In this paper an experimental study is presented to investigate the dynamic behavior of impacting droplet onto a liquid film. The main parameters are the droplet velocity and the thickness of the liquid film. Photographic images are presented to show the formation of crown, central jet and disintegrating droplet from the central jet. The emphasis is on presenting the time evolution of crown diameter, crown height, central jet height and the size of disintegrating droplet from the central jet. The diameter and height of crown are higher for faster droplet and thinner liquid film. On the other hand, the height of central jet are higher for faster droplet and thicker liquid film. The size of disintegrating droplet from the central jet heavily depends on the droplet velocity; Larger droplet is produced with faster falling droplets.

In this paper an experimental study is presented of the problem of dynamic behavior of a water droplet impinging upon a heated surface. The experiments are mainly focused on the effects of impinging angle of a droplet and surface temperature on the impact dynamics of the droplet. It Is clarified that the droplet exhibits much different behavior depending on the normal momentum of an impinging droplet before impact. At surface temperature In the nucleate boiling regime. the disintegration of a droplet doesn't occur, whereas the deforming droplet adheres to the surface. The spreading and contraction of the liquid film is repeated a couple of times for the horizontal surface but the expanded droplet just slips without noticeable contraction for the inclined surfaces. In the film boiling regime, the impinging droplet spreads over the surface as a liquid film which is separated from the surface by produced vapor. Depending on the magnitude of the normal momentum of the droplet the disintegration into the several irregular shapes of liquid elements occurs for the horizontal and 30o-inclined surfaces, whereas the impinging droplet for the 60o-inclined surface doesn't break up and tends to recover the original spherical shape.

An experimental study on the behavior of droplets impinging on a solid flat surface was carried out in the present study. Breakup of a liquid droplet impinging on a solid surface has been investigated experimentally for various liquids with different properties. The liquid droplet temperature and incident angle were chosen as major parameters. Liquid droplet temperature and incident angle varied in the range from $-20{\circ}C\;to\;30{\circ}C\;and\;from\;30{\circ}\;to\;60{\circ},$ respectively. It was found that the variation of droplet temperature influences upon the mean diameter and uniformity of droplets which were bounced out from the solid surface. With increase of incident angle the dispersion mass fraction increases, causing the decrease of liquid film flow rate. As the liquid temperature increases, dispersion mass fraction increases since the surface tension decreases.

The present study aims to numerically investigate the behavior of liquid droplet driven by capillarity force imbalance on horizontal surfaces ranging from hydrophilic to hydrophobic, under various conditions. The droplet behavior has been simulated using an in-house solution code(PowerCFD), which employs an unstructured cell-centered method based on a conservative pressure-based finite-volume method with interface capturing method(CICSAM) in a volume of fluid(VOF) scheme for phase interface capturing. The detailed droplet behavior was obtained under various conditions for droplets with different initial shapes, contact angles and surface tension forces(or Bond number). The mechanism of droplet transport was examined using the numerical results on the droplet shapes.
An experimental study on the behavior of droplets impinging on a solid flat surface was carried out in the present study. Breakup of a liquid droplet impinging on a solid surface has been investigated experimentally for various fuels with different properties. The fuel temperature and incident angle were chosen as major parameters. And fuel temperature and incident angle varied in the range from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$ and from $30^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$, respectively, were investigated. It was found that the variation of fuel temperature influences upon droplet mean diameter which were bounced out from the solid surface. As the increases of incident angle, the break-out mass flow rate increases. This causes the decrease of liquid film flow rate. The larger incident angle gives less liquid film flow rate.
In this study, the behavior of water or nanofluid droplets impacting upon a hot surface was investigated by visualization of impacting phenomena with time-delayed photographic technique. Changing the mass ratio of nanofluid and the temperature of the heated surface, the characteristics of the spreading behavior and the diameter of spreading liquid film was compared between water and nanofluid droplets. The impacting droplet spreaded as a liquid film after impact and nanofluid droplets spreaded more widely than water droplets. After reaching the maximum diameter, water droplets shrinked more than nanofluid droplets. Based on this, the heat transfer area from a hot surface to impacting nanofluid droplets would be wider than that of impacting water droplets. Considering individual impacting droplet only, spray cooling using nanofluid would be better than using water.
Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of biomolecules, a newly-found phase behavior of molecules in the liquid phase, has shown to its relationship to various biological function and misfolding diseases. Extensive studies have increasingly revealed a general mechanism of LLPS and characterized the liquid droplet; ho wever, intermolecular interactions of proteins and structural states of LLPS-inducing proteins inside of the droplet remain largely unknown. Solution NMR spectroscopy has emerged as a powerful approach as it provides invaluable information on protein intermolecular interactions and structures at the atomic and residue level. We herein comprehensively address useful techniques of solution NMR including the effect of paramagnetic relaxation enhancement for the study on the LLPS and droplet based on recent studies.
The spherically-symmetric burning of an isolated droplet is a dynamic problem that involves the coupling of chemical reactions and multi-phase flow with phase change. For the improved understanding of these phenomena, this paper presents the numerical results on the n-heptane droplet combustion conducted at a 1 atm ambient pressure in three different initial droplet diameter ($d_0$). The main purpose of this study is to provide basic information of droplet burning, extinction and flame behavior of n-heptane and improve the ability of theoretical prediction of these phenomena. To achieve these, the numerical analysis was conducted in terms of normalized droplet diameter ($d/d_0$), flame diameter ($d_f$) and flame standoff ratio (FSR) under the assumptions that the droplet combustion can be described by both the quasi-steady behavior for the region between the droplet surface and the flame interface and the transient behavior for the region between the flame interface and ambient surrounding.
In this paper an experimental study is presented to investigate the effect of a step edge and a stationary droplet on the dynamic behavior of impacting droplet on a wall. The main parameters are the distance from the edge and the center-to-center distance between two droplets. Photographic images are presented to show coalescence dynamics, shape evolution and contact line movement. The emphasis is on presenting the spreading length of droplet for the step edge and two coalescing droplets along their original centers. It is clarified that the droplet exhibits much different dynamic behavior depending on the location of the step edge. The momentum of impacting droplet was better transferred to the stationary droplet as the center- to-center distance between two droplets was reduced, which results in more spreading of coalescing droplet.
In this study, the mechanisms of binary droplet collision were studied with diesel, ethanol and purified water. The droplet collisions of liquid droplet have been investigated for the same droplet diameter. In order to obtain the digital images of the droplet collision behavior, the experimental equipment was composed of the droplet generating system and the droplet visualization system. The droplets were produced by the vibrating orifice monodisperse generator. The visualization system consisted of a long distance microscope, a light source, and a high speed camera. The outcomes of binary droplet collision can be divided into four regimes, bouncing, coalescence, reflexive separation and stretching separation. The impact angle and the relative velocity of binary droplet are main parameters of collision phenomena, so the transition mechanism of droplet collision can be divided by the impact parameter.
