The objective of this work was to study the properties of purification of two liquid phase for exclusion of impurities in each phase. The experiments for process variables were carried out in the temperature range($H_{2}SO_{4}$ phase: $413{\sim}513$ K, $HI_{x}$ phase: $353{\sim}453$ K) and in the $N_{2}$ flow rate range($H_{2}SO_{4}$, $HI_{x}$ phase: $50{\sim}200$ mL/min). As the results, it is appeared that the principles of $H_{2}SO_{4}$ phase purification was due to stripping, evaporation and reverse bunsen reaction and $HI_{x}$ phase purification was due to stripping and reverse bunsen reaction. In purification of $H_{2}SO_{4}$ phase, the concentration rate of $H_{2}SO_{4}$ phase was controled by temperature but the temperature had few effects on yield of $H_{2}SO_{4}$. In purification of $HI_{x}$ phase, we observed products of side reactions($H_{2}S$, S) over 433 K. The purity of $HI_{x}$ phase was increased with increasing $N_{2}$ flow rate because impurites were decreased with increasing conversion of reverse reaction.
Unfunctionalized biaryl compounds were parallelly and combinatorially prepared by the traceless hydrogenolysis of biarylsulfonates supported on pentaerythritol. The hydrogenolysis using 2-propylmagnesium chloride in the presence of $dppfNiCl_2$ efficiently generated corresponding biaryl derivatives without any memory of the support. The strategy using pentaerythritol as a small soluble support was disclosed to have a potential to combine the benefits of both SPOS and solution-phase reaction with fast reaction rate, facile isolation of intermediates, easy analysis of intermediates and atom economical manner. The novel tetrapodal support is expected to be an efficient substitute for polymeric supports in many circumstances.
Spherical phospholipid-bilayers, vesicles, were prepared using the layer-by-layer double emulsion technique, which allows the bilayer to be formed asymmetrically. On the outer layer of the vesicles, the phospholipase D (PLD) reacted to convert phosphatidylcholine (PC) to phosphatidic acid (PA). The reaction induced the curvature change of the vesicles, which eventually led to rupture. The response time from the time of PLD injection to the time of rupture was measured against different vesicle curvatures and the outer layer phase, using the fluorescence intensity change of a pH-sensitive dye encapsulated within the vesicles. The effect of the vesicle curvature on the response was observed to be more significantly dramatic at the solid phase, compared to the liquid phase. Furthermore, in the solid phase, the response time was faster for 80 and 155 nm vesicles and, slower for 605 nm vesicles than similarly sized vesicles in the liquid phase vesicles. This difference in the response time was thought to result from the configuration determined by the phase difference and the PLD behavior.
I consider the structure of steady wave system which is admitted by the continuum equations for materials that undergo phase transformations with exothermic chemical reaction. In particular, the dynamic phase front structures between liquid and gas phases, and solid and liquid phases are computationally investigated. Based on the one-dimensional continuum shock structure analysis, the present approach can estimate the nano-width of waves that are present in combustion. For illustration purpose, n-heptane is used in the evaporation and condensation analysis and HMX is used in the melting and freezing analysis of energetic materials of interest. On-going effort includes extension of this idea to include broad range of liquid and solid fuels, such as rocket propellants.
The purpose of this study is to develop the processing techniques of Fiber Reinforced Metal by Liquid Phase Diffusion Bonding method with SiC fiber as a reinforcing material and CP Ti(Commercial Pure) as a matrix. The microstructure and the distribution of elements in reaction and CP Ti(Commercial Pure) as a matrix. The microstructure and the distribution of elements is reaction zone among CP Ti/Ti-15wt%Cu-20wt%Ni(TCN20)/SiC long fiber were investigated by Optical Microscope, SEM/EDX, EPMA, X-ray and AES. The results obtained in this study are as follows. 1) When Ti matrix composite materials are fabricated under the bonding condition of 1273Kx1200sec, the SiC long fiber was the most suitable reinforcing material for Ti matrix composite materials. 2) With SiC long fiber under same condition, a TiC layer(1.0-1.6$\mu\textrm{m}$) was observed on the surface of SiC long fiber. 3) Liquid Phase Diffusion Bonding has shown the feasibility of production of Ti matrix composite materials.
