항공용 가스터빈 연소기에서의 혼합기 노즐 형상의 단순화가 음향장 해석 결과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Simplified Mixture Nozzle Geometry on the Acoustic Field in an Aero Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • A 3D FEM (Finite Element Method) based Helmholtz solver has been commonly used to characterize fundamental acoustic behavior and investigate dynamic instability features in many combustion systems. In this approach, a geometrical simplification of the target system has been generally made in order to reduce computational time and cost because a real combustor and fuel nozzle have a very complicated flow passage. The feasibility of these simplifications is quantitatively investigated in a small aero gas turbine nozzle in term of acoustic characteristics. It is found that the simplification in a nozzle geometry during the 3D FEM analysis process has no great influence on the acoustic modeling results, while the calculation complexity can be improved for a similar modeling accuracy.

A Study of Ice-Formation Phenomena on Freezing of Flowing Water in a Stenotic Tube

  • In this study, a numerical analysis is made on the ice-formation for laminar water flow inside a stenotic tube. The study takes into account the interaction between the laminar flow and the stenotic port in the circular tube. The purpose of the present numerical investigation is to assess the effect of a stenotic shape on the instantaneous shape of the flow passage during freezing upstream/downstream of the stenotic channel. In the solution strategy, the present study is substantially distinguished from the existing works in that the complete set of governing equations in both the solid and liquid regions are resolved. In a channel flow between parallel plates, the agreement between the of predictions and the available experimental data is very good. Numerical analyses are performed for parametric variations of the position and heights of stenotic shape and flow rate. The results show that the stenotic shape has the great effect on the thickness of the solidification layer inside the tube. As the height of a stenosis grows and the length of a stenosis decreases, the ice layer thickness near the stenotic port is thinner, due to backward flow caused by the sudden expansion of a water tunnel. It is found that the flow passage has a slight uniform taper up to the stenotic channel, at which a sudden expansion is observed. It is also shown that the ice layer becomes more fat in accordance with its Reynolds number.

  • 강제대류 천이비등 열유속을 보다 실제 적으로 예측하기 위한 역학적 모델을 개발하였다. 이 모델은 가열된 벽면 근처를 어떤 기포기둥(Vapor Blanket)이 통과할 때 일어나는 다단계 비등과정 즉, 임계 기포기둥의 형성, 기포기둥밑의 미소액막(Macrolayer)의 기화 및 고갈, 그리고 얇은 기체막에서 일어나는 불안정한 막비등과정에 기초하였다. 핵비등이탈점 (DNB )과 막비등이탈점 (DFB)사이의 천이비등 곡선상의 열유속은 임계 기포기둥이 주어진 벽면을 통과할 동안 상기한 각 비등과정의 지속 시간비(Time Fraction)를 각 비등열유속에 곱한 후 그것을 합하여 정량화하였다. 이 모델의 예측치를 현재까지 발표된 문헌들에 나타난 실험치와 비교한 결과, 본 모델은 저건도 및 10 bar 근처의 고압조건의 실험치를 잘예측하는 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of roughage quality, period of day and time lapse after meal termination on rumen digesta load in goats and sheep

  • Objective: This study ascertained effects of roughage quality, period of day at meal termination and time lapse after feeding on digesta load in the rumen. Methods: Veld hay was untreated (poor roughage quality, PRQ), improved (improved roughage quality, IRQ) by treating with urea or semi-improved by spraying with urea (semi-improved roughage quality, SIRQ). Experiment 1a used four rumen fistulated sheep to determine in-sacco degradability. Twelve sheep ($56.3{\pm}4.59kg$) were blocked by weight and randomly allocated to IRQ (n = 6) and PRQ (n = 6) to determine solid and liquid passage rates. In experiment 1b, nine sheep ($37.6{\pm}9.34kg$) were blocked by weight and randomly allocated to IRQ (n = 4) and PRQ (n = 5) to determine digestibility. Sixteen sheep ($36.47{\pm}9.46kg$) were blocked by body weight and randomly allocated to IRQ (n = 8) and PRQ (n = 8). Two sheep were slaughtered for each sampling time in each treatment (IRQ and PRQ) at 0, 6, 12, and 24 h after feeding to determine rumen load. In experiment 2, eighteen goats ($25.4{\pm}9.08kg$) were blocked by weight and randomly allocated to IRQ (n = 6), SIRQ (n = 6), and PRQ (n = 6). Then all 18 goats were slaughtered soon after meal termination in the morning; afternoon and evening to determine the effect of period of day on rumen fill. Results: Rate of degradation and effective degradability were enhanced by improvement of roughage quality. Roughage quality had no effect on digestibility, but digestibility was higher in goats than sheep. Fractional passage rate of particles was higher for IRQ than PRQ, but similar for liquids. Digesta fractional clearance rates at 24 h after feeding were 0.018/h (IRQ) and 0.006/h (PRQ). Period of day had an influence on rumen load. Neutral detergent fibre load for goats were above 2.03 kg/100 kg body weight for all diet treatments. Conclusion: Following starvation, passage rate had negligible effects on emptying of rumen load.

고수압 해저터널 건설을 위한 동결공법 적용성에 관한 연구 - 사례를 중심으로 - (Studies of application of artificial ground freezing for a subsea tunnel under high water pressure - focused on case histories -)

  • 본 연구는 고수압 해저터널의 차수를 위한 동결공법 적용성 평가를 위해 국내 적용사례가 없는 동결공법의 해외 시공사례를 조사하였으며, 지반 동결공법에서 보편적으로 사용하는 냉매인 브라인(brine)과 액체질소($LN_2$)에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 고수압 조건의 해수는 순수한 물에 비하여 어는 점이 더 낮기 때문에 지상에서보다 동결시간이 더 길 수 있고 해저터널과 같이 폐쇄된 공간에서의 적용 시 냉매는 안정성을 확보할 수 있어야 하고 공기 단축이 가능해야 한다. 브라인은 재사용이 가능하고 독성이 적어 인체에 미치는 영향이 적으나, 동결에 상대적으로 장시간 필요하고 동결장비가 복잡한 특징을 가지고 있으며, 액체질소는 냉매의 재사용이 불가하며 기화 시 공기 중 질소농도 증가로 질식의 위험성이 있으나, 상대적으로 동결시간이 짧으며, 동결장비가 간단한 특징을 가지고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 향후 추가적인 연구가 필요한 해저터널 연결구 및 막장면 주변 지반에 대한 동결공법의 주요 설계요소를 도출하였다.

반부숙상태 돈분뇨 액비의 저장기간 및 폭기여부에 따른 특성 변화 (Changes in Characteristics of Semi-cured Pig Manure Liquid Fertilizer according to the Storage Duration and Aeration)

  • 현재 국내 양돈농가에서 발생하는 돼지분뇨 성상은 수분함량이 97% 정도인 슬러리 형태가 대부분이다. 돈사에서 배출되는 돼지분뇨 슬러리는 돼지의 분뇨와 돈사 내부 청소 물 등이 혼합된 성상의 액상물질이다. 본 연구에서는 공기공급 여부와 저장기간의 경과에 따른 돼지분뇨 액비의 부숙정도와 성상변화를 분석하기 위하여, 국내에서 운용 중인 액비화시설의 후단 공정에서 채취한 돼지분뇨 슬러리를 재료로 하여 120일 동안 실험을 수행하였다. 밀폐형 회분식 반응조를 이용하여 실험을 수행한 결과, 돼지분뇨 슬러리 액비의 부숙도는 공기공급구가 비공급구에 비해 더 양호하였으며 액비 저장기간이 경과 함에 따라서 액비가 부숙완료 상태로 빨리 전환되는 경향이 있었다. 실험개시 시에 97.90% 수준이던 액비의 수분함량 평균값이 실험 완료 시에는 공기공급구의 경우 96.82%, 비 공급구는 97.33% 수준을 나타냄으로써 공기공급구에서의 수분함량 감소가 상대적으로 더 높았다. 실험개시시에 8.82 수준이었던 액비의 pH는 실험완료 시에 공기공급구에서는 7.57, 비 공급구에서는 8.75 수준으로 변화하였다. 액비 중의 질소함량은 실험개시 시에 평균 0.198 mg/L 수준이었으나 실험완료 시에는 공기공급구에서는 0.076 mg/L, 비 공급구에서는 0.121 mg/L 수준으로 낮아졌다. 액비 중의 인산(P2O5)농도는 저장기간의 경과에 따라 비폭기처리구가 폭기처리구에 비해 감소 정도가 상대적으로 더 높았다. 실험결과를 종합해볼 때 돼지분뇨 액비에 공기를 공급하는 경우 그리고 저장기간을 길게 하였을 때 액비품질이 개선되는 것으로 판단된다.

Development of Schizogenous and Lysigenous Aerenchyma in Rice Root

  • Aerenchyma development in rice (Oryza sativa L.) roots is quite important for adaptation to waterlogged or reduced soil conditions. Anatomical observations were carried out to clarify the development of schizogenous and lysigenous aerenchyma in elongating crown roots of rice. The crown roots of 3rd and 4th phytomer were taken from rice plants of the 8th leaf stage grown by hydroponic culture. The schizogenous intercellular spaces in the cortex of crown root tip were observed using a light microscope with semi ultra-thin sections and the lysigenous aerenchyma in mature tissue of crown root were observed using a cryo scanning electron microscope (cryo-SEM) with freezing fracture method. The schizogenous intercellular spaces in the root tip exist obviously in the middle portion of cortical cell layers close to the root-root cap junction, but not in root cap, stele and outer cell layers of cortex. The air spaces were formed at the junction of four neighbouring cells of inner cortex in the transverse sections, and between longitudinal cell layer connected along the root axis. Although many of those spaces were filled with liquid, some spaces seem to exist as air spaces. The lysigenous aerenchyma in the cortex, which hardly filled with liquid, emerged at 3-4 cm segment from the root tip and increased toward the basal region of root axis. The developing process of lysigenous aerenchyma was primarily separation of a radial row of cells caused by the shrinking and collapsing of cortical cells and then formation of septa along the radial cell rows by the fusion of cell wall with each other. These results suggest that the schizogenous and lysigenous aerenchyma playa role as a passage for the movement of oxygen into the root tip region where oxygen is required for respiration.

Numerical Investigation of Liquid Flows in Parallel Columns for Use in the Al or Mg Die-Casting

  • Following the recent trend in the automotive manufacturing technologies, the product design subject to the die casting becomes more and more complex. The requirement of the die design becomes more demanding than ever before. In some cases the product's shape can have multiple slender manifolds. In such cases, design of the inlet and outlet parts of the die is very important in the whole manufacturing process. The main issues required for the qualified products are to attain gentle and uniform flow of the molten liquid within the passages of the die. To satisfy such issues, the inlet cylinder ('bed cylinder' in this paper) must be as large as possible and simultaneously the outlet opening at the end of each passage must be as small as possible. However these in turn obviously bring additional manufacturing costs caused by re-melting of the bed cylinder and increased power due to the small outlet-openings. The purpose of this paper is to develop effective simulation methods of calculation for fluid flows in multiple columns, which mimic the actual complex design, and to get some useful information which can give some contributions to the die-casting industry. We have used a commercial code CFX in the numerical simulation. The primary parameter involved is the size of the air-vent. We will show how the very small opening of the outlet, i.e. the air-vent, can be treated with the aid of the porous model provided in the code. To check the validity of the numerical results we have also conducted a simple experiment by using water.

하이브리드/전기 자동차용 수냉식 배터리 셀의 냉각성능에 관한 수치 해석적 연구 (Numerical Investigation of Cooling Performance of Liquid-cooled Battery in Electric Vehicles)

  • 리튬 이온 배터리는 높은 에너지 밀도와 안정적인 충전/방전 특성을 내재하고 있어 하이드리드 및 전기자동차에 보편적으로 사용된다. 리튬 이온 배터리의 효율은 배터리 자체의 온도 특성에 직접적인 영향을 받으므로, 열을 효율적으로 냉각하는 기술이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 수냉식 배터리 냉각 시스템의 냉각 성능과 펌프 소모동력에 관한 전산유체해석을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 배터리 셀의 냉각수 유량 및 냉각 채널의 특성에 따른 냉각 성능을 수치적으로 예측하였다. 이를 바탕으로 250개 배터리 셀을 기준으로 유량 및 차압에 의한 소모동력을 계산하였다. 이러한 연구는 차세대 하이브리드 및 전기자동차의 시간에 따른 배터리의 온도 변화 및 충/방전 효율 최적화 기술에 적용할 수 있는 기초 연구로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

터빈 블레이드 표면과 선형익렬에서의 열전달 및 유동측정 연구 (Heat Transfer and Flow Measurements on the Turbine Blade Surface)

  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of the free stream turbulence intensity and Reynolds number on the heat transfer and flow characteristics In the linear turbine cascade. Profiles of the time-averaged velocity, turbulence intensity, and Reynolds stress were measured in the turbine cascade passage. The static pressure and heat transfer distributions on the blade suction and pressure surfaces were also measured. The experiments were made for the Reynolds number based on the chord length, Rec = $2.2{\times}10^4$ to $1.1{\times}10^5$ and the free stream turbulence intensity, $FSTI_1$ = 0.6% to 9.1 %. The uniform heat flux boundary condition on the blade surface was created using the gold film Intrex and the surface temperature was measured by liquid crystal, while hot wire probes were used for the flow measurements. The results show that the free stream turbulence promotes the boundary layer development and delays the flow separation point on the suction surface. It was found that the boundary layer flows on the suction surface for all Reynolds numbers tested with $FSTI_1$ = 0.6% are laminar. It was also found that the heat transfer coefficient on the blade surface increases as the free stream turbulence intensity increases and the flow separation point moves downstream with an increasing Reynolds number. The results of skin friction coefficients are in good agreement with the heat transfer results in that for $FSTI_1{\geq}2.6%$, the turbulent boundary layer separation occurs.
