  • Advances of the computer system and the high-speed network have made it possible to popularize the multimedia services among various applications in the internet. In addition, the number of the users and the kinds of multimedia services have been increasing day by day. Thus, this paper presents an internet live-broadcasting server system to accelerate these trends. The developed system facilitates creating or joining the broadcasting with just such basic components as PC camera and sound card. Also, it guarantees the scalability that the channels could be dynamically expanded as the population of users rapidly increases. The clustered streaming servers are generically managed by the CSM ...

  • In this paper, for developing and implementing the HLS(Http Live Streaming) transmitter based embedded linux which is operated easily and cheap and lower power, portable in all networks and client environments compared to exist video live streaming transmitters. We design the developed HLS transmitter hardware using the Arm11 core and then porting the Embedded Linux OS(Operating System) and implementing the HLS protocol using the open source FFmpeg and Segmenter. For proving the performance of developed HLS transmitter, we make the testing environment for testing the performance of HLS transmitter including the notebook, iPhone, android Phone, Notebook and then analysis the received video in the client displayer. In this paper, we suggest the developed HLS transmitter performance data values higher than the Apple company's HLS recommended specification values and the picture of developed HLS transmitter operation in the testing environment. The application field of this paper result is that the man who works in the emergency situation take HLS and transmit the live emergency situation to the head quarter using this portable HLS.

  • Nowadays, economical and social environments are changing to the type of an advanced country for development of techniques in power industry. So most of workers are recently avoiding the 3D works and asking for safety of working environment, etc. in highly dangerous parts such as hot line working on distribution lines, especially. Therefore, most advanced countries are using the support-arm or robotic systems on distribution line works for securing the construction reliability, economical feasibility and protection of linemen from the electric shock and so forth. In special Japanese electric power companies are using the robotic system named manipulator. In Korea, a support-arm has been developed for safety and facility in live working on distribution lines but not widely supplied. In this paper we will introduce development cases of support arm and manipulator robot for live working on distribution lines.

  • We have developed the method for the conjugation of biotinylated DNA to streptavidin-coated QDs. QD-DNA conjugates and a high-sensitive fluorescence imaging technique are adopted to visualize gene transport across the membrane of the live cell in real time. Endocytotic cellular uptake of oligonucleotide and electrically-mediated plasmid DNA transfer into the live cell are monitored by a quantitative microscopic imaging system. Long-term kinetic study enables us to reveal the unknown mechanisms and rate-limiting steps of extracellular and intracellular transport of biomolecules. We designed experimental protocols to conjugate the oligonucleotide or the plasmid DNA to commercially available streptavidin-coated QDs. Gel electrophoresis is used to verify the effect of incubation time and the molar ratio of QDs and DNA on the conjugation efficiency. It is possible to fractionate the QD-DNA conjugates according to the DNA concentration and obtain the purified conjugates by a gel extraction technique.

  • Nowadays, consumption of fisheries products is increasing. There are several factors, one of which is a quantitative development through aquaculture. Another factor is an increase qualitative consumption of fish which require that fish be supplied alive. This requires a lot of technical effort to transport the live fish that have low survival rate (c.f. tuna and mackerel) in coastal waters and in the open sea. To develop a towing cage for transporting the live fish, model test in a circulate water channel and simulation by computer tool were carried out. In order to spread vertically, floats were attached at the upper part of the cage, and iron chains attached at the lower part of the cage. For horizontal spreading, kites were attached on the cage. The tension and spreading performance of the cage were measured. The result shows that the tension and reduction ratio of inside volume of the cage were tended to increase with increased towing speeds. The suitable operation condition in towing cage was 1.0 m/s towing speeds with vertical spreading force 8.7 kN, horizontal spreading force 5.6 kN; in this case the reduction ratio of inside volume of the cage was estimated as 25%.

  • OPGW(Optical Ground Wire) whose demand is increasing worldwide have composite function as optical communication and grounding for preventing transmission line from lightning. While continuous efforts have been made to increase the transmission capacity and speed, the working method to replace the existing ground wire with OPGW under live-line condition is coming to force newly as installation aspects. Particularly, this requirement became more serious in developing country that the electric power supply is not sufficient and power outage is impossible for supply and dead of electric power LS cable Ltd. has developed the new installation method in full live-line condition to solve the confronted problem and to meet the market demand. In this paper, Electric Problems in live-line installation is considered to predict dry-band arcing. This can be used by Makers to predict dry-band arcing in insulating ropes installed on earth wire of power transmission system.

  • The Land Transport Authority of Singapore has a continuing program of highway bridge upgrading, to refurbish and strengthen bridges to allow for increasing vehicle traffic and increasing axle loads. One subject of this program has been a short span bridge taking a busy highway across a coastal inlet near a major port facility. Experiment-based structural assessments of the bridge were conducted before and after upgrading works including strengthening. Each assessment exercise comprised two separate components; a strain and acceleration monitoring exercise lasting approximately one month, and a full-scale dynamic test carried out in a single day. This paper reports the application of extreme value statistics to estimate bridge live loads using strain measurements.

  • Petri Nets are a system description and analysis tool. Reachability is one of the most basic properties in Petri Net research. In a sense, reachability research is the foundation study for other dynamic properties of Petri Nets through which many problems involving Petri Nets can be described. Nowadays, there are two mature analysis methods-the matrix equation and the reachability tree. However, both methods are localized, i.e., it is difficult to find a general algorithm that can determine reachability for an arbitrary Petri Net, especially an unbounded Petri Net. This paper proposes and proves three propositions in order to present a subclass of a Petri Net, the live single-branch Petri Net, whose reachability is equivalent to the satisfiability of the state equation.

  • In this paper, we propose a P4P based P2P system for live multimedia streaming services. In order to satisfy the strict requirement of delay in live multimedia streaming, in the proposed scheme, the P4P server of network provider provides the network status information related to delay and congestion links to P2P system in addition to the information to optimize the network resource utilization. The P2P system server, then, makes the peering suggestion based on the information from the network server. Also, we propose a playback synchronization mechanism that enable each peer to start the playback within the limited variation from the playback positions of source peer. Through the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed scheme not only deals with the original objective of the P4P framework, i.e., effective network utilization, but also the live multimedia streaming requirements. It enhances the playback continuity, and reduces the playback start-up latency and the control overhead. In addition, the proposed scheme reduces the variation in playback positions of the peers.
