Aluminum-doped Zinc Oxide (AZO) is considered as an excellent candidate to replace Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), which is widely used as transparent conductive oxide (TCO) for electronic devices such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic solar cells (OSCs). In the present study, AZO thin film was applied to the transparent electrode of a channel-shaped flexible organic solar cell using a low-temperature selective-area atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. AZO thin films were deposited on Poly-Ethylene-Naphthalate (PEN) substrates with Di-Ethyl-Zinc (DEZ) and Tri-Methyl-Aluminum (TMA) as precursors and $H_2O$ as an oxidant for the atomic layer deposition at the deposition temperature of $130^{\circ}C$. The pulse time of TMA, DEZ and $H_2O$, and purge time were 0.1 second and 20 second, respectively. The electrical and optical properties of the AZO films were characterized as a function of film thickness. The 300 nm-thick AZO film grown on a PEN substrate exhibited sheet resistance of $87{\Omega}$/square and optical transmittance of 84.3% at a wavelength between 400 and 800 nm.
In superconducting power devices including power cables in which high temperature superconducting (HTS) tapes are utilized, a reliable electrical insulation should be achieved for its maximum performance. For an efficient design of HTS superconducting devices, a comparative evaluation of the mechanical and thermal propperties for various insulation materials at cryogenic temperatures is required. Especially, in the process of the property evaluation of the sheet-shaped insulation materials, anisotropy according to the machining direction should be considered because the mechanical and thermal properties are significantly influenced by the sample orientation. In this study, the cryogenic thermal and mechanical properties of various insulation material sheets such as PPLP, Cryoflex, Teflon, and Kapton were determined considering sample orientation. All samples tested at cryogenic temperature showed significantly higher tensile strength as compared with that of room temperature. The ultimate tensile strength at both temperature conditions significantly depended upon the sample orientation. The thermal properties of the insulation materials exhibited a slight difference among samples depending on the orientation: for the PPLP and Cryoflex, the CD orientation showed larger thermal contraction up to 77 K as compared to the MD one. MD samples in PPLP and Cryoflex showed a lower CTE and thermal contraction which made it more promising as an insulation material due to its comparable CTE with HTS CC tapes.

The high temperature superconductor transformers gain interests from the industries. This paper described construction and test results of 10㎸A HTS transformer Three phase transformer with double pancake windings were constructed. To reduce the leakage magnetic field, secondary coil were placed between the two primary coils. BSCCO-2223 wire. silicon sheet steel core and FRP cryostats were used to construct the transformer. Three coils were stacked in one cryostat. Two double pancake coils were connected in series for the primary coil and one double pancake coil was used for the secondary coil. Total number of turns of the primary winding and the secondary winding were 112turns and 98urns, respectively, The rated voltages of each winding were 440/220V. The rated currents of each winding were 13.1/26.2A. After the tests of basic properties of the three phase HTS transformer using no-load test, short-circuit test and full-load test, continuous operation of 100 hours with pure resistive load has been carried out. Test results proved over-load capability and reliability of the HTS transformer.
The carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were synthesized through the catalytic decomposition of hydrocarbons in a quartz tube reactor. The CNFs prepared from $C_3H_8$ at $550^{\circ}C$ was selected as the purification sample due to the higher content of impurity than that prepared from other conditions. In this study, we carried out the purification of CNFs by oxidation in air or carbon dioxide after acid treatment, and investigated the influence of purification parameters such as kind of acid, concentration, oxidation time, and oxidation temperature on the structure of CNFs. The metal catalysts could be easily eliminated from the prepared CNFs by liquid phase purification with various acids and it was verified by ICP analysis, in which, for example, Ni content decreased from 2.51% to 0.18% with 8% nitric acid. However, the particulate carbon and heterogeneous fibers were not removed from the prepared CNFs by thermal oxidation in air and carbon dioxide. This result can be explained by that the direction of graphene sheet in CNFs is vertical to the fiber axis and the CNFs are oxidized at about the similar rate with the impurity carbon.
This study presents the flow visualization results, velocity and turbulence intensity measurements made within an air filter cover and entry region of a mass air flow sensor (MAFS) which is used in an induction system of 3.8L engine. Flow structure in two air filter cover assemblies were examined. The first was a clear plastic replica of the production cover while the second was a modified clear plastic cover with a geometry configured to reduce fluctuations. High speed flow visualization and laser doppler velocimetry (LDV) systems were used to reveal and analyze the flow field characteristics encountered in the sensor design process under steady flow conditions. A 40-watt copper vapor laser was used as a light source. Its beam is focused down to a sheet of light approximately 1.5mm thick. The light scattered off the particles was recorded by a 16mm high speed rotating prism camera at 5000 frames per second. A comparison of the flow patterns and LDV measurements in the original and modified air filter covers is presented to illustrate the controlling effect of the cover design on the turbulence structure formation near the bypass and on the sensor output signal. In both axial and radial planes of the main passage it was found that the turbulence flow pattern is remarkably influenced by the air filter cover and main passage configuration.
Cop protein has been overexpressed in Escherichia coli using a T7 RNA polymerase system. Purification to apparent homogeneity was achieved by the sequential chromatography on ion exchange, affinity chromatography, and reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography system. The molecular weight of the purified Cop was estimated as 6.1 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). But the molecular mass of the native state Cop was shown to be 19 kDa by an analytical high performance size exclusion chromatography, suggesting a trimer-like structure in 50 mM Tris-HCI buffer (pH 7.5) containing 100 mM NaCl. Cop protein Was calculated to contain $39.1% {\alpha}-helix, 16.8% {\beta}-sheet$, 17.4% turn, and 26.8% random structure. The DNA binding property of Cop protein expressed in E. coli Was preserved during the expression and purification process. The isoelectric point of Cop was determined to be 9.0. The results of amino acid composition analysis and N-terminal amino acid sequencing of Cop showed that it has the same amino acid composition and N-terminal amino acid sequence as those deduced from its DNA sequence analysis, except for the partial removal of N-terminal methionine residue by methionyl-aminopeptidase in E. coli.
The concentration of fresh gel from Aloe vera L. by using ulfrafiltration (UF) process was investigated and analyzed. The two membranes (organic and ceramic) with different molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) and modules (flat sheet and tubular) was used. Under optimum operation conditions, ceramic (zirconium dioxide) tubular membrane with MWCO of 50 kDa resulted in higher flux, less fouling, more turbid, higher total solid, higher polysaccharide and less aloin content. Optimum operation conditions were transmembrane pressure of 1.0 bar, feed velocity of 240 L/hr and temperature of $23^{\circ}C$. Volume concentration factor of aloe gel was 3.13 at permeate flux of $51.1\;L/m^2{\cdot}hr$ after processing time of 1.66 hr. Aloin in fresh aloe gel by UF process was effectively removed as permeate and bioactive polysaccharide content was 2.1 times higher than that of fresh aloe gel. These results allowed a very good level of concentration degree and polysaccharide content. Thus, ultrafiltration process of this study was suitable for the concentration of fresh aloe gel though the aloe concentrate showed both the viscosity decrease and partially separation of liquid layer during storage at $4^{\circ}C$.
The objective of this work is to analyze the atomization and evaporation characteristics of dimethyl ether(DME) fuel for the application of HCCI diesel engine. In order to investigate the spray behavior of DME fuel, the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics were investigated in terms of spray development, spray tip penetration, impingement time, SMD, and axial mean velocity under the various injection timing and ambient conditions. For the illumination of spray, the spray visualization system was composed of a Nd:YAG laser and an ICCD camera and laser-sheet method was used. The atomization characteristics of DME fuel are analyzed by using phase Doppler particle analyzer (PDPA) system It was reveal that the spray development of DME is slower and rapidly disappeared as elapsed time after start of injection at the same injection duration. The impingement timing of diesel fuel was fester than that of DME fuel. The comparison of spray atomization characteristics in both fuels shows that diesel fuel has a large SMD value that DME.
Melt-quenching of steels leads to various metallographic effects such as refinement of grain size, extension of the solid solubility of carbon and alloying elements, and is expected to improve the mechanical properties of conventional steels. Furthermore, this technique is a useful method for producing sheet directly from liquid state. And it will lend itself to development as a continuous cast process which offers significant savings in energy and product costs. The purpose of this study is to present the microstructures of melt-quenched austenitic stainless steels. As the results of this study, the morphology of melt-quenched microstructure show that the roll contact area is columnar structure, and the free surface area is dendrite structure. As the line speed increases, the ratio of $d_{colunnar}/d_{total}$ increases from 0.12 to 0.60, but the ribbon thickness decreases from $150{\mu}m$ to $30{\mu}m$.
A particle flow visualization, electrostatic charging measurement and separation of triboelectrically charged particles in the external electric field by a fluidized bed tribocharger are conducted for the removal of PVC particles from mixed waste plastics. The laboratory-scale triboelectrostatic separation system consists of the fluidized bed tribocharger, a separation chamber, a collection chamber and a controller. PVC and PET particles can be imparted negative and positive surface charges respectively due to the difference of triboelectric charging series between particles and particles in the fluidized bed tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. To visualize these charged particles, He-Ne laser is used with cylindrical lenses to generate a sheet beam. In the charging measurement, the particle motion analysis system (PMAS), capable of determining particle velocity and diameter. is used to non-intrusively measure particle behavior in high strength electric field. The average charge-to-mass ratios of PVC and PET particles are $1.4\;and\;1.2{\mu}C/kg$, respectively. The highly concentrated PVC (91.9%) can be recovered with a yield of about 96.1% from the mixture of PVC and PET materials for a single-stage processing. The triboelectrostatic separation system using the fluidized tribocharger shows the potential to be an effective method for removing PVC from mixed plastics for waste plastic recycling.
