  • The importance of the net-based customer service in delivering supplementary after-sale services associated with product has been well documented. The strategic advantages of a well-implemented the net-based customer service are enhanced customer loyalty and higher lock-in of customers, and the resulting reduction in competition and the consequent increase in profits. However, not all customers utilize such the net-based customer service. This is partly due to the e-commerce divide, and partly due to privacy and security concerns of the customer for sharing personal information with firms. The limited level of customer adoption of the net-based customer service affects the firm profits and the customers' welfare. We use a game-theoretic model in which we model the net-based customer service system as a mechanism to enhance customers' loyalty. We find that an increase in adoption of the net-based customer service by the customer base is not always desirable for firms. and that customers who utilize such services are better off only when the overall adoption is limited.

  • Recently the wireless-internet has been spreading extensively. People are spending a large part of their time gaining access to information using a mobile device. With the rapid growth of on-line Electronic Commerce, the use of mobile devices creates a new paradigm that provides users with location-independent real time service. Although this new paradigm does have some advantages, limited process speed, low bandwidth, the low battery capacity of mobile devices, and a high rate of wireless network errors causes many overhead expenses during service time with the server. In this paper, we suggest an autonomous service delivery system, which provides mobile agent capability to users that cannot maintain a connection. We have developed the system based on java mobile agent technology. Using this system, we can provide more effective service to users when the user is sending requirements for service through a mobile device that has limited resources. Furthermore we can manage the contact server dynamically when new services are added.

  • The selection of the optimal partners in supply chain management is one of the most critical success factors. In the past, partners for outsourcing production were selected repeatedly within a closed group of candidates due to the limited information and location of partners. But, the wide use of internet and the development of electronic commerce make it possible that the partners capable of providing the optimal services are selected regardless of their location or nationality. And the concept of partners was limited to the provider of production resources. In the supply chain management, the concept should be extended to the provider of transportation and warehouse due to the high portion of transportation cost among the total production cost Therefore, In this study, we propose an analytical approach to the selection of Production and transportation partners in supply chain management. For this purpose a mathematical model is developed, and then a heuristic algorithm based on tabu search is presented since the model belongs to the NP hard problem.

  • From the 1978 Seasat synthetic aperture radar(SAR) to present systems, spaceborne SAR has demonstrated the capability to image the Earth's ocean and land features over broad areas, day and night, and under most weather conditions. The application of SAR for surveillance of commercial fishing grounds can did in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provides more efficient use cf limited aircraft or patron craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which uses the ground-based radar system has some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range cf about 10 miles. This paper introduces the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and proposes a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

  • The main purpose of cooperative communications is improvement of communication quality and efficient use of transmission power. In this paper, a cooperative retransmission method is proposed, where neighbor nodes that receive messages correctly between transmit and receive nodes will participate in retransmission of the erroneous packet of the direct link. When the proposed retransmission method is used, the performance of the PER can be greatly improved. In case that the limited information is included in the NACK message, the transmit power of the retransmission packet can be reduced using the proper power control method.

  • In industrial fields, human works are being replaced by robots. However, as the use of robots is limited in the process industry where they are operated fixedly, humanoid robots with wide applications need to be developed. Currently a great deal of research is being conducted on humanoid robots with the object of replacing humans in the workplace. However, because of the lack of relevant hardware and difficulty in mechanical parts, only very simple and limited progress is being made. In an effort to overcome these limitations, the purpose of the present study is to develop a kinematical mechanism and a controller. To this end, master arms with 3 degrees-of-freedom for the shoulders and the arms were composed which were able to reproduce human-like motions by simulating the characteristics of joint variables and the trajectory of the end-effector.

  • Cyclosporin A (CSA) is a poorly water-soluble cyclic peptide comprising 11 amino acids. It inhibits T-lymphocyte function that plays an important role in the induction of immune response. The potent immunosuppressive activity of CSA has been used for the prevention of rejection following transplantation of liver, kidney and bone marrow, etc. The use of CSA has been often limited by several disadvantages including low bioavailability, narrow therapeutic window, nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity and neurotoxicity. Moreover, CSA injection is limited to patients who are unable to take the oral preparations, because it has a risk of anaphylactic shock and nephrotoxicity due to Cremophor EL$\textregistered$, a solubilizing agent used in the commercial intravenous formulation. Owing to above mentioned disadvantages of commercial products, there is a great interest in the development of the alternative dosage forms. (omitted)

  • During the start-up of a process or in a job-shop environment conventional use of control charts may lead to erroneous results due to the limited number of subgroups used for the construction of control limits. This article considers the effect of using estimated control limits based on a limited number of subgroups. Especially we investigate the performance of $\overline{X}$ and R control charts when the data are independent, and X control chart when the data are serially correlated in terms of average run length(ARL) and standard deviation run length(SDRL) using simulation. It is found that the ARL and SDRL get larger as the number of subgroups used for the construction of the chart becomes smaller.

  • The use of hull structural steel with heavy thickness has been enlarging due to the increase of ship volume. High heat input welding methods like EGW, FGB and SAW tandem are applied in field of ship-building. However the application of high heat input methods is clearly limited because welding method to be most widely used is semi-automatic FCAW but heat input for FCAW is limited in order to obtain impact property at low temperature. This paper will introduce the application of 30mm bead width of FCW with Ni free & low Ni content.

  • Currently, advanced countries invest lots of efforts to develop improvement of electric power production and supply, confronting environmental problems and new energy development. They set up long term plan focusing on electric power transmission infrastructure construction technology, establishment of the customer care service network using electric technologies, improvement of economic productivity by innovative electric technology, prevention of global warming gas and clean and efficient energy use etc. Comparing to those countries, the level of technologies that we have are in behind and moreover, technological resources are limited. Therefore, Korea is required to reconsider efficient distribution of R&D investment by concentrating on limited R&D resources to important technologies which could be stepping stone to gain competitive advantage. It can be done through comparative analysis of electric technologies among advanced countries and analysis of electric technology development policy.
