Practical problem-solving studies in a company or organization have provided great advantages for our university and students. For example, such studies can lead them to build a stronger relationship with local governments and companies as well as develop their research through collaborative studies. On the other hand, comments from companies or organizations that accepted our students showed that they did not always have advantages. This study seeks ways to establish a sustainable long-term internship program that can offer advantages for companies. Advantages and disadvantages of the internship are written by the company on the evaluated sheet. These feedback comments are analyzed by text-mining approach. It is shown that there are three types of company and organizations depending on their reasons for accepting students. Next, suitable internship programs for each type, including their period and expense distribution are presented.

A finite element analysis of a trunnion pipe anchor is presented. The structure is analyzed for the case of internal pressure and moment loadings. The stress results are categorized into the average (membrane) stress, the linearly varying (bending) stress and the peak stress through the thickness. The resulting stresses are interpreted per Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code from which the Primary(B$_1$), Secondary(C$_1$) and Peak(K$_1$) stress indices for pressure, the Primary (B$_2$), Secondary(C$_2$) and Peak(K$_2$) stress indices for moment are developed. Based on the comparison between stress value by stress indices derived in this paper and stress value represented by the ASME Code Case N-391-1, the empirical equations for stress indices are effectively used in the piping stress analysis. Therefore, the use of empirical equations can simplify the procedure of evaluating the local stress in the piping design stage.

The design of LAI(Local Area Identifier), the first paging area for searching the mobile terminal has a close relation with the performance of paging channel in CDMA cellular network. This paper discusses the performance of the forward channel of IS-95 CDMA standard, known as the paging through the related messages such as call control message, channel assignment message. Modeling and simulation work were conducted to quantify the performance of paging channel in terms of traffic handling capacity and blocking levels. This result serves as illustrative guidelines for the proper engineering of common control channel, which has a major impact on the overall performance of cellular network.

This paper describes the SEAS which is a 2-dimensional graphic editor for schematic circuit and IC mask layout. This system runs on general purpose computer and Tektronix 4110 series graphic terminal. With this system, user can edit schematic circuits and/or IC mask layout with 2 level hierarchy. This system supports more than 20 kinds of built-in symbol, user definable internal symbols, 60 macros, 16 function keys, 4 level on-screen menu operation and edit-in-place of cell in main drawing. And it provides editing functions such as reflection, rotation, move and copy of one or a group of elements, and modification of polygona geometry etc. To improve the excution speed, we used local memory of graphic terminal. For the portability of the program, the system is written in FORTRAN 77 programming language.

A local wind model and a three dimensional local environmental model including advection, diffusion, deposition. and photochemical reactions were performed at Gwangyang Bay, Korea, to predict air flow and air pollutants concentrations. A large grid was used, and nesting method was employed for small grid calculation. From the meterological module simulation, we were able to reproduce local wind characteristics such as sea/land winds and mountain/valley winds simulation at Gwangyang Bay. In addition, the concentration module showed high concentration regions at Yosu industrial complex, Gwangyang steel company. and Container anchor. It was also seen that air pollutants were dispersed by sea/land winds. A comparison between the measurement and the prediction of sulfur dioxide and nitric oxide, which are relatively low-reacted pollutants, was performed. However, the measured nitrogen dioxide and ozone concentrations were higher than the simulated ones. Particularly, ozone concentration between 8 a..m. and 8 p.m. agreed well, but the measured ozone during the rest of time were generally higher.

Power generation using solar PV and wind power are more feasible to compete with fossil fuel power generation. However, residential acceptance is still a big challenge in the deployment of renewable energy. The Korean government has implemented various policies to support the development of renewable energy in which communities invest. However, there are very few cases of the commercial operation of community-invested renewable energy power plants. Renewable energy has attracted attention in the reduction of greenhouse gasses (GHG) effects and economic feasibility. However, it is also necessary to focus on socio-economic effects to overcome the economic recession while reducing greenhouse emissions. Community-invested renewable energy development projects can positively revitalize the local economy in many aspects, such as resident income, job creation, and the growth of local businesses. This study analyzes the local economic impact of renewable energy development projects on residents' income and job creation. It increased local companies' sales through community-invested development projects in Korea.

This study reviewed corporate social responsibility activities of fashion companies and discussed strategies of social enterprises. The research was conducted on 6 Korean fashion companies with sales over KRW 1 trillion as of the end of the term in 2015. Corporate social responsibility activities of each company were investigated from economic, social and environmental viewpoints. The results of this study were as follows: First, each company promoted win-win growth, co-existence management, transparent management and ethics management through economic activities. They pursued win-win growth and co-existence management, which aimed to respect and grow with their partners. Also, they ensured transparent management and ethics management to show their moral management. Second, each company conducted various social contribution programs as part of their social activities. Through the programs, they made donations, supported welfare and culture, and practiced voluntary work, local activities, training and equal opportunities. Third, as for environmental activities, each company tried to protect nature through various activities such as donation to environmental organizations, environmental cleanup activities, environmental management from production to disposal, reuse, eco-friendly system, environmental volunteering, etc. Articles on fashion companies' social responsibility activities have an influence on boosting their attitude and image towards businesses.

국내의 송전선 지지물 설계는 전기설비기술기준과 한국전력공사 송전설계기준에 근거하여 적용되며, 철탑하중에 큰 비중을 갖는 풍하중기준은 1985년 기상청의 풍속 데이터를 반영하여 1987년경에 제정된 지침을 지금까지 적용하고 있다. 당시 제정된 설계기준에서는 지역별 풍속 차이에 따라 I, II, III, 지역 및 울릉도로 구분하여 차등 적용하는 설계개념으로 주변여건을 고려하지 않고 동일한 지역내에 위치하고 있는 송전지지물의 경우에는 동일한 풍하중을 적용하는 방식이다. 최근 해외 철탑설계기준과 국내 건축물 설계기준에서는 전산기술의 발달로 국부적인 지형영향을 고려하여 철탑별로 개별적인 풍하중을 산정하는 방식을 채택하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 상용 송전선로 설계가 진행되고 있는 군산-새만금 예정 경과지 가운데 지형조건을 고려한 풍속할증이 요구되는 개소에 대한 설계 풍하중 검토사례를 소개한다.

Purpose - This research addresses the question of how an international retailer like Costco can succeed in a foreign mature market and satisfy the local consumers. Our study aims to promote our understanding of how foreign retailers influence local consumers in a mature market with differentiated business models. Research design, data, and methodology - Our study uses company publications, secondary sources of information and the results of a questionnaire survey consisting of 106 participants. Consumer responses were solicited through a questionnaire survey conducted in the city of Kobe in December of 2013. Results - Product differentiation from local retailers in a mature market like Japan gave Costco a competitive edge. Compared with local supermarkets, Costco was preferred by Japanese consumers for its variety of goods that it carries, as well as in-store promotion large package of selling units, in-store amenities, and customer services. Conclusions - First, a theoretical framework is proposed in this study that can aid in developing localization strategies in a mature market such as Japan. Second, it reveals that an international retailer can succeed in a foreign market by stimulating local consumers to change their purchasing behavior, without having to alter the prevailing format of operation.

This paper examined the present status of local newspapers and their problems. It was originated from the fact that the number of local newspapers have continuously increased since 1987 when the establishment of newspaper company became convenient, and that as a result the competition among local newspapers became high and several unexpected negative out comes brought forth. The analytical focus of this parer was placed on the internal and external environments surroundings local newspapers. The results showed followings: There are too many local newspapers competing each other in the same area; Financial crises mainly caused by over-competition are critical; Ownership and business operations are too distorted to take the socially expected role of newspapers; Many newspapers are often mobilized for the political and economic purposes of the owner; Market rules and advertising inducement practices are likely to be violated because of over-competition; the morales of Journalists are decreased and work qualities are deteriorated. On the basis of these findings this paper suggested several policy implications: The structure of ownership has to be changed into a direction where a few major stock-holders cannot influence the whole business operations; Top managers have to change their business motivation from profit-seeking to profit-sharing; business practices has to be open and clean; New editorial polices attracting readers have to be established; qualified Journalists have to be recruited and they have to be retrained throughout their career life.
