탄화수소연료의 열분해 Soot발생특성 분석에 관한 연구 (Characterization of Soot Produced from Thermal Decomposition of Hydrocarbon Fuel)

  • Soot and harmful exhaust gas produced by liquid hydrocarbon fuel caused various environmental problems. In this study, soot characteristics produced by thermal decomposition of acetylene and diesel were analyzed, which are formed at different temperatures. These fuels were observed to produce particulate matters, and collected soot samples were observed by using TEM & SEM. These were found to be significantly different in structure and crystallinity.

  • 본 연구를 통해 개발하고자 하는 Wire-Mesh Type Mist Eliminator는 탄화수소(Hydrocarbon)를 취급하는 석유화학 공정 내에서 Vapor 중에 존재하는 $10{\mu}m$ 이하크기의 미세한 액체 Mist를 분리하는데 사용되는 화학 공정플랜트 요소부품이다. 석유화학 공정에서 발생되는 $5{\mu}m$이하의 크기를 가지는 액체 Mist를 제거하기 위해서는 Stainless와 Polypropylene 재질이 혼합된 새로운 WMT Mist Eliminator 국산화 제품개발 시급하다. 실험을 통해 확보한 인자를 바탕으로 제작된 시제품의 분석결과 석유 화학공정에 이용이 가능한 것을 확인하고 성능이 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

Piston Crevice Hydrocarbon Oxidation During Expansion Process in an SI Engine

  • Combustion chamber crevices in SI engines are identified as the largest contributors to the engine-out hydrocarbon emissions. The largest crevice is the piston ring-pack crevice. A numerical simulation method was developed, which would allow to predict and understand the oxidation process of piston crevice hydrocarbons. A computational mesh with a moving grid to represent the piston motion was built and a 4-step oxidation model involving seven species was used. The sixteen coefficients in the rate expressions of 4-step oxidation model are optimized based on the results from a study on the detailed chemical kinetic mechanism of oxidation in the engine combustion chamber. Propane was used as the fuel in order to eliminate oil layer absorption and the liquid fuel effect. Initial conditions of the burned gas temperature and in-cylinder pressure were obtained from the 2-zone cycle simulation model. And the simulation was carried out from the end of combustion to the exhaust valve opening for various engine speeds, loads, equivalence ratios and crevice volumes. The total hydrocarbon (THC) oxidation in the crevice during the expansion stroke was 54.9% at 1500 rpm and 0.4 bar (warmed-up condition). The oxidation rate increased at high loads, high swirl ratios, and near stoichiometric conditions. As the crevice volume increased, the amount of unburned HC left at EVO (Exhaust Valve Opening) increased slightly.

  • 탄화수소계 연료를 사용하는 재생냉각 로켓엔진 연소기에서는 벽면온도가 올라감에 따라 냉각채널 벽면에 화합물이 침전되는 코킹현상이 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 현상은 냉각 유체에 의한 냉각 성능을 감소시키고 결과적으로 과열에 의한 연소기 손상을 야기할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 재생냉각채널을 모사하는 전기가열장치 실험결과를 소개하고 실험결과를 바탕으로 구리합금과 탄화수소계 연료(Jet A-1)와의 적합성에 대해서 검토하였다.

  • 극초음속 순항 비행체에 탑재되어 운용 가능한 능동냉각시스템을 개발하기 위해서는 탄화수소 액체연료의 흡열반응을 이용한 재생냉각 기술에 대한 일련의 연구가 선행되어야 하며, 그 중에서도 광범위한 온도/압력 조건에서의 탄화수소 항공유에 대한 열물리적 물성치 획득과 함께 재생냉각시스템용 미세채널 내에서의 초임계 탄화수소의 유동/열전달/흡열분해 특성 등에 대한 연구가 필수적이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 최근 전세계적으로 수행되고 있는 효율적인 극초음속 비행체용 재생냉각시스템 개발을 위한 초임계 탄화수소 항공유의 냉각채널 내에서의 물성치/유동/열전달/흡열분해 특성에 관한 다양한 기술 및 그와 관련된 주요 연구 동향을 분석하였다.

가시화를 이용한 가솔린 엔진의 실린더 벽면에서의 연료액막 거동 분석 (Investigation of the Liquid Fuel Film Behavior on the Cylinder Liner in an SI Engine)

  • The investigation of liquid fuel film on the cylinder liner is an essential to understand the engine-out hydrocarbon emissions formation in SI engines. In this research, two-dimensional visualization was carried out to investigate the liquid fuel film on the quartz liner in the optical engine. For this, the optical engine with hydraulic system was designed based on the commercial SI engine. The visualization was based on the laser-induced fluorescence with total reflection technique. Using a quartz liner and a special lens, only the liquid fuel film on the liner was visualized. With using this technique, the distribution of the fuel film on the cylinder liner was measured for different engine conditions and injection timing in the optical engine.

The High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Analysis of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Oysters from the Intertidal and Subtidal Zones of Chinhae Bay, Korea

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAMs) are ubiquitous contaminants in marine environments. PAHs enter estuarine and nearshore marine environment via several routes such as combustion of fossil fuels, domestic and industrial effluents and oil spills PAHs have been the focus of numerous studies in the world because they owe potentially carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic to aquatic organisms and humans from consuming contaminated food. However, one can hardly find any available data on PAM content in marine organisms in Korea. The present study was carried out in order to determine PAH content in oysters from the intertidal and subtidal zones of Chinhae Bay, which is located in near urban communities and an industrial complex, and the bay is considered to be a major repositories of PAHs. 16 PAHs were analyzed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with uv/vis and fluorescence detectors in oysters: they are naphthalene (NPTHL), acenaphthylene (ANCPL), acenaphthene (ACNPN), fluorene (FLURN), phenanthrene (PKEN), anthracene (ANTHR), fluoranthene (FLRTH), pyrene (PYRf), benzo(a)anthracene (BaA), chrysene (CHRY), benzo(b)- fluoranthene (BbF), benzo(k)fluoranthene (BkF), benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), dibenz(a, h)anthracene (DhA), benzo(g, h, i)peryne (Bghip) and indeno(1, 2, 3, -cd)pyrene (I123cdP). The PAH contents in oysters from the intertidal and subtidal zones of Chinhae Bay ranged from < 0.1 to 992.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg (mean 69.8 $\pm$ 9.8 $\mu\textrm{g}$/kg).   • Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) was carried out in heat-exchanger typed reactor with cobalt metallic foam catalyst. Considering the heat and mass transfer limitations in the cobalt catalyst, a Co-foam catalyst with an inner metallic foam frame and an outer cobalt catalyst was developed. The Co-foam catalyst was highly selective toward liquid hydrocarbon production and the liquid hydrocarbon productivity at $203^{\circ}C$ reached to $52.5ml/(kg_{cat}{\cdot}h)$, which was higher than that obtained by the Co-pellet. Furthermore, the heat-exchanger typed reactor was developed to efficiently control the highly exothermic reaction heat. The reaction heat generated in the FTS reaction on the cobalt active site was easily transferred to reactor wall by the metallic foam in the catalyst and the transferred reaction heat was directly removed by the hot oil which circulated the wall side of the heat-exchanger typed reactor.

  • Ionic liquids (ILs) have been extensively investigated as promising alternatives to conventional organic solvents such as sulfolane and N,N-dimethylformamide for the selective extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons from the $C_6-C_{10}$ hydrocarbon mixtures produced from the cracking processes of naphtha and light oils. The most important advantage of ILs over conventional organic solvents is that they are immiscible with aliphatic hydrocarbons, and thus the back extraction of ILs from the raffinate phases and top hydrocarbon-rich layers is not necessary. In this paper, a brief review on the state of the art in the utilization of ILs for aromatics separation is presented.

  • 초음파 진동자에 의해 미립화된 탄화수소계 액체연료를 분사하는 버너(burner)의 연소특성을 고찰하기 위한 실험이 수행되었다. DSLR 카메라를 이용하여 미립화된 액체연료의 화염형상을 획득하였고, 이미지 후처리를 통해 그 구조를 면밀히 분석하였다. 또한 열전대를 이용하여 연소장의 온도도 측정하였다. 그 결과, 버너 내부에 주입되는 수송가스의 질량유량과, 초음파 진동자의 진폭에 비례하여 화염의 크기가 커졌다. 또한, 버너 작동조건의 변이에 따른 연소장의 온도분포를 측정, 제시한다.
