IPMC(Ionic Polymer-Metal Composite) is promising candidate material for bio-related actuators mainly due to its biocompatibility and wet and soft properties. The widely used commercialized Nafion film has a few kinds of fixed thicknesses but more various film thicknesses are required for extensive applications. Especially for the enhanced force as an actuator, the thick film is essential. Various Nafion films with thickness of 0.4-1.2mm have been prepared by casting of liquid Nafion. Also, IPMC actuators using casted Nafion films have been fabricated and the basic mechanical properties such as stiffness, displacement and force were measured and analyzed. These results can be used for the optimized design of actuators for different applications.

Calix[4]crown-6-2,4-bis(4-aminobutyl ether), which has a crown-6 moiety at the 1,3-position and amino function at the 2,4-position, was prepared as an intermediate for the subsequent synthesis of calix[4]crown-6-containing polyamide and polyimide using adipoyl chloride and 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic dianhydride. The chemical structures were characterized by IR, $^{1}H NMR$ spectroscopy and elemental analysis, and some of their physical properties, including their thermal behavior, were examined. The ion binding characteristics of the monomer and polymers for alkali metal and alkali earth metal ions were measured by liquid-liquid extraction from the aqueous phase into the organic phase. It has been observed that polyamide has a high binding ability towards various metal cations as compared to polyimide, which showed cesium ion selectivity.

A new textile metal matrix composite fur electronic packaging was developed and characterized. The thermal management materials consist of a plain woven carbon fabric as reinforcement and pure aluminum as matrix. The finite element method has been utilized in the analysis of thermal stress between the constituent components of packaging. The prototype part was manufactured by the liquid pressurizing method. The composite has CTE values of 4 to $5{\times}10^{-6}\;^{\circ}C^{-1}$10 in the range of $25^{\circ}C$ ~ 175$^{\circ}C$, resulting in good agreement with electronic materials such as Si and GaAs.
In this study, we have manufactured the LHP(Loop Heat Pipe) with sintered metal wick and investigated the working characteristics of LHP experimentally.Water was used as a working fluid and fill charge rate was changed. LHP basically consist of the separated vapor/liquid channels, evaporator having sintered metal wick(effective pore diameter :$16{\sim}19{\mu}m$), and condenser cooled by water. The diameter of vapor/liquid line tube are 3.2mm/6.35mm, respectively. Heat transfer rate and thermal resistance was represented to study the basic characteristics of LHP at each conditions
The membrane-based CO2 capture is a fast-growing branch in gas separating field. Ionic liquid assisted mixed matrix membrane (MMM), which consists of organic fillers with dispersed ionic liquid, shows high potentiality as a candidate for CO2 separation medium. In MMM, various kinds of ionic liquid and inorganic filler are incorporated into polymer to enhance gas separating performance. Especially, the strong interaction between ionic liquid and organic filler gives huge influence on enhancing the separating performance by increasing affinity, selectivity and adsorption of CO2 into the framework. Also the mechanical properties of metal organic framework are positively tuned by input of ionic liquid to improve CO2 permeability and selectivity. In this review, study of various combinations of ionic liquid and metal organic framework (MOF) in the polymeric membrane for carbon dioxide separation is discussed.
In order to study the bonding mechanism of Ni/B/Ni transient liquid phase bonding system, width of liquid layers were calculated, where in this system melting point of insert material(B) is higher than bonding temperature and melting point of base metal(Ni). Caclulated values were compared with experimental ones which were measured by bonding Ni/B/Ni system at 1433-1474K under vacuum atmosphere. As results, the width of initial liquid layer of Ni/B/Ni system was calculated as $W_{IL}$ = $W_{o}$[1 + {2.100..rho.$_{S/}$ ( $X_{3}$ + $X_{4}$)..rho.$_{Ni}$ }-.rho.$_{S/}$.rho. Ni/], and it was nearly same with experimental values. Maximum width of liquid layer, width of liquid layer during isothermal solidification and isothermal solidification time were calculated also.o.o.o.

Concentrations of total particulate matter (TPM), $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ were measured at three different sites based on each different fuel type (solid, liquid and gas) used in thermal power plants operating in Yeosu and Gwangyang National Industrial Complexes during 2017. The highest concentrations of TPM, $PM_{10}$, and $PM_{2.5}$ were observed at the solid fuel facility, and these values were $3.356mg/Sm^3$, $2.342mg/Sm^3$ and $1.834mg/Sm^3$, respectively. The ratio of $PM_{2.5}$ to TPM was the highest value of 54.6% in solid fuel case, and the lowest was 35.7% found in liquid fuel case. As a result of analyzing 9 kinds of metal compound with respect to each particle size, the metal concentration of TPM is higher than those of $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ in all fuel types. Total concentrations of metal elements in TPM by fuel difference are $1.2702mg/Sm^3$ in solid fuel, 0.0603 mg/Sm3 in liquid fuel, and $0.0733mg/Sm^3$ in gas fuel, respectively. Relatively higher total metal concentration in gas fuel than in liquid fuel was found; and this could be higher Cr and Al concentrations in use of gas fuel. As a result of estimating the emission factors of each facility, in case of solid fuel, TPM emissions per electricity production were found to be 0.7080 kt/PJ, followed by liquid fuel and gas fuel. $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ emissions per hour of electricity production were similar to those of TPM.

As an approach for estimation of the droplet size in the molten salt-liquid metal extraction process, a droplet formation experiment at room temperature was conducted to evaluate the applicability of the Scheele-Meister model with water-mercury system as a surrogate that is similar to the molten salt-liquid metal system. In the experiment, droplets were formed through the nozzle and the droplet size was measured using a digital camera and image analysis software. As nozzles, commercially available needles with inner diameters (ID) of 0.018 cm and 0.025 cm and self-fabricated nozzles with 3-holes (ID: 0.0135 cm), 4-holes (ID: 0.0135 cm), and 2-holes (ID: 0.0148 cm) were used. The mercury penetration lengths in the nozzles were 1.3 cm for the needles and 0.5 cm for the self-fabricated nozzles. The droplets formed from each nozzle maintained stable spherical shape up to 20 cm below the nozzle. The droplet size measurements were within a 10% error range when compared to the Scheele-Meister model estimates. The experimental results show that the Scheele-Meister model for droplet size estimation can be applied to nozzles that stably form droplets in a water-mercury system.
In this work, the conventional transient liquid phase(TLP) bonding was modified. An attempt was made of using a liquid phase sintered alloy, which will be a liquid phase coexisting with a solid phase at the bonding temperature, as an interlayer for bonding metals. With an aim of revealing the fundamental features of this modified TLP bonding, the kinetics concerned with the growth of solid particles and the isothermal solidification process in Fe-1.16wt%B and Fe-4.5wt%P interlayers for the bonding pure iron, as well as the morphological change of the solid particle, were investigated.
