almost identical between the different sites. Despite difficulties due to the lack of good markers for specific sources in the target compounds, we were able to evaluate and describe the effects of vehicle emissions and space heatings, using relative profiles of PAHs, winter to summer (W/S) ratios, PAH-to-PAH ratios, and the result of principal component analysis. As a con-sequence, it was concluded that the vehicle emissions in urban and sub -urban areas are likely to be a major contributor for PAH loadings in the ambient atmosphere during the non-heating season, while the contributions of residential heating and local industrial oil burning emissions were highly significant in heating season.son.

수도권 지역별 목표대기질 달성을 위한 오염배출 삭감율 산정 연구 (An Estimation of Emission Reduction Rates to Achieve the Target Air Quality in Seoul Metropolitan Area)

  • This study was carried out to estimate the emission reduction rates for the regional allowable emissions by special measures to achieve the target air quality in Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA). A modeling system was designed to validate the details in enforcement regulations set up by local governments based on the current status and plans for air quality improvement. Modeling system was composed of meteorological model (MM5), emission model (SMOKE), and air quality model (CMAQ). Predicted results by this system show quiet well not only daily air pollutants concentration but also the tendencies of wind direction, wind speed and temperature. To achieve the target air quality in Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA), emission allowances are estimated by seasons and regions. Referring to the base year 2002, it was estimated that emission reduction rates to achieve the intermediate goal in 2007 were 14.2% and 16.6% for NOx and $PM_{10}$, respectively. It was also estimated that 52% of NOx and 48% of $PM_{10}$ reductions from the base year 2002 would be required to accomplish the air quality improvement goal of 22 ppb for $NO_2$, and $40mg/m^3$ for $PM_{10}$ in year 2014. To improve $NO_2$ and $PM_{10}$ concentration through emissions reduction policies, it was found that emissions reduction for the on-road mobile sources would be the most effective in SMA.

다양한 주행모드에 따른 천연가스(CNG) 및 경유 사용 대형자동차의 배출가스 특성에 관한 연구 (An Investigation on the Emission Characteristics of Heavy-duty Vehicles using CNG and Diesel Fuel According to the Various Driving Cycles)

  • The contribution levels of emissions from the heavy-duty vehicles have been continuously increased. Among the exhaust emissions, NOx (nitric oxides) have a ratio of 73.2% and particle matters have a proportion of 61.8% in the heavy-duty vehicles. Also, natural gas vehicles have the 78.9% of total registered local buses in Korea. Therefore, the investigation on emission characteristics of heavy-duty vehicles using CNG and diesel fuel according to the various driving cycles was carried out in this study. In order to analyze the emission characteristics, the five kinds of buses by using CNG and diesel fuels with a after-treatment devices (DPF, p-DPF) was used and five test driving schedules were applied for analysis of emission characteristics in a chassis dynamometer. To analyze the exhaust emission, the exhaust emission and PM analyzers were used. From this study, it is revealed that diesel buses with after-treatment had reduced emission of CO, HC, PM but NOx. Also, NMHC emission of CNG bus have a higher level and NOx level was similar with diesel buses. In addition, emissions in NIER06 with slow average speed shows lowest levels compared to other test modes.

3-연소실형 GDI Engine의 성능 및 배기 배출물 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Characteristics of Performance and Exhaust Emissions of 3-Chamber GDI Engine)

  • Recently gasoline direct injection method has been applied to gasoline engine to reduce fuel consumption rate by controlling fuel air mixture on lean condition by means of stratified charging, and to reduce simultaneously. Pollutant emissions especially NOx and CO by lowering the combustion temperature. But difficulty of controling local fuel air ratio at ignition area in flammability limit unavoidably appeared, because it is merely controlled by injection timing with spatial and temporal distribution of fuel mixture. In this study, the authors devised a uniquely shaped combustion chamber so called three-chamber GDI engine, intended to keep the more reliable fuel air ratio at ignition area. The combustion chamber is divided into three regions. The first region is in the rich combustion division, where the fuel is injected from the fuel injection valve and ignited by the spark plug. The second region is in the lean combustion division, where the combustion gas from the rich combustion division flows out and burns on lean condition. And the last region is in the main combustion division ie in the cylinder, where the gas from the above two combustion divisions mixed together and completes the combustion during expansion stroke. They found that the stable range of operation of three-chamber GDI engine on low-load condition exists in the lean area of average equivalence ratio. And they also found that the reformed engine reveals less specific fuel consumption and less pollutant emissions compared with conventional carburettor type gasoline engine.

도시공간 계획요소를 이용한 이산화탄소 배출량 산정 모델 개발 - 서울시를 사례로 (Carbon Emission Model Development using Urban Planning Criteria - Focusing on the Case of Seoul)

  • 도시공간은 온실가스배출의 주원인지로 온실가스 저감을 위해서는 도시적 차원의 대책이 무엇보다 필요하다. 본 연구는 도시공간을 조성하는데 있어서 활용할 수 있는 이산화탄소 배출량 산정 모델을 개발하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 위해, 첫째로 물리적 규모, 이용현황, 활동강도와 관련된 도시공간 계획요소를 이론고찰을 통해 선정하였다. 둘째, 전력, 도시가스, 지역난방, 석유, 상수도 사용량 자료에 기반한 이산화탄소 배출량을 산정하였다. 셋째, 서울시를 사례연구대상지로 선정하고 도시공간 계획요소와 이산화탄소 배출량 간의 관계분석을 통해 도시공간의 이산화탄소 배출량 산정 모델을 개발하였다. 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 다양한 노력들이 도시공간에서 시도되고 있으나, 도시 전체의 탄소배출량과 같은 총량적 관점의 한계가 있었다. 그러나 본 연구의 도시공간 계획요소에 따른 이산화탄소 배출량 산정 모델은 탄소저감을 위한 도시차원에서의 해결방안으로 활용할 수 있는 국지적 범위에서의 보다 구체적인 모델을 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 기존 연구와의 차별된다.

다양한 시험모드와 환경조건에 따른 LPG 차량의 배출특성 연구 (A Study on the Emissions Characteristics of a LPG Vehicle According to Various Test Modes and Ambient Conditions)

  • 국내 외에서 대기 오염에 대한 관심은 높은 편이며, 자동차 및 연료 연구자들은 깨끗한 (친환경 대체연료) 연료와 연료 품질에 맞춘 새로운 엔진 설계의 구성, 혁신적인 후처리 시스템 등의 접근을 통하여 차량의 배기가스 배출을 줄이려고 노력하고 있다. 이러한 연구는 다음과 같은 다양한 주요 이슈를 가져오게 된다. PM 배출량이 디젤과 가솔린 차량에 대해 규제해야 하는지 여부와 가솔린 및 LPG 차량이 PM 배출가스 규제에서 무시될 수 있는지 여부이다. 마지막으로 온실 가스 규제가 자동차 배출 규제를 포함하여 논의 것 등이다. 자동차의 온실 가스 및 배출가스는 경오염, 건강 악영향 등의 원인으로 많은 문제점을 일으키게 된다. 다양한 차량 시험모드 및 환경조건에 기초하여, 본 논문에서는 배출가스와 온실가스에 대한 LPG 차량의 특성을 논의하였다. 또한 본 논문은 시험 온도에 대한 배출가스 특성을 평가하였다. 이때의 시험온도는 시험모드 상의 온도와 국내 겨울철 최저온도를 기준으로 나누어서 실시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 시험모드 및 환경조건, 배출가스, 온실가스의 상관관계를 분석하고자 하였다.
