An increase in oil and gas plants caused by development of process industry have brought into the increase in use of flammable and toxic materials in the complex process under high temperature and pressure. There is always possibility of fire and explosion of dangerous chemicals, which exist as raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods whether used or stored in the industrial plants. Since there is the need of efforts on disaster damage reduction or mitigation process, we have been conducting a research to relate explosion model on the background of real 3D terrain model. By predicting the extent of damage caused by recent disasters, we will be able to improve efficiency of recovery and, sure, to take preventive measure and emergency counterplan in response to unprepared disaster. For disaster damage prediction, it is general to conduct quantitative risk assessment, using engineering model for environmentaldescription of the target area. There are different engineering models, according to type of disaster, to be used for industry disaster such as UVCE (Unconfined Vapor Cloud Explosion), BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Evaporation Vapor Explosion), Fireball and so on, among them.we estimate explosion damage through UVCE model which is used in the event of explosion of high frequency and severe damage. When flammable gas in a tank is released to the air, firing it brings about explosion, then we can assess the effect of explosion. As 3D terrain information data is utilized to predict and estimate the extent of damage for each human and material. 3D terrain data with synthetic environment (SEDRIS) gives us more accurate damage prediction for industrial disaster and this research will show appropriate prediction results.

At the LPG vehicle air intake system, most of dust particles in the air cleaner are removed. However very small particles are not removed and accumulated. The accumulation of carbon in air intake system is going to affect the idle speed control and sensor signal. It also causes engine chattering and transmission troubles of automatic transmission. This is study about cleaning up intake system using cleaning chemical. We can clean up the intake system by spraying cleaning liquid onto intake device when the engine is idling after intake hose is removed from warmed up vehicle. We can obtain the following experimental results by cleaning up ISC, surge tank, intake manifold, intake valves and combustion chamber. According to this results, the stroll valve works correctly and power rate of engine is up to the standard, it is smoothy to control the idling speed when a vehicle pulls up. After cleaning up CO grow down about 0.15%, HC does about 20~100 ppm.

Solid materials of ammonia sources with SCR have been considered for the application of lean NOx reduction in automobile industry, to overcome complex problems of liquid urea based SCR. These solid materials produce ammonia gas directly with proper heating and can be packaged by compact size, because of high volumetric ammonia density. Among ammonium salts and metal ammine chlorides, calcium ammine chloride was focused on this paper due to low decomposition temperature. In order to make calcium ammine chloride in lab-scale, simple reactor and glove box was designed and built with ammonium gas tank, regulator, and sensors. Basic test conditions of charging ammonia gas to anhydrous calcium chloride are chosen from equilibrium vapor pressure by Van't Hoff plot based on thermodynamic properties of materials. Synthetic method of calcium ammine chloride were studied for different durations, temperatures, and pressures with proper ammonia gas charged, as a respect of ammonia gas adsorption rate(%) from simple weight calculations which were confirmed by IC. Also, lab-made calcium ammine chloride were analyzed by TGA and DSC to clarify decomposition step in the equations of chemical reaction. To understand material characteristics for lab-made calcium ammine chloride, DA, XRD and FT-IR analysis were performed with published data of literature. From analytical results, water content in lab-made calcium ammine chloride can be discovered and new test procedures of water removal were proposed.

Hydrogen is one of the energy carriers and has high energy efficiency relative to mass. It is an eco-friendly fuel that makes only water (H2O) as a by-product after use. In order to use hydrogen conveniently and safely, development of production, storage and transfer technologies is required and attempts are being made to apply hydrogen as an energy source in various fields through the development of the technology. For transporting and storing hydrogen include high-pressure hydrogen gas storage, a type of storage technologies consist of cryogenic hydrogen liquid storage, hydrogen storage alloy, chemical storage by adsorbents and high-pressure hydrogen storage containers have been developed in a total of four stages. The biggest issue in charging high-pressure hydrogen gas which is a combustible gas is safety and the backfire prevention device is that prevents external flames from entering the tank and prevents explosion and is essential to use hydrogen safely. This study conducted a numerical analysis to analyze the performance of suppressing flame propagation of 2, 3 inch flame arrestor. As a result, it is determined that, where the flame arrestor is attached, the temperature would be lowered below the temperature of spontaneous combustion of hydrogen to suppress flame propagation.
As the hydrofluoric acid leak in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do or hydrochloric acid leak in Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do demonstrated, chemical related accidents are mostly caused by large amounts of volatile toxic substances leaking due to the damages of storage tank or pipe lines of transporter. Safety assessment is the most important concern because such toxic material accidents cause human and material damages to the environment and atmosphere of the surrounding area. Therefore, in this study, a hydrofluoric acid leaked from a storage tank was selected as the study example to simulate the leaked substance diffusing into the atmosphere and result analysis was performed through the numerical Analysis and diffusion simulation of ALOHA(Areal Location of Hazardous Atmospheres). the results of a qualitative evaluation of HAZOP (Hazard Operability)was looked at to find that the flange leak, operation delay due to leakage of the valve and the hose, and toxic gas leak were danger factors. Possibility of fire from temperature, pressure and corrosion, nitrogen supply overpressure and toxic leak from internal corrosion of tank or pipe joints were also found to be high. ALOHA resulting effects were a little different depending on the input data of Dense Gas Model, however, the wind direction and speed, rather than atmospheric stability, played bigger role. Higher wind speed affected the diffusion of contaminant. In term of the diffusion concentration, both liquid and gas leaks resulted in almost the same $LC_{50}$ and ALOHA AEGL-3(Acute Exposure Guidline Level) values. Each scenarios showed almost identical results in ALOHA model. Therefore, a buffer distance of toxic gas can be determined by comparing the numerical analysis and the diffusion concentration to the IDLH(Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health). Such study will help perform the risk assessment of toxic leak more efficiently and be utilized in establishing community emergency response system properly.
The separation of nitrogen heterocyclic compound (NHC) contained in a model coal tar fraction of nine components system was investigated by distribution equilibrium. The model coal tar fraction comprising NHC group (NHCs; indole (In), quinoline (Q), iso-quinoline (iQ), quinaldine(Qu)), bicyclic aromatic compound group (BACs; 1-methylnaphthalene (1MN), 2-methylnaphthalene (2MN), dimethylnaphthalene (DMN)), biphenyl (Bp) and phenyl ether (Pe) and the aqueous methanol were used as the raw materials and the solvent of this work, respectively. A batch-stirred tank was used as the liquid-liquid contact unit of this work. The distribution coefficient of NHCs increased by increasing the equilibrium operation temperature, whereas the selectivity of NHCs with respect to BACs decreased. Decreasing the initial volume ratio of water to the solvent resulted in deteriorating the selectivity of NHCs in reference to BACs, but improving the distribution coefficients of NHCs. At a fixed experimental condition, the sequence of the distribution coefficient and the selectivity with reference to BACs for each groups was increased in order of NHCs > Bp > BACs > Pe and NHCs > Bp> Pe, respectively. Also, the sequence of the distribution coefficient for entire compounds was in order of In > iQ = Q > Qu > Bp > 1MN = 2MN > Pe > DMN. The maximum yield of NHCs and the selectivity of NHCs based on BACs obtained by methanol extraction were 94 and 23%, respectively. Furthermore, the recovery process for NHCs from coal tar was studied by using the experimental results from this work.

It is well known that volatile compounds including disinfection by-products as well as emissive dissolved gas in water can be removed effectively by air stripping. The micro-bubbles of flotation unit are so tiny as microns while the diameter of fine bubbles applied to air stripping is ranged from hundreds to thousands of micrometer. Therefore, the micro-bubbles in flotation can supply very wide specific surface area to transfer volatile matters through gas-liquid boundary. In addition, long emission time also can be gained to emit the volatile compound owing to the slow rise velocity of micro-bubbles in the flotation tank. There was a significant difference of the THMs species removal efficiency between air stripping and flotation experiments in this study. Moreover, the results of comparative experiments on the removal characteristics of THMs between air stripping and flotation revealed that the mass transfer coefficient, $K_La$ showed obvious differences. To overcome the limit of low removal efficiency of dissolved volatile compounds such as THMs in flotation process, the operation range of bubble volume concentration is required to higher than the operation condition of conventional particle separation.
This study was carried out to establish most suitable freezing condition, to evaluate the different condition of freezing and thawing rates on the viability and motility of frozen canine spermatozoa. The ejaculated semen was added to obtained 200∼400 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ /$m\ell$ with extender I and was cooled to 4$^{\circ}C$ over 30, 60 and 120 minutes. And then, semen was diluted with extender II containing 4, 6 and 8%(v/v) glycerol for 60 min, respectively and packaged in 0.5$m\ell$ straw, equilibrated far 30, 60 and 120 min at 4$^{\circ}C$ and cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen vapor at different distance(3, 5, 7 and 9 cm, respectively), plunged into nitrogen tank. Samples were thawed by placing straws into 27, 37, 47, 57$^{\circ}C$ water bath for 120, 20 and 12 sec, respectively. The results were as follows; 1. The survival and motility rate immediately post-thawing was significantly higher in samples frozen in 4% glycerol than 6 or 8% glycerol(P< 0.05). 2. According to equilibration time at 4$^{\circ}C$, the survival and motility rate immediately post-thawing was significantly higher in samples frozen after 60 min equilibration than 30 or 120 min equilibration(P<0.05). 3. Freezing in distance of 5 cm from liquid nitrogen yield better survival and motility rate than the others(3, 7 or 9 cm)(P<0.05). 4. The effect of thawing rate on sperm survival were higher when the thawing was done at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 120 sec(P<0.05).

Two mesophilic trickling bed bioreactors filled with two different types of media, hydrophilic- and hydrophobic-cubes, were designed and conducted for hydrogen production under the anaerobic fermentation of sucrose. Each bioreactor consisted of the column packed with polymeric cubes and inoculated with heat-treated sludge obtained from anaerobic digestion tank. A defined medium containing sucrose was fed by the different hydraulic retention time(HRT), and recycle rate. Hydrogen concentrations in gas-phase were constant, averaging 40% of biogas throughout the operation. Hydrogen production rate was increased till $10.5\;L{\cdot}h^{-1}{\cdot}L^{-1}$ of bioreactor when influent sucrose concentrations and recycle rates were varied. At the same time, the hydrogen production rate with hydrophobic media application was higher than its hydrophilic media application. No methane was detected when the reactor was under a normal operation. The major fermentation by-products in the liquid effluent of the both trickling biofilters were acetate, butyrate and lactate. In order to run in the long term operation of both reactor filled with hydrophilic and hydrophobic media, biofilm accumulation on hydrophilic media and biogas produced should be controlled through some process such as periodical backwashing or gas-purging. Four sample were collected from each reactor on the opposite hydrogen production rate, and their bacterial communities were compared by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) analysis of PCR products generated using bacterial 16s rRNA gene primers (8f and 926r). It was expressed a marked difference in bacterial communities of both reactors. The trickling bed bioreactor with hydrophobic media demonstrates the feasibility of the process to produce hydrogen gas. A likely application of this reactor technology can be hydrogen gas recovery from pre-treatment of high carbohydrate-containing wastewaters.
