As the availability of images from Airborne Digital Camera with high resolution is expanded, a lot of concern are in the production and update of digital map. This study presents the method of updating the digital map at the scale of 1/1,000 using images from Aerial Digital Camera. Geometric correction was completed using GPS surveying data. For digital mapping, digital photogrammetric system was utilized to digitize buildings and roads. The absolute positional accuracy was evaluated using GPS surveying data and the relative positional accuracy was evaluated using the digital map produced by analytical mapping. The absolute positional accuracy was as follows: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.172m\;and\;{\pm}0.127m$, and average distance error was 0.208m. The relative positional accuracy was as follows: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.238m\;and\;{\pm}0.281m$, and average distance error was 0.337m. Accuracies of updating digital map using images from airborne Digital Camera were within allowable error established by NGII. Consequently, images from airborne Digital Camera can be used in various fields including the production of the national basic map and the GIS of local government.
In the face space, face images due to illumination and pose variations have a nonlinear distribution. Active Appearance Models (AAM) based on the linear model have limits to the nonlinear distribution of face images. In this paper, we assume that a few clusters of face images are given; we build local AAMs according to the clusters of face images, and then select a proper AAM model during the fitting phase. To solve the problem of updating fitting parameters among the models due to the model changing, we propose to build in advance relationships among the clusters in the parameter space from the training images. In addition, we suggest a gradual model changing to reduce improper model selections due to serious fitting failures. In our experiment, we apply the proposed model to Yale Face Database B and compare it with the previous method. The proposed method demonstrated successful fitting results with strongly illuminated face images of deep shadows.
A thermal imaging sensor receives the radiating energy from the target and the background, so it has been widely used for detection, tracking, and classification of targets at night for military purpose. In recognizing the target automatically using thermal images, if the correct edges of object are used then it can generate the classification results with high accuracy. However since the thermal images have lower spatial resolution and more blurred edges than color images, the accuracy of the classification using thermal images can be decreased. In this paper, to overcome this problem, a new hierarchical classifier using both shape and local features based on the segmentation reliabilities, and the class/pose updating method for vehicle classification are proposed. The proposed classification method was validated using thermal video sequences of more than 20,000 images which include four types of military vehicles - main battle tank, armored personnel carrier, military truck, and estate car. The experiment results showed that the proposed method outperformed the state-of-the-arts methods in classification accuracy.

An accurate and efficient numerical method for two-dimensional nonlinear radiation problem has been developed. The wave motion due to a moving body is described by the assumption of ideal fluid flow, and the governing Laplace equation can be effectively solved by the higher-order boundary element method with the help of the GMRES (Generalized Minimal RESidual) algorithm. The intersection or corner problem is resolved by utilizing the so-called discontinuous elements. The implicit trapezoidal rule is used in updating solutions at new time steps by considering stability and accuracy. Traveling waves caused by the oscillating body are absorbed downstream by the damping zone technique. It is demonstrated that the present method for time marching and radiation condition works efficiently for nonlinear radiation problem. To avoid the numerical instability enhanced by the local gathering of grid points, the regriding technique is employed so that all the grids on the free surface may be distributed with an equal distance. This makes it possible to reduce time interval and improve numerical stability. Special attention is paid to the local flow around the body during time integration. The nonlinear radiation force is calculated by the "acceleration potential technique". Present results show good agreement with other numerical computations and experiments.

In this paper, we proposed VW-FedAVG(Validation based Weighted FedAVG) which updates the global model by weighting according to performance verification from the models of each device participating in the training. The first method is designed to validate each local client model through validation dataset before updating the global model with a server side validation structure. The second is a client-side validation structure, which is designed in such a way that the validation data set is evenly distributed to each client and the global model is after validation. MNIST, CIFAR-10 is used, and the IID, Non-IID distribution for image classification obtained higher accuracy than previous studies.
The destruction and fracture of rock masses are crucial components in engineering and there is an increasing demand for the study of the influence of rock mass heterogeneity on the safety of engineering projects. The numerical manifold method (NMM) has a unified solution format for continuous and discontinuous problems. In most NMM studies, material homogeneity has been assumed and despite this simplification, fracture mechanics remain complex and simulations are inefficient because of the complicated topology updating operations that are needed after crack propagation. These operations become computationally expensive especially in the cases of heterogeneous materials. In this study, a heterogeneous model algorithm based on stochastic theory was developed and introduced into the NMM. A new fracture algorithm was developed to simulate the rupture zone. The algorithm was validated for the examples of the four-point shear beam and semi-circular bend. Results show that the algorithm can efficiently simulate the rupture zone of heterogeneous rock masses. Heterogeneity has a powerful effect on the macroscopic failure characteristics and uniaxial compressive strength of rock masses. The peak strength of homogeneous material (with heterogeneity or standard deviation of 0) is 2.4 times that of heterogeneous material (with heterogeneity of 11.0). Moreover, the local distribution of parameter values can affect the configuration of rupture zones in rock masses. The local distribution also influences the peak value on the stress-strain curve and the residual strength. The post-peak stress-strain curve envelope from 60 random calculations can be used as an estimate of the strength of engineering rock masses.
Structural identification via modal analysis in structural mechanics is gaining popularity in recent years, despite conceptual difficulties connected with its use. This paper is devoted to illustrate both the capabilities and the indeterminacy characterizing structural identification problems even in quite simple instances, as well as the cautions that should be accordingly adopted. In particular, we discuss an application of an identification technique of variational type, based on the measurement of eigenfrequencies and mode shapes, to a steel frame with friction joints under various assembling conditions. Experience has suggested, so as to restrict the indeterminacy frequently affecting identification issues, having resort to all the a priori acknowledged information on the system, to the symmetry and presence of structural elements with equal stiffness, to mention one example, and mindfully selecting the parameters to be identified. In addition, considering that the identification techniques have a local character and correspond to the updating of a preliminary model of the structure, it is important that the analytical model on the first attempt should be adequately accurate. Secondly, it has proved determinant to cross the results of the dynamic identification with tests of other typology, for instance, static tests, so as to fully understand the structural behavior and avoid the indeterminacy due to the nonuniqueness of the inverse problem.
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is an endemic disease within specific regions in the world. Radiotherapy is the main treatment. In recent decades, intensity-modulated radiation therapy has undergone a rapid evolution. Compared with two-dimensional radiotherapy and/or three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, evidence has shown it may improve quality of life and prognosis for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In addition, helical tomotherapy is an emerging technology of intensity-modulated radiation therapy. Its superiority in dosimetric and clinical outcomes has been demonstrated when compared to traditional intensity-modulated radiation therapy. However, many challenges need to be overcome for intensity-modulated radiation therapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the future. Issues such as the status of concurrent chemotherapy, updating of target delineation, the role of replanning during IMRT, the causes of the main local failure pattern require settlement. The present study reviews traditional intensity-modulated radiation therapy, helical tomotherapy, and new challenges in the management of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
This paper proposes a novel binary ant colony optimization (NBACO) method. The proposed NBACO is based on the concept and principles of ant colony optimization (ACO), and developed to solve the binary and combinatorial optimization problems. The concept of conventional ACO is similar to Heuristic Dynamic Programming. Thereby ACO has the merit that it can consider all possible solution sets, but also has the demerit that it may need a big memory space and a long execution time to solve a large problem. To reduce this demerit, the NBACO adopts the state probability matrix and the pheromone intensity matrix. And the NBACO presents new updating rule for local and global search. The proposed NBACO is applied to test power systems of up to 100-unit along with 24-hour load demands.
This article deals mainly with two objectives viz, 1) the potentiality of very high-resolution(VHR) multi-spectral and pan chromatic QuickBird satellite data in resources mapping over moderate resolution satellite data (IRS LISS III) and 2) the advantages of using object oriented classification method of eCognition software in land use and land cover analysis over the ISODATA classification method. These VHR data offers widely acceptable metric characteristics for cartographic updating and increase our ability to map land use in geometric detail and improve accuracy of local scale investigations. This study has been carried out in the Sukkalampatti mini-watershed, which is situated in the Eastern Ghats of Tamil Nadu, India. The eCognition object oriented classification method succeeded in most cases to achieve a high percentage of right land cover class assignment and it showed better results than the ISODATA pixel based one, as far as the discrimination of land cover classes and boundary depiction is concerned.
