The experimental treatment was electric stimulation on both thigh quadriceps muscles for 15 minutes per time, 3 times per week, for a total of 12 weeks. Measures were the S-F McGill Pain Questionnaire and Arthritis Impact Measurement Scale for chronic knee pain, activities measurement of daily living for activities of daily living, and living satisfaction measurement for living satisfaction. Data was analyzed through the SPSS Win 12.0. Results: Chronic knee pain by S-F MPQ (t=43.563, p=.000) and chronic knee pain by AIMS (t=31.364, p=.000) were significantly decreased in the experimental group, and the activities of daily living (t=124.353, p=.000) and living satisfaction (t=71.268, p=.000) were significantly increased in the experimental group for Korean elderly women. Conclusion: Muscle electrical stimulation decreased chronic knee pain, and increased the activities of daily living and living satisfaction for Korean elderly women. Further studies for muscle electric stimulation need to be done.

Problems of housing, healthcare, social exchanges, and lonely feelings of vulnerable social groups such as the elderly living alone in rural and fishing villages should be resolved by guaranteeing minimum residential rights and levels to restore the sense of self-esteem and social stability and to maintain the rural communities and these should be the object of social interest and support. The housing problems of rural and fishing villages should be resolved not through supply to meet demand but by beginning with providing the ways to attain mutual interaction through the program that recognizes housing as merit goods to maintain the regional communities This research examines more minutely the problems caused by poor housing conditions of rural and fishing villages and attempts to present rural and fishing village type community living home as an alternative through regeneration. The results of this research are as follows. First, the administrative support system should be built to support the community living home in its beginning, process, completion, and even post management. Second, education for reinforcing capabilities to help understand the community living home should continually conducted on the occupants, villagers, and related organizations. Third, in order to expand the community living home, research and development should be made so that the zero-energy house, the alternative energy utilizing house, etc. can be widely used. In building community living home for vulnerable social groups in rural and fishing villages, practical alternatives suitable to the regional realities should be presented and practiced so that the community living home can be built to the satisfaction of all the villagers and the occupants, and the improvement measures should be presented through constant interest and monitoring.
The purpose of this study is to suggest improvement measures focusing on traffic accidents in apartment complexes that occur to children among life safety accidents. Roads in most apartment complexes are not "roads" under the Road Traffic Act. In addition, there is no mandatory punishment or regulations, so the perception of the danger of traffic accidents in apartment complexes is very low. Recent, traffic in automobiles and motorcycles is increasing in the apartment complex, and traffic accidents are frequently occurring due to low safety awareness for both drivers and pedestrians. Accordingly, this study attempted to identify cases of traffic accidents in children's apartment complexes and to present problems and improvement measures for accidents. Problems of traffic accidents through child traffic accidents The current affairs are meaningful in that they are aware of dangers to children, carers, and drivers, and suggest traffic safety measures in apartment complexes.
To ameliorate a long-standing, persistent housing shortage in Korea, large-scale massive housing production has been an imperative, and the extensive growth highly values development and consumption. The state's priority for the quantitative growth of housing stock has proved to be successful, but the state faces with economic and environmental crises in a global era. To achieve the qualitative growth, the previous administration pronounced a green growth policy from the inception, and a series of strategic measures under a holistic plan have been taken widely and vigorously. As part of the strategies, the green home project was undertaken, and simultaneously the movement of green living led by the governance has been activated. However, little attention to the grassroots effort was paid and the efficacy hasn't been adequately addressed. This study examines the factors affecting green living of residents in multifamily housing. Based on public guidelines to green living, 106 specific items were drawn out and largely categorized into 6 areas (water, waste, transportation, air quality, consumption, and energy), and the questionnaire was constructed using them. Of 750 survey forms mailed out, 161 responses were returned and the collected data were used for statistical analysis. The findings indicated that varying degrees of green living was well practiced, the state-led green home project was relatively well recognized, and the green growth policy was strongly supported. Also the respondents' attitude toward green living were more associated with demographic variables than housing characteristics, and familiarity with green home project was related to attitudes toward green living. Since the on-going approach to green living has focused on simple and economical ways, it has proved to be effective but progressive strategies to make living greener are necessarily developed.

The purpose of this study is to suggest complementary measures to the statute legalizing the expansion of living space to balcony, by means of survey on the recognition and preference of preliminary applicants for new apartments. The survey was done on 130 preliminary applicants who visited 3 model houses opened in Cheongju in June to July, 2006. Conclusions are as follows. (1) Most of preliminary applicants knew that the expansion of living space to balcony were legalized, but were not quite aware of legal details, so that more active publicity is needed by the government. In addition, if the government has a plan to impose tax to expanded space, it has to make clear the definition of the balcony space. (2) Preliminary applicants wanted space expansion of living room, main bed room and children's bed room in order, which implies that constructors have to suggest variety of expansion plans overpassing simple space expansion. (3) Preliminary applicants attached importance on the safety of expanded space. The management office is recommended to have the right to superintend its safety after construction.

Purpose: The effects of aroma massage on pain, activities of daily living, and fatigue were investigated in the patients who have knee osteoarthritis. Method: A quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest measures was used. Twenty one and twenty subjects were included in control and experimental group, respectively. Subjects in experimental group had aroma massage which used lavender, chamomile, and ginger oil on painful knee. They were encouraged to implement aroma massage at least two times a day for 2 weeks. Subjects in the control group had conventional oil massage implementing by exactly same method as did in the experimental group. GRS(graphic rating scale), Korean version of WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster) osteoarthritis index, and MAF(multidimensional assessment of fatigue) were used to measure the outcome variables such as pain, activities of daily living and fatigue, respectively. Results: After 2 weeks, those in the experimental group reported significantly less pain and fatigue and better activities of daily living than those in the control group.
