Glomus species forming sporocarps were collected at limestone areas in Danyang, on coal mine overburdens in Munkyung, on plantations of Celtis sinensis in the Jindo island and Cryptomeria japonica in the Namhae island, on the Ilchulbong crater base and at a shrubby land near the Chunjiyeon fall. One of the characteristics of Glomus clavisporum is the thick wall ($25-33{\mu}m$) of its cylinderic chlamydospores at the apex. G. heterosporum chlamydospores are loosely connected with each other through brown thick-walled hyphae. G. liquidambaris has paraphysis between chlamydospores. G. rubiforme is blackberry alike. G. sinuosum has a peridium composed of golden yellow thick-walled($2-3{\mu}m$) sinuous hyphae. G. taiwanense has red brown sporocarps with yellow spores of which wall is thickest at the apex.
The composition of Chinese ceramic shards has been the subject of analysis in Europe, beginning in the 18th century, and in China from the 1950s. Scientific studies of traditional Korean shards commenced in the United States and Germany in the 1980s, and studies within Korea began in the 1990s. From analysis of a large systematically collected dataset, the composition of porcelain produced during the Kory. dynasty, including 21 celadon and 10 whiteware groups, was characterized and compared with that of Chinese ceramics. The average composition of the body and glaze of several shards (usually three to five) from each group was determined, enabling comparisons between groups. The results show that the majority of groups were derived from mica-quartz porcelain stone, which was commonly used in Yuezhou, Jingdezhen, and other southern Chinese kilns. The composition of glazes includes clay and flux components; the latter were typically wood ash and limestone, initially as burnt but later as crushed forms. The earliest of the Kangjin glazes contained substantially less titanium oxide than did the Yuezhou glazes, which were typically formulated from body material and wood ash. The present study provides a comparative framework for the growing number of analytical investigations associated with excavations occurring in Korea.
The northeastern part of the Gyeongsang Basin is widely covered by the Cretaceous Hayang Group (Aptian to Albian). The Hayang Group consists of the IIjig. Hupyeongdong, Jeomgog, and Sagog formations. Heavy mineral analysis was carried out to define the possible source rocks of the Haynag Group snadstones. Heavy minerals separated from IIjig, Hupyeongdong, and Jeomgog sandstones are hematite, ilmenite, leucoxene, magnetite, pyrite, actinolite, andalusite, apatite, biotite, chlorite, epidote, garnet, hornblende, kyanite, monazite, muscovite, rutile, sphene, spinel, staurolite, tourmaline, and zircon. Based on their close association and sensitiveness, the heavy mineral assemblages can be classified into 6 syutes: 1)apatite-green tourmaline-sphene-colorless/yellowish zircon; 2) colorless garnet-epidote-rutile-brown tourmaline; 3) rounded purple zircon-rounded tourmaline-rounded rutile; 4) augite-hornblende-color- less zircon; 5) epidote-garnet-sphene; and 6) blue tourmaline. The possible source rocks corresponding to each assemblage are 1) granitic rocks; 2) metamorphic rocks (schist and gneiss) ; 3) older sedimentary rocks; 4) andesitic rocks; 5) metamorphosed impure limestone; and 6) pegmatite, respectively. Previous paleocurrent data suggest that the sediments of the study area were mainly derived from the northeastern to southeastern directions. Thus, the most possible source areas would be the east extension part of the sobaegsan metamorphic complex to the northeast and the Cheongsong Ridge to the southeast.
Keumseong area in the southern part of the Jecheon city, the Ogcheon Belt, consists of Precambrian Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex, Dori Formation of the Choseon Supergroup, and Jurassic Jecheon Granite. The Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex consists of quartz schist, mica schist. quartzite and pegmatite. The Dori Formation is composed of mainly laminated limestone. The rocks in the study area have been undergone at least three phases of deformations since Paleozoic period. The Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex is outcrop at three areas in the study area, which are exposed along the faults and occurred as inlier within the Dori Formation. Previous authors interpreted the uplift of the Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex by the Dangdusan Fault, but we could not find any evidences related to the Dangdusan Fault. Thus, we interpret the uplift of the Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex due to the D$_2$ Weolgulri and Dangdusan thrusts and post-D$_2$ Jungbodeul, Kokyo and Jungjeonri faults. The uplift of the Busan Metamorphic Complex to the west of the study area was interpreted by ductile deformation. However, the Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex is formed by brittle thrusts and faults in this study. According to deformation sequence, the characters of deformations in the Choseon and Ogcheon suprergroups had been changed from ductile to brittle deformations through the time. Therefore, we interpret the Dangdusan Metamorphic Complex is exposed later than the Busan Metamorphic Complex.
The formation reation of anhydrite (CaSO$_{4}$) depends upon the amount and velocity of the SO$_{3}$(g) and CaO(s) produced in the process of the thermal decomposition of alunite[K$_{2}SO_{4}{\cdot}Al_{2}(SO_{4})_{3}{\cdot}4Al(OH)_{3}$] and limestone (CaCO$_{3}$) respectively. Therefore, this study had carried out to investigate the amount and velocity of SO$_{3}$(g) produced by roasting alunite and pyrolytic materials. In air, alunite was transfouned into KAl(SO$_{4})_{2}$ and Al$_{2}O_{3}$ by dehydration at 500~580$^{\circ}C$. The dehydration velocity of alunite was found to be kt=(1-(1-${\alpha})^{1/3})^{2}$, the activation energy, 73.01 kcal/mol. SO$_{3}$(g) ware slowly produced by the thermal decomposition of KAl(SO$_{2})_{2}$, at 580~700$^{\circ}C$, rapidly, at 700~780$^{\circ}C$, The pyrolysis velocity of KAl(SO$_{4})_{2}$ was found to be kt=1-(1-${\alpha})^{1/1}$; activation energy, 66.84kcal/mol. The SiO$_{2}$ and kaolinite in alunite ore scarcely affected the temperature and velocity in which SO$_{3}$(g) were produced.
In this study, for stemming effect in blast of the mortar block body, the crushed granite sand as fine aggregate, which is waste rock obtained at the ○○ limestone mine, was investigated to compare with stemming materials such as sea sand, river sand, clayed soil and water can be acquired easily at the field. The mortar block body was manufactured with the dimensions of 50 cm width, 50 cm length and 70 cm height. The direct shear and sieve separator test were performed, and the properties of friction resistance were analyzed by the extrusion test for five stemming materials. Axial strain of steel bar and ejection velocity of stemming materials due to the explosive shock pressure in blasthole with the stemming length of 10 cm and 20 cm in the mortar blast test were measured by the dynamic data acquisition system. Among stemming materials, axial strain showed the largest value at the crushed granite sand as fine aggregate, and the ejection velocity was the smallest value at the stemming of water. The results has shown correlate with harden unit weight in blasthole, particle size distribution, shear resistance, and extrusion strength of stemming materials. The ejection velocity of stemming material at the mouth of blasthole and the axial strain of steel bar in the inside of blasthole tend to be inversely proportional to each other, represent exponentially.
The granitic plutons associated with Ogcheon geosynclinal zone can be grouped into three different subzones; SE-Subzone for the migmatitic and schistose granites of the southeast margin, 101-181m.y. old; NW-Subzone for those of the northwest margin, 112-163m. y. old; and C-Subzone for those of central part of the zone, 63-183m.y. old. The intrusives in C-Subzone are further subdivided into the older, adamellite to granodiorite (148-183m.y. old) and the younger, perthitic granites (63-106m,y. old). The metallogenic distribution of South Korea suggests that, in the Ogcheon Zone, it is possible to delineate an elongated polymetallogenic province in the general orientation of the zone intimately related with the migmatite and plutonic zones mentioned. Moreover, the mineralization in the province was basically controlled by the patterns of local geology involving country rocks and related igneous bodies, that permit subdivision of the province into the following three parts: Northeast (NE) Province consists dominantly of thick Paleozoic calcareous sediments; Middle (M) Province is characterized by predominant argillaceous and partly calcareous sediments of Precambrian to Late Paleozoic age; and Southwest (SW) Province consisting mainly of volcanic and arenaceous sediments of Mesozoic age. The three different plutonic zones with three different country rock provinces above mentioned make a combination which consists of nine classes. Each class can be assumed to be characterized by specific mineralization type. In order to classify the mineralization types, the present study sampled twenty six ore deposits and mineralized areas in Ogcheon zone as shown figure 2; eight ore deposits from plutonic SE-Subzone, ten from the plutonic NE-Subzone and eight from the plutonic C-Subzone. The characteristics of the classes are as follows: NE-SE is predominant in Au-Ag vein and Sn-migmatite of katazonal occurrence; NE-C is most productive in Pb-Zn and remarkable in Fe contact deposit in mesozone and partly Pb-Zn-Cu skarn in limestone and subordinate in mesozone and partly Pb-Zn pipes; M-SE is considerable in Au-Ag vein and rare elements (Nb, Ta, etc.) of pegmatite; M-C is predominant in F-veins in epizone and Mo-W, Fe, Cu veins occur in replacement type; M-NW is productive in Fe metamorphic and skarn types, partly remarkable in Cu, Pb-Zn contact; SW-SE is barren in mineralization related to Jurassic igneous rocks; SW-C is predominant in alunite and pyrophyllite in tuffs; and SW-NW is scarece in Pb-Zn, Cu, As and Au-Ag veins.
Gemorphological and photogeological techniqes are applied to the problem of geological mapping of a semi-arid area, Albudeite, Southeastern Spain. As a result of this, a geological and surface materials map is made which shows the upper Miocene formation, which mainly consists of marl, limestone and sandstone, is further subdivided into three members, i. e. lower, middle and upper, and the post-Miocene deposits were differentiated into seven stratigraphic units, and mapped. The relationships between geology, landforms and land comlexes previously reognized have been reviewed. The methods adopted have proved to be valuable in interpreting and mapping a compex relationship in which highly variable bedrock outcrops and shallow surface materiales produced under sub-aerial conditios.
Copper-zinc-bearing skarns of the Kasihan area developed at limestone layers in the sedimentary facies of the Late Oligocene Arjosari Formation. The skarns consist mainly of fine-grained, massive clinopyroxene-garnet, garnet, garnet-epidote, and epidote skarns. Most copper and zinc(-lead) ore mineralization occur in the clinopyroxene-garnet and garnetepidote skarn, respectively. Clinopyroxene occurs as a continuous solid solution of diopside and hedenbergite (from nearly pure diopside up to ${\approx}34$ mole percent hedenbergite), with a maximum 28.2 mole percent johannsenite component. The early and late pyroxenes of Kasihan skarns are diopsidic and salitic, respectively. They fall in the fields typical Cu- and Zn-dominated skarns, respectively. Garnet displays a relatively wide range of solid solution between grossular and andradite with up to ${\approx}2.0$ weight percent MnO. Garnet in early pyroxene-garnet skarn ranges from 49.1 to 91.5 mole percent grossular (mainly ${\geq}78$ mole % grossular). Garnets in late garnet and garnet-epidote skarns range from 2.8 to 91.4 mole percent grossular (mainly ${\geq}70$ mole % for garnet skarn). Epidote compositions indicate solid solutions of clinozoisite and pistacite varying from 65.8 to 76.2 mole percent clinozoisite. Phase equilibria indicate that skarn evolution was the result of interaction of water-rich fluids ($X_{CO_2}{\leq}0.1$) with original lithologies at ${\approx}0.5$ kb with declining temperature (early clinopyroxene-garnet and garnet skarn, ${\approx}450$ to $370^{\circ}C$; late garnet-epidote and epidote skarn, ${\approx}370$ to $300^{\circ}C$).

In order to support effective usage of groundwater as an alternative water resource in future, we investigated distribution characteristics of minerals related with human health. While recent studies tended to focus on small scale, this study broadened research area up to nationwide scale to understand groundwater hydrology and regional, geological distributions of minerals in wide area; we investigated mineral distributions of national groundwater monitoring networks, developed GIS-based mineral maps, and reviewed correlation with geological features. As a result, calcium showed the highest concentration among 5 minerals (Ca, Mg, Na, K, Si) and potassium showed the lowest. Calcium concentration in limestone and sedimentary zone was the highest, and that in pore-volcanic-rock zone was the lowest. While calcium, magnesium and sodium showed differences in concentrations in intrusive-igneous-rock and sedimentary zone, potassium was not within geological features. When we studied regional differences, there were no tendency, but Jeju and Gangwon area showed differences in concentrations of calcium and silica.
