  • A variety of retrofit material such as CFRP, GFRP, and PolyUrea have been developed for strengthening RC structures and infrastructures. From previously reported research results, the capacity of strengthened concrete structures was dictated by the behavior of the interface between retrofit material and concrete. In this study, bond-shear test was carried out to estimate the bond behavior between retrofit material and concrete using a newly developed test grip. The test results of load and slip relation and energy absorption capacity of each retrofit material were obtained. These test results will provide basic information for retrofit material selection to achieve target retrofit performance.

  • The apparent activation energy Q$_{c}$ and the applied stress exponent n have been determined during creep of Al 7075 alloy over the temperature range of 90.deg. C to 320.deg. C (0.4-0.65T$_{m}$) and stress range of 1.85 kgf/mm$^{2}$ to 21 kgf/mm$^{2}$, respectively in order to investigate the creep behavior. Constant load creep tests were carried out in the experiment. At round the temperature of 200.deg. C-240.deg. C and under the stress level 8.13-9.55kgf/mm$^{2}$ and again at around the temperature of 280.deg. C-320.deg. C and under the stress level of 1.85-2.55kgf/mm$^{2}$, the creep behavior obeyed for the creep deformation was nearly equal to that of the volume self diffusion of pure aluminum (34kcal/mole). But at around the temperature of 90.deg. C and under the stress level of 10-21kgf/mm$^{2}$, the creep behavior did not obey a simple power-law relation and the apparent activation enrgy, Q$_{c}$ was 26.01 kcal/mole. From the above facts, at around the temperature of 200.deg. C-240.deg. C and 280.deg. C-320.deg. C, the creep deformation for Al 7075 alloy seemed to be controlled by dislocation climb but at 90.deg. C, by cross slip over the range of experimental stress conditions.tions.

  • The ultimate behavior of high-tension bolted joints with various plate thickness and bolt size is investigated using nonlinear F.E. analysis and experimental study. The relation with sliding load, bolt deformation, and failure modes are presented based on plate thickness and bolt size. Three kinds of the bolt diameter(M20, M22, M24) and five types of the steel plates (l2mm, 16mm, 20mm, 30mm, 40mm) are considered for the ultimate behavior of the bolted joints. The numerical model, constructed by commercial F.E. program, ABAQUS, of ultimate behavior of bolted joints is introduced and verified by experimental results. The force-displacement and force-axial strain relations are measured and compared with the results by 3D finite element analysis.

  • This paper presents the results of full-scale uplift load tests performed on 24 passive anchors grouted to various lengths at Okchun and Changnyong site. Rock anchors were installed over a wide range of rock types and qualities with a fixed anchored depth of 1~6 m. The majority of installations used D51 mm high grade steel rebar to induce rock failure prior to rod failure. However, a few installations included the use of D32 mm rebar at relatively deeper anchored depth so as to induce rod failure. In many tests, rock failure was reached and the ultimate loads were recorded along with observations of the shape and extent of the failure surface. In addition to field tests, laboratory pullout tests were conducted to determine bond strength and bond stress-shear slip relation at the tendon/grout interface when a corrosion protection sheath is installed in the cement-based grout. The test results show that the ultimate tendon-grout bond strength is measured from 18~25% of unconfined compressive strength of grout. One of the important results from these tests is that the measured strains along the corrosion protection sheath were so small that practically the reduction of bond strength by the presence of sheath would be negligible.

  • The high-tension bolted joints are clamped by the axial force which approaches the yielding strength. The introduced axial force is transmitted to the connection members pass through washer. The transferred load in connections is balanced to the compressive stress of plates, axial force in bolts and the external loads. In this mechanism, the compressive stress and slip load we dominated by the effective stiffness of bolted joints and plates. In general the effective stiffness is specified to product to the effective area and elasticity modulus in connections. In this reason, the conic projection formular which is assumed that the axial force in bolts is distributed to the cone shape and that region is related to the elastic deformation mechanism in connections, was proposed. But it conclude what kind of formula is justified. Therefore in this paper, the fatigue tests are performed to the high tension bolted joints and inspected to the phase on the friction face. And using the FEM and numerical method, it is analyzed and approximated to the compressive stress distribution and its region. Moreover, it is estimated to the effective area and to the relation the friction area to the effective compressive distribution region.
