  • To investigate the characteristics of orifice as an expansion devices, the experimental apparatus was made and experiments are being peformed using R22 and R290. The main idea of this control method of refrigerant flow rate with coupled orifices is to control the ON/OFF state of T and Ball type orifice corresponding to the subdivided region of thermal load. When system requires minimum thermal load, both T and Ball type orifices are closed, but refrigerant can flow through small hole of T type orifice. In regular thermal load, when ball type orifice is closed, T type orifice is opened and mass flow rate increase more than OFF state of T type orifice, due to large diameter. In maximum thermal load, both T and Ball type orifices are open and the much refrigerant can flow. The flow characteristics on T type orifice and parallel-combined orifice are obtained in the subdivided region of thermal load.

  • Low frequency oscillation of inter-area system is important problem in power system areas because the operation conditions of power system depend on it. Generally, the analysis of the problem is used by small signal stability. Especially, the analysis results are affected by decision of load models. In this paper, the effect of the analysis results was studied according to load component characteristics. ZIP model, popular in large-scaled power system analysis, was used as the load model. Many cases were studied according to the combination of ZIP model in inter-area system.

  • The current representative temperature selection method with five cities cannot reflect the sufficient regional climate characteristics. In this paper, the new representative temperature selection method is proposed with the consideration of eight representative cities. The proposed method considered the recent trend of power sales, the climate characteristics and population distribution to improve the accuracy of short-term load forecasting. Case study results for the accuracy of short-term load forecasting are compared for the traditional temperature weights of five cities and the proposed temperature weights of eight cities. The simulation results show that the proposed method provides more accurate results than the traditional method.

  • This paper presents a database for extraction of area load characteristics. The database is constructed by the acquired load data, the items of transformer and customers in KEPCO. The acquired load data is acquired from sample distribution transformer that selected as a sample. Finally, we present the daily, weekly and monthly load characteristics of commercial and residential are extracted as using database.

  • A crank-slider mechanism is driven by the rotating disk with are crank-pin guide to be applied to the deep drawing and cold forging presses. Load characteristics for different presses are summarized to see the basics of deep drawing of sheet metal and forging in terms of load-stroke relationship. Several types of conventional deep drawing presses are also shown to be compared with the ratating disk-types press. Kinematic performances by thearc guide driving mechanism are anlayzed in terms of load capaicty, stroke, and slide velocity characteristics, and they are compared with those by conventional driving , e.g. Niagara-typepress and so on. Kinematically better performances is shown by arc guide drive than those by conventional ones. The new driving mechanism is also proven to be one of the best for mass production press in terms of short cycle time. Possible applications of the arc guide press to deep drawing and cold forging work are in terms of kinematics and load capacity.

  • Vibration characteristics of columns are influenced by their axial loads. Numerous methods have been developed to quantify axial load and deformation in individual columns based on their natural frequencies. However, these methods cannot be applied to columns in a structural framing system as the natural frequency is a global parameter of the entire framing system. This paper presents an innovative method to quantify axial deformations of columns in a structural framing system using its vibration characteristics, incorporating the influence of load tributary areas, boundary conditions and load migration among the columns.

  • For high voltage operation, a new type of piezoelectric transformer using radial vibration of disk, poled with the same direction was proposed. The piezoelectric ceramics was composed to PZT-PMN-PSN. The diameter and thickness of a disk type piezoelectric transformer were 45[mm]and 4[mm], respectively The surface ratio of driving electrode and generating electrode of the piezoelectric transformer was 2 : 1. The resonance characteristics of input admittance, step-up voltage ratio and power transmission efficiency of the piezoelectric transformer were measured by varying the load resistance(0.1∼70[kΩ]). As a result, both resonance frequency and step-up voltage ratio increased with increasing load resistance. The step-up voltage ratio was reached more than 60 times under no load resistance. The maximum efficiency of 97% at load resistance of 2kΩ was obtained.

  • On designing of hydrostatic bearing, load, quantity of oil, stiffness and friction load are considered as basic characteristics. For the analysis of these basic characteristics, pressure distribution by oil film is obtained. Speed of piston, clearance, leakage of oil, eccentricity, shape and roughness of bearing affect the results which are the analysis of basic characteristics of load, quantity of oil, stiffness and friction load. The relationship among those factors are required for optimum designing of hydrostatic bearing for machining tool. Reynold's Equation is calculated through finite element method. Load, leakage of quantity and pressure distribution as variation of length, land length ratio, eccentricity and axial velocity of bearing are investigated. Then optimum design variables are obtained.

  • Measurement techniques for in-duct acoustic source parameters can be classified into the direct method and the load method, according to whether it utilizes an extra external source or not. It is reported that the load methods yield the negative source resistance and the purpose of this paper is to clarify that the time-varying nature of the source is the main cause of this physically implausible result. For this purpose, the direct and load methods for measuring the source characteristics of a simplified fluid machine are simulated using the time domain numerical analysis. In the numerical simulations, the method of characteristics is employed and the source characteristics are calculated from the resultant data. It is shown that the load method results in negative source resistance for some frequencies, whereas the direct method yields positive values for all frequencies considered. It is found that the result of load method is quite sensitive to the change of cylinder pressure or valve profile in contrast to the direct method.
