Development of PCS and IMT-2000 Frequency Bands Antenna for Automobile using Loading Sleeve Monopole (슬리브 모노폴을 이용한 PCS 및 IMT-2000 주파수대역 차량용 안테나 개발)

  • We developed a loading sleeve for Automobile, which has the PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands. The electric characteristics of the designed sleeve monopole has SWR<1.311 and 3.0dBi in average gain for that frequency bands. In this study, the designed sleeve monopole was installed at a roof and trunk lid of vehicle. The characteristics of designed sleeve monopole was investigated by measuring SWR, input impedance and radiation pattern. The experimental results show that the efficiency of the sleeve monopole is superior th that of domestic and foreign commercial PCS antenna.

  • In this paper, a broadband sleeve monopole antenna using a loading coil in sleeve is proposed. The antenna of the proposed structure has the same of the single sleeve monopole antenna, except for using the coil instead of the inner conductor in sleeve. As a result, it is found that the bandwidth is 1.239~2.154 GHz(above 53.9%) for S$\sub$11/=-10dB(VSWR<2), and the antenna impedance is good for a communication system and feeder which the impedance has 50$\Omega$.

  • In this paper, we designed a loading sleeve monopole operating at PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands using the structure of the broadband loading sleeve monopole. The length of the designed antenna is lower than that of the helical antenna coupled with a whip used in commercial PCS handsets. The length and diameter of the designed antenna are 38 mm and 8 mm, respectively. The designed loading sleeve monopole is fabricated and investigated experimently. The VSWR is less than 1.5 in the PCS and IMT-2000 frequency bands(1750 MHz~2170 MHz) and gain is 3.5 dBi.

  • This paper summarizes the data of a monopole antenna with a sleeve structure that can be applied in various ways. Sleeve monopole antennas have broadband characteristics and are used for multi-frequency applications. The sleeve monopole antenna is composed of a vertical conductor, which is a radiator, and a sleeve having the same structure as a coaxial cable. The sleeve acts as a radiator and an open stub. The length of the sleeve should be 1/3~2/3 of the total length of the antenna. A monopole antenna having a sleeve structure is applicable to a vehicle wiper antenna. In addition, the case of applying this antenna to a broadband sleeve antenna using a loading coil, a broadband printed sleeve monopole antenna for an ISM band, a gap sleeve and a double sleeve, and a UWB planar monopole antenna using half cutting was summarized and analyzed in terms of structure and broadband.

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a small size wide-band monopole antenna which can integrate the frequency of previous business mobile communication system by adding 4 PCS of post type parasitic element on top-loaded sleeve monopole antenna. We have observed the properties of return loss upon a parameter change of element, and we also examined radiation properties in the band of PCS, W-CDMA, WiBro, W-LAN and S-DMB in order to make sure the suggested antenna's wide-band properties. We have found that the proposed antenna has omni-direction in horizontal plane and figure eight-direction in vertical plane, and we could have good return loss($Return\;loss{\leq}-10\;dB$) and $1.14{\sim}3.66\;dBi$ gain in $1.67{\sim}3.55\;GHz$ of frequency range($B/W{\fallingdotsep}72%$).
