  • With the mobile traffic in the network increases exponentially, multi-access edge computing (MEC) develops rapidly. MEC servers are deployed geo-distribution, which serve many mobile terminals locally to improve users' QoE (Quality of Experience). When the cache space of a MEC server is full, how to replace the cached videos is an important problem. The problem is also called the cache replacement problem, which becomes more complex due to the dynamic video popularity and the varied video sizes. Therefore, we proposed a new cache replacement scheme based on local video popularity and video size to solve the cache replacement problem of MEC servers. First, we built a local video popularity model, which is composed of a popularity rise model and a popularity attenuation model. Furthermore, the popularity attenuation model incorporates a frequency-dependent attenuation model and a frequency-independent attenuation model. Second, we formulated a utility based on local video popularity and video size. Moreover, the weights of local video popularity and video size were quantitatively analyzed by using the information entropy. Finally, we conducted extensive simulation experiments based on the proposed scheme and some compared schemes. The simulation results showed that our proposed scheme performs better than the compared schemes in terms of hit rate, average delay, and server load under different network configurations.

  • Information Centric Networking (ICN) has recently attracted great attention. It names the content decoupling from the location and introduces network caching, making the content to be cached anywhere within the network. The benefits of such design are obvious, however, many challenges still need to be solved. Among them, the local caching policy is widely discussed and it can be further divided into two parts, namely the cache permission policy and the cache replacement policy. The former is used to decide whether an incoming content should be cached while the latter is used to evict a cached content if required. The Internet is a user-oriented network and popular contents always have much more requests than unpopular ones. Caching such popular contents closer to the user's location can improve the network performance, and consequently, the local caching policy is required to identify popular contents. However, considering the line speed requirement of ICN routers, the local caching policy whose complexity is larger than O(1) cannot be applied. In terms of the replacement policy, Least Recently Used (LRU) is selected as the default one for ICN because of its low complexity, although its ability to identify the popular content is poor. Hence, the identification of popular contents should be completed by the cache permission policy. In this paper, a cache permission policy called Cache-Filter, whose complexity is O(1), is proposed, aiming to store popular contents closer to users. Cache-Filter takes the content popularity into account and achieves the goal through the collaboration of on-path nodes. Extensive simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of Cache-Filter. Leave Copy Down (LCD), Move Copy Down (MCD), Betw, ProbCache, ProbCache+, Prob(p) and Probabilistic Caching with Secondary List (PCSL) are also implemented for comparison. The results show that Cache-Filter performs well. For example, in terms of the distance to access to contents, compared with Leave Copy Everywhere (LCE) used by Named Data Networking (NDN) as the permission policy, Cache-Filter saves over 17% number of hops.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy proxy cache scheme for caching web documents in mobile base stations. In this scheme, a mobile cache model is used to facilitate data caching and data replication. Using the proposed cache scheme, the individual proxy in the base station makes cache decisions based solely on its local knowledge of the global cache state so that the entire wireless proxy cache system can be effectively managed without centralized control. To improve the performance of proxy caching, the proposed cache scheme predicts the direction of movement of mobile hosts, and uses various cache methods for neighboring proxy servers according to the fuzzy-logic-based control rules based on the membership degree of the mobile host. The performance of our cache scheme is evaluated analytically in terms of average response delay and average energy cost, and is compared with that of other mobile cache schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a smallcell local caching algorithm under user's context in smallcell environment. The proposed system reduces traffic to core network and the network cost, but increases it's performance. The proposed algorithm precache suitable files using smallcell's regional characteristics and target's personality. It can adjusts a storage allocation to make effective usage of our limited cache storage capacity. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed cache algorithm, we define the cache efficiency, the decrement of core network traffic. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve performance by about 200% compared to existing web cache scheme.

  • This paper proposes on-chip instruction and data cache memories on RISC reduced instruction set computer) architecture which supports fast instruction fetch and data read/write, and enables RISC processor under research to obtain high performance. In the execution of HLL(high level language) programs, heavily used local scalar variables are stored in large register file, but arrays, structures, and global scalar variables are difficult for compiler to allocate registers. These problems can be solved by on-chip Instruction/Data cache. And each cycle of instruction fetch, pad delay causes the lowering of the processors's performance. Cache memories are designed in CMOS technology and SRAM(static-RAM), that saves layout area and power dissipation, is used for instruction and data storage. To speed up and support RISC processor's piplined architecture efficiently, hardwired logic technology is used overall circuits i cache blocks. The schematic capture and timing simulation of proposed cache memorises are performed on Apollo DN4000 workstation using Mentor Graphics CAD tools.

  • Mobile applications and social networks tend to enhance the need for high-quality content access. To address the rapid growing demand for data services in mobile networks, it is necessary to develop efficient content caching and distribution techniques, aiming at significantly reduction of redundant content transmission and thus improve content delivery efficiency. In this article, we develop optimal cooperative content cache and distribution policy, where a geographical cluster model is designed for content retrieval across the collaborative small cell base stations (SBSs) and replacement of cache framework. Furthermore, we divide the SBS storage space into two equal parts: the first is local, the other is global content cache. We propose an algorithm to minimize the content caching delay, transmission cost and backhaul bottleneck at the edge of networks. Simulation results indicates that the proposed neighbor SBSs cooperative caching scheme brings a substantial improvement regarding content availability and cache storage capacity at the edge of networks in comparison with the current conventional cache placement approaches.

  • In distributed file-systems, cooperative caching algorithm which owns the data cached at each node jointly is used to reduce an expense of disk access. Cooperative caching algorithm is the method that increases a cache hit-ratio and decrease a disk access as it holds the cache information of distributed systems in common and makes cache larger virtually. Recently, several cooperative caching algorithms decrease the message costs by using approximate information of the cache and increase the cache hit-ratio by using local and global cache fields dynamically. And they have an advantage that increases the whole field hit-ratio by sending a replaced block to the idel node on cache replacement in order to maintain the replaced block in the cache field. However the wrong approximate information deteriorates the performance, the concistency maintenance goes to great expense to exchange messeges and the cost that manages Age-information of each node to choose the idle node increases. In this thesis, we propose a cooperative cache algorithm that maintains correct cache information, minimizes the maintance cost for consistency and the management cost for cache Age-information. Also, we show the superiority of our algorithm through the performance evaluation.

  • In this paper, we suggest a cache mechanism to improve the speed fo query processing in distributed directory environment. For this, request and result and result about objects in remote site are store in the cache of local site. A cache mechanism developed through six phases; 1) Cached information which stored in distributed directory system is classified as application data, system data and meta data. 2) Cache system architecture is designed according to classified information. 3) Cache schema are designed for each cache information. 4) Least-TTL algorithms which use the weighted value of geograpical information and access frquency for replacements are developed for datacaches(application cache, system cache). 5) Operational algorithms are developed for meta data cache which has meta data tree. This tree is based on the information of past queries and improves the speed ofquery processing by reducing the scope of search space. 6) Finally, performance evaluations are performed by comparing with proposed cache mechanism and other mechanisms.

  • In this paper, we propose a cache algorithm based on user's context for enterprise/urban smallcell environments. The smallcell caching method is to store mobile users' data traffic at a storage which is equipped in smallcell base station and it has an effect of reducing core networks traffic volume. In our algorithm, contrary to existing smallcell cache algorithms, the cache storage is equipped in a edge server by using a concept of the Mobile Edge Computing. In order to reflect user's characteristics, the edge server classifies users into several groups based on user's context. Also the edge server changes the storage size and the cache replacement frequency of each group to improve the cache efficiency. As the result of performance evaluation, the proposed algorithm can improve the cache hit ratio by about 11% and cache efficiency by about 5.5% compared to the existing cache algorithm.
