The objective of this finite element method study was to analyze the stress distribution induced in a maxillary central incisor Ni-Cr base metal coping ceramic crowns with various margin design. Margin designs of crown in this experiment were knife-edge metal margin on chamfer finishing line of tooth preparation(M1), butt metal margin on shoulder finishing line(M2), reinforced butt metal margin on shoulder finishing line(M3), beveled metal margin on bevelde shoulder finishing line(M4). Two- dimensional finite element models of crown designs were subjected to a simulated biting force of 100N which was forced over porcelain near the lingual incisal edge. Base on plane stress analysis, the maxium von Miss stresses(Mpa) in porcelain venner was 0.432, in metal coping was 0.579, in dentin abutment was 0.324 for M1 model, and M2 model revealed in porcelain was 0.556, in metal coping was 0.511, in dentin was 0.339, and M3 model revealed in porcelain was 0.556, in metal coping was 0.794, in dentin was 0.383 for M4 model. All values of each material in metal-ceramic crown were much below the critical failure values.
A rigid visco-plastic finite element method has been developed for modeling superplastic forming processes. The optimum pressure-time relationship for a target strain rate and thickness distributions was predicted using two-node line element based on membrane approximation for plane strain and axisymmetric condition. Analysis of superplastic forming was carried out using the developed program and the numerical results were compared to the values available in the literature for plane strain problems. For description of the contact between the dies and sheet, the direct projection method was applied to the complicated problem and the validity of the scheme was tested. Experiments for the various geometries such as hemisphere and cone were performed with the developed forming machine using the calculated optimum pressure-time curves. Comparison between analysis and experiments showed good agreement.
In this paper, the high-$T_c$ , superconductor (HTS) microstrip patch antenna which is directly coupled to a microstrip transmission line is designed and the numerical solution which evaluate near electromagnetic field of HTS antenna is presented. This solution uses the interpolation function with the vector edge triangular element. The advantage of this element is the elimination of spurious solutions attributed to the lack of enforcement of the divergence condition. The results of this method have a good agreement with $TM_10$ mode in HTS microstrip patch antenna and show that the computation of resonant length considering the fringing capacitance effect at radiating edge are proper.
Visualization of the mixing pattern in a non-element mixer was carried out using laser induced fluorescence(LIF) to evaluate characteristics of mixer consisting of the main flow pipe and branch flow pipes. The branch flows were injected periodically with the period $T_{in}$ normal to the main flow, and rhodamine B was mixed into the most upstream branch flow to visualize mixing pattern in the main flow pipe by LIF. The length of boundary line L of the LIF image was measured. In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to identify the mixing process of the non-element mixer, and the results were compared with experimental results. Each result was almost the same. When the number of branch flows is increased, the mixing pattern became complicated and was supposed to become chaotic. The length of boundary line L increased exponentially with an increase in the number of branch flows.
In this paper, electric field interference was analyzed in the Printed Circuit Board to restrain the elcctromagnetic wave using Boundary Element Method and Finite Element Method. First, charge density distribution was simulated using Boundary Element Method and the characteristic impedance was caculated to restrain the reflex wave, and mutual capacitance was caculated in the multi-strip line PCB. Finally, electric field was simulated in the variable patterns using Finite Element Method. As a result, the optimal structure and characteristics of strip line was obtained and the imformations about the optimal design pattern could be obtained with the analysing the feild distribution.
Finite element analysis tool was developed to analyze the casting process. Generally, casting processes consists of mold filling and solifification. In order to investigate the effects of process variables and to predict the defects, both filling and solidiffication process were simulated simultaneously. At filling process, especiallywe consider thermal coupling to investigate thermal history of material during the filling stage. And thermal condition at the final stage of filling is used as the initial conditions in a solidification process for the exact simulation of the actual casting processes. At mold filling process, Lagrangian-type finite element method with automatic remashing scheme was used to find the material flow. To avoid numerical instability in low viscous fluid, a perturbation method with artificial viscosity is adopted. At solififfication process, enthalpy-based finite element method was used to solve the heat transfer problem with phase change. And elastic stress analysis has been performed to predict the thermal residual stress. Through the FE analysis, solidiffication time, position of solidus line, liquidus line and thermal residual stress are studied. Finite element tools developed in this study will be used process design of casting process and maybe basic structure for total CAE system of castigs which will be constructed afterward.
In this research, on-line model for prediction of effective strain distribution hi strip on finishing mill process is prescribed. It has been developed using several selected non-dimensional parameters and previously made average effective strain model via series of finite element process simulations, $\Delta$$\varepsilon$ was introduced to describe the effective strain distribution in strip. To confirm adequate non-dimensional variables uniqueness test was done. And to decide the order of polynomial in on-line model equation tendency test for each variables was done. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with finite element calculation results.
This paper describes a register-controlled symmetrical delay-locked-loop (DLL) using hybrid delay line for use in a high frequency double-data-rate DRAM. The proposed DLL uses a hybrid delay line which can cover two-step delays(coarse/fine delay) by one delay element. The DLL dissipate less power than a conventional dual-loop DLL which use a coarse and a fine delay element and control separately. Additionally, this DLL not only achieves small phase resolution compared to the conventional digital DLL's when it is locked but it also has a great simple delay line compared to a complex dual-loop DLL.
Tailored-welded blanks are used for forming of automobile structural and skin components. Its main objective is to achieve weight and production cost reduction in manufacturing of the components. For successful application of tailored-welded blanks design of initial welded blanks and prediction of welding line movement are critical. Here the utilization of the backward tracing scheme of the finite element method shows to be desirable in design of initial welded blanks for net-shape production and in prediction of the welding line movement. First the design of initial blank in forming of welded thick sheet with isotropy is tried and it appears successful in obtaining a net-shape stamping product. Based in the first approach the backward tracing scheme is applied to anisotropic tailored blank. The welding line movement is also discussed.
In this paper, a miniaturized directional coupler utilizing lumped element is proposed as a interdigital capacitor. The traditional miniaturization technique of transmission line realized a utilizing MIM(Metal-Insulator-Metal) capacitor on CPW(Coplanar Waveguide). However, we present a simplified design procedure without additional manufacturing process utilizing interdigital capacitor on microstrip with ease of design. The similar characteristics between the conventional directional coupler with ${\lambda}/4$ transmission line and the miniaturized directional coupler with ${\lambda}/8$ transmission line are validated through simulation and measurement results. Miniaturization rate of total size is about 25% while coupled line is about 60%. As a result, this proposed directional coupler can reduce the size of mobile communication system at 2 GHz.
