The Analysis on Vector Control Characteristics of LIM Using Finite Element Method (FEM을 이용한 선형유도 전동기의 벡터제어 특성 해석)

  • For a linear induction motor(LIM), the constants of each phase are different due to the structure. In this paper, a vector control analysis method of a LIM taking into consideration its asymmetrical constants are proposed. And, in order to prove the propriety of proposed vector control method and to analyze the dynamic characteristics of LIM's vector control, FEM taking into account of movement and using stator tapped winding is used in the analysis region. So, It is confirmed that the proposed asymetrical constants vector control theory and simulation method of mixing with FEM is appropriate to dynamic characteristics analysis of LIM.

  • An electromagnets and a single-sided linear induction motor(SLIM) are used for suspension and propulsion equipment respectively. The electromagnets and SLIM are installed in the same frame, called a bogie, to reduce the volume under the vehicle floor and to raise the response charateristics to follow the track. Then the 3-dimensional forces(thrust force, normal force, side force) generated by SLIM direct]y affect the suspension system as the disturbance force. Moreover, in the running condition, the gap length variation in the electromagnets is the same as the SLIM.   • Magnetic path direction in the back-iron of a linear induction motor(LIM) is perpendicular to that of the lift-magnet of the MAGLEV which is recently developing in KOREA. In general the back-iron is isolated magnetically in conventional rail in order to eliminate the thrust dependency of the LIM on the lift force. However the magnetic isolation causes some increase in construction and management cost. So a unit-type rail system is considered, which the magnetic circuit of the back-iron is sharing that of the lift-magnet. In this paper 3-dimensional analysis for the lift-magnet is carried out using finite element method. As a result, a new shape of the unit-type rail is presented to reduce the magnetic dependency between thrust force and lift force. Also the distribution of magnetic flux density vectors and current-lift force characteristics are presented.

  • When the magnet wheel rotates over a conducting plate, it generates the traction torque as well as the repulsive force on the conducting plate. Partially-cut traction torque results in the linear force into the tangential direction. To cut the traction torque, the concept of magnetic shield is introduced. The direction change of the linear force is realized varying the shielded area of magnetic field. That is, the tangential direction of non-shielded open area becomes the direction of the linear thrust force. Specially a shape of permanent magnets composing the magnet wheel leads to various pattern of magnetic forces. So, to enlarge the resulting force density and compensate its servo property a few simulations are performed under various conditions such as repeated pattern, pole number, radial width of permanent magnets, including shape of open area. The theoretical model of the magnet wheel is derived using air-gap field analysis of linear induction motor, compared with test result and the sensitivity analysis for its parameter change is performed using common tool; MAXWELL. Using two-axial wheel set-up, the tracking motion is tested for a copper plate with its normal motion constrained and its result is given. In conclusion, it is estimated that the magnet wheel using partial shield can be applied to a noncontact conveyance of the conducting plate.

High Gain Observer-based Robust Tracking Control of LIM for High Performance Automatic Picking System (고성능 자동피킹 시스템을 위한 선형 유도 모터의 고이득 관측기 기반의 강인 추종 제어)

  • To implement an automatic picking system (APS) in distribution center with high precision and high dynamics, this paper presents a high gain observer-based robust speed controller design for a linear induction motor (LIM) drive. The force disturbance as well as the mechanical parameter variations such as the mass and friction coefficient gives a direct influence on the speed control performance of APS. To guarantee a robust control performance, the system uncertainty caused by the force disturbance and mechanical parameter variations is estimated through a high gain disturbance observer and compensated by a feedforward manner. While a time-varying disturbance due to the mass variation can not be effectively compensated by using the conventional disturbance observer, the proposed scheme shows a robust performance in the presence of such uncertainty. A Simulink library has been developed for the LIM model from the state equation. Through comparative simulations based on Matlab - Simulink, it is proved that the proposed scheme has a robust control nature and is most suitable for APS.

Detection Method of Series Arc Signal (직렬아크신호지 검출방법)

  • This paper dealt with a detection method of series arc existence which is a symptom of electric fires in low-voltage system. The proposed detection circuit consists of a high-pass filter with a low cut-off frequency of 3kHz to attenuate power frequency voltage by 80 dB and an active band-pass filter with a center frequency of 4kHz to detect only the series arc signals. The performance of the circuit was evaluated in a phase-controlled incandescent lamp as a non-linear load and an inverted-fed induction motor as a high frequency load by using the arc generator specified in UL1699. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the proposed method solved the detection error, which is being the most problem, by discriminating the series arc signal even in non-linear and high frequency loads.

  • Maglev vehicle has two parts a vehicle body and a series of bogies. The vehicle body is connected through a pneumatic suspension on the bogie frame operating loads, vehicle weight and passengers, repeatedly during the service life. The bogie frame plays an important role in sustaining the weight of the vehicle body and controlling the magnets in the correct alignment to meet requirements of stable running on railway. It is also subjected to the levitation and guidance force and propulsion force generated by electromagnets and linear induction motor (LIM) respectively. To guarantee a vehicle system, it is necessary to identify a load test method with proper loads that the vehicle is expected to experience while in service. In this paper, a test method was proposed to verify the structural safety of vehicle body and bogie frame that are applied to an EMS(electromagnetic suspension)-type urban Maglev vehicle considering in case of not only running on the ground but also levitated running.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 운행되고 있는 선형 유도전동기의 슬립주파수 고정 방식이 아닌 선형 유도전동기를 이용한 자기부상열차의 슬립주파수와 수직력 및 추진력과의 관계를 이용, 열차의 가감속시 운행패턴에 따라 운행 중 슬립주파수가 가변할 수 있는 슬립주파수 가변패턴을 형성, 선형유도전동기 자기부상시스템에서의 에너지 효율향상 가능성을 검증하였다. 슬립주파수와 수직력, 추진력과의 관계를 이용 슬립주파수 일정 실효치전류제어 알고리즘과 슬립주파수 일정 벡터제어 알고리즘을 사용하여 운전조건과 슬립주파수를 변경하며 운전조건에 따른 가장 효율적인 슬립주파수의 패턴을 형성하였다. 이 후 모의시험과 실차를 이용한 실험을 통해 알고리즘에 대한 정당성과 실제 효율의 증가를 통해 타당성을 검증하였다. 앞선 두 가지 알고리즘을 통해 열차부상에 영향을 미치지 않는 범위의 수직력을 가지는 범위내에서 슬립주파수를 가변 운전 조건에 따른 최적의 슬립주파수에 대한 정보를 기반으로 운행 중 가변하는 슬립주파수를 자동열차운전(ATO)시스템에 적용 모의실험을 통해 그 적용가능성과 효율을 검증하였다.

  • This paper is proposed new optimal PWM scheme is based on a defined linear relationship between the successive pulsewidths of the PWM pattern. The calculation of the pulsewidths in the new PWM scheme is caried out without referring to the equations of CW and MW. With this scheme the PWM pattern for microprocessor controlled inverters can be composed easily by obtaining the optimal increment in sucessive pulsiwidths of the pattern. Furthmore, the harmonic level at the output of PWM inverter are always very low because this PWM pattern is selected on the basis of minimum THD. Theis scheme is applied to 1(Hp), three phase induction motor, and compared with conventional regular PWM scheme. The results of calculations and experiments show that new optimal PWM scheme could provide an effective generalized approach for minimization of harmonics in the VSI-PWM inverter.

  • In the case of Linear induction motor(LIM), numerical analysis method like Finite Element Method(FEM) has been mainly used to analyze the travelling magnetic field problem which includes the velocity-induced electromotive force. If the problem including the velocity-induced electromotive force is analyzed by FEM using Galerkin method, the solution can be oscillated according to Peclet Number, which is determined by conductivity, permeability, moving velocity and size of mesh. Consequently, the accuracy of the solution can be low and the Loops of flux can be occurred at the secondary back-iron. These loops of flux occurred at the secondary back-iron does not exist physically, but it can be occurred in the analysis. In this case, the loops of flux can be generally removed by using Up-Wind method which is impossible to apply a conventional S/W tool(Maxwell 2D). Therefore, in this paper, authors examined the Loops of flux occurred at the secondary back-iron of LIM according to variations of Peclet Number, and analyzed whether these loops of flux affect on the thrust force characteristics of LIM or not.
