The novel voltammetry using a semi-circular potential wave for quasi-reversible charge transfer system on electrode is theoretically investigated. Compared with conventional voltammetry based on linear sweep such as linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), semi-circular potential sweep voltammetry (SCV) may decrease the charging current outside the center of potential range and increase the faradaic current at the midpoint due to variable scan rate. In this paper, we investigate the system based on macroelectrode where simple 1 dimensional (1 D) diffusion system is valid with various charge transfer rate constant (k0). In order to observe the amplification at midpoint, voltammetric response with different midpoint ranging from -200 mV to 200 mV are studied. SCVs shows both the shift of peak potential and the amplification of peak current for quasi-reversible electrode reaction while only higher peak current is observed for reversible reaction. Moreover, the higher current at midpoint enable the amplification of current at low overpotential region which may assist the determination of onset potential as a figure-of-merit in electrocatalyst.
Heat transfer in linear motor driven stages for surface mounting device applications was investigated. A simple one-dimensional thermal resistance model (TRM) was introduced. In order to reduce three-dimensional nature to one-dimensional, a few assumptions and simplifications were employed suitably. A good agreement with a finite element heat transfer analysis in temperature profile was obtained. For validation, the analysis was compared with the measurement with respect to motor driving power. Overall discrepancy was less than 7$^{\circ}C$. The influence of two high thermal resistance parts, insulation sheet and thermal contact between the coil assembly and the mounting plate, was examined through the analysis. Additionally, the thermal resistance analysis was applied to another stage including an internal cooling-air passage, and was found available for this system as well. After validation, the cooling effect was surveyed in terms of motor power, and cooling-air and -water flow rate.

In this paper, we will introduce a control strategy based on the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) container transfer system using soft-computing algorithm. Linear motor-based container transport system (LMCTS) is horizontal transfer system for the yard automation, which has been proposed to take the place of automated guided vehicle in the maritime container terminal. LMCTS is considered as that the system is changed its model suddenly and variously by loading and unloading container. The proposed control system is consisted of two DR-FNNs that act the role of controller and system emulator. Consequently, the system had the predictable structure and an ability to adapt for a huge variation of rolling friction, detent force, and sudden changes of its weight by loading and unloading.
In general, it may be advantageous to measure the pressure pulsation near a valve to detect a valve defect in a linear compressor. However, the acceleration signals are more advantageous for rapid classification in a mass-production line. This paper deals with the performance improvement of fault classification using only the compressor-shell acceleration signal based on the relation between the refrigerant pressure pulsation and the shell acceleration of the compressor. A transfer function was estimated experimentally to take into account the signal noise ratio between the pressure pulsation of the refrigerant in the suction pipe and the shell acceleration. The shell acceleration signal of the compressor was modified using this transfer function to improve the defect classification performance. The defect classification of the modified signal was evaluated in the acceleration signal in the frequency domain using Fisher's discriminant ratio (FDR). The defect classification method was validated by experimental data. By using the method presented, the classification of valve defects can be performed rapidly and efficiently during mass production.
Heat (mass) transfer characteristics have been investigated on the endwall of a large-scale linear turbine cascade passage under a combustor-level high free-stream turbulence with a large length scale. Local heat (mass) transfer coefficients are measured by using the naphthalene sublimation technique. The result shows that local heat (mass) transfer on the endwall is greatly enhanced in the central region of the turbine passage, but there is no noticeable change in the local heat (mass) transfer in the region suffering severe heat load. Under the high free-stream turbulence, the local heat (mass) transfer coefficient shows more uniform distribution and its average value across the whole endwall region is increased by 26% of that at low turbulence condition. The heat (mass) transfer data on the endwall strongly supports that well-organized vortices near the endwall tends to suffer an suppression by the high free-stream turbulence.
Ways to efficiently manufacture gloss exposed mass concrete at an inexpensive price, in other words, ways to paste transparent transfer paper onto the surface of a combined mold has been designated as New Technology Article 191 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. But if the difference in the coefficient of linear expansion between the mold's and transfer paper's material causes temperature to rise or fall, a wrinkly surface can appear. Therefore this study, by experimentally comparing the deformation characteristics between the mold material and transfer paper material upon changes in temperature, seeks to serve as a basic reference point for selecting the optimal transfer paper for different mold types. Study results revealed that for molds, polyester resin transfer paper is optimal, and for aluminum molds, acrylic resin transfer paper is.
We propose several practical SMC protocols for privacy-preserving cooperative scientific computations. We consider two important scientific computations which involve linear equations: the linear systems of equations problem and the linear least-square problem. The protocols proposed in this paper achieve acceptable security in the sense of Du-Zhan's paradigm and t-wise collusion-resistance, and their communication complexity is O(tm), where t is a security parameter and m is the total number of participants. The complexity of our protocol is significantly better than the previous result O($m^2/{\mu}$) of [4], in which the oblivious transfer protocol is used as an important building block.
In this paper we present a method of determining the unknown degree of any 2D discrete linear shift-invariant system which is characterized only by the coefficients of the double power series of a transfer function, i.e. a 2D impulse response array. Our method is based on a 2D extension of Berlekamp-Massey algorithm for synthesis of linear feedback shift registers, and it gives a novel approach to identification and approximation of 2D linear systems, which can be distinguished in its simplicity and potential of applicability from the other 2D Levinson-type algorithms. Furthermore, we can solve problems of 2D Pade approximation and 2D system reduction on a reasonable assumption in the context of 2D linear systems theory.
Complementation theory in krein spaces can be extended for any self-adjoint transformation. There is a close relation between Julia operators and linear systems. The theory of Julia operators can be used to construct distinct Krein spaces which are the state spaces of extended canonical linear systems with given transfer function.
