LED module for a desk lamp (탁상 스탠드용 LED모듈)

  • This paper describes an LED module for a desk lamp using 1[W] high flux while LEDs. The optimum length of the module is obtained from the lighting simulation of the target area of $500{\times}500[mm]$ on the desk, which in turn determines an optimum separation between LEDs. The main issue is to find the optimum separation which gives good illuminance uniformity and high coefficient of utilization at at various reflector structures. Two module configuations of linear and ring types are compared. As a result, good illuminance uniformity is obtained in the case of the ring module. The mofied twin type, however, gives better performance than the ring module, and shows the most performance at an separation angle of around $30^{\circ}$.

  • 3 phase 4-wire system has been widely used in the customer's application due to merit of 1 bank construction of loads such as 1-phase lighting, heat and 3-phase motor. But if the load distribution is not uniformed by the operation conditions, voltage unbalance is highly appeared by the difference of each phase current value. Especially, if the linear load such as resistance or inductive load has different power factor value, voltage unbalance factor is not the same due to the phase angle and magnitude of each phase voltage. In this paper, we composed the measurement device and analyzed by varying of load pattern.

A Study on Detection and Recognition of Facial Area Using Linear Discriminant Analysis

  • We propose a more stable robust recognition algorithm which detects faces reliably even in cases where there are changes in lighting and angle of view, as well it satisfies efficiency in calculation and detection performance. We propose detects the face area alone after normalization through pre-processing and obtains a feature vector using (PCA). The feature vector is applied to LDA and using Euclidean distance of intra-class variance and inter class variance in the 2nd dimension, the final analysis and matching is performed. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a wider distribution when the input image is rotated $45^{\circ}$ left / right. We can improve the recognition rate by applying this feature value to a single algorithm and complex algorithm, and it is possible to recognize in real time because it does not require much calculation amount due to dimensional reduction.

  • 최근 에너지 소비가 급증함에 따라 오피스 건물에 주광을 유입하여 조명에너지를 절감하는 연구가 진행중이다. 그러나 직접적인 주광유입은 작업환경의 조도분포를 불균일하게 만들어 빛의 품질을 떨어 뜨리고 업무효율을 저하시킨다. 이에 본 논문은 창측에 주광을 조절할 수 있는 베네시안 블라인드를 설치하여 블라인드의 슬랫 각도(Open, $-60^{\circ}$, $-30^{\circ}$, $0^{\circ}$, $+30^{\circ}$, $+60^{\circ}$)에 따라 실내로 유입되는 주광의 조도 및 균제도를 비교 분석하고, 작업환경의 조도분포가 가장 균일한 슬랫 각도로 블라인드를 제어한다. 이때 블라인드의 슬랫 각도별로 목표조도에 부합하기 위해 LED가 소모하는 누적 전력량을 산출한다. 슬랫 각도별로 산출된 균제도, 전력량을 기준으로 성능평가를 실시하여 성능이 우수한 슬랫 각도를 확인한다.

  • Projector-based visual systems are widely used for VR and experience display applications. But the illumination irregularity on the screen surface due to the screen material and its light reflection properties sometimes deteriorates the user experience. This phenomenon is particularly troublesome when the participants of the head tracking VR system such as CAVE or the motion generation experience system continually move around the system. One of reason to illumination irregularity is projector-screen specular reflection component to participant's eye's position and it's analysis needs high computation complexity. Similar to calculate specular lighting term using GPU's programmable shader, Our research adjusts every pixel's brightness in runtime with given 3D screen space model to reduce illumination irregularity. For doing that, Angle-based brightness compensate function are considered for specific screen installation and modified it for GPU-friendly compute and access. Two aspects are implemented, One is function access transformation from angular form to product and the other is piecewise linear interpolate approximation.

A Study on the Remote Control for Exit Sign Using High Efficiency LED (고효율 LED를 이용한 유도등의 원격제어에 관한 연구)

  • In the normally, exit sign is always lighting on status by the connected to normal electrical source. So, there are happened to rise of the economical cost such as power consumption, maintenances and repair replacement of lamp etc. This paper are study on the new exit sign circuits by using high efficiency LED that is available for remote control and reduceible to power consumption, maintenance cost by the way of compensation fluorescent and incandescent lamps. As a results on the study, exit sign lamp is capable of control and supervisory in trigger angle by the remote control switch, widely and easily. And then, the response time was very fast in 600〔$\mu$s〕and also it can be find that the rising and fall time of oscillate circuit is maximum 200〔ns〕 as high sensitively. Finally, it obtain to the result that reducible of electrical power consumption and not required for replacement of lamp by using the high efficiency LED lighting source.

Study of a Ray-Tracing Method for Optimized Road Light Design

  • A study is presented of improved road light design for drivers and pedestrians with the use of a ray- or reverse ray-tracing method. Many existing road lights are unsuitable for drivers and pedestrians because of serious problems such as glare effect or randomicity of illuminated areas. This situation has arisen because in customary design methods the emphasis has been on simple factors such as luminance or electrical power. However a high luminance or electrical power consumption, alone, do not guarantee bright and good road lighting. So we have applied a ray-tracing method to the design of a road light reflector with the goals of ensuring that illuminated objects on the road can be seen more clearly and that the illuminating light is more comfortable for the eyes of drivers and pedestrians. We have set design targets for factors such as the uniformity of lighting on the road area per road light, the shading angles and the continuous luminance uniformity on long lengths of road. For set heights of the eyes of drivers and pedestrians eyes we have calculated a design guideline for the achievement of the above design targets. Then we designed a road light reflector using the reverse ray-tracing approach. Also we have achieved the same luminance on the road with almost half the power consumption, through the reduction of lighty loss. In an ideal design optimum parameters are suggested to be a shading angle of 75 degrees and a luminance uniformity of 0.5 on the road area. This reflector performance is achievable with a 250 watt power consumption ceramic discharge metal light source.

Research on Robust Face Recognition against Lighting Variation using CNN (CNN을 적용한 조명변화에 강인한 얼굴인식 연구)

  • Face recognition technology has been studied for decades and is being used in various areas such as security, entertainment, and mobile services. The main problem with face recognition technology is that the recognition rate is significantly reduced depending on the environmental factors such as brightness, illumination angle, and image rotation. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a robust face recognition against lighting variation using CNN which has been recently re-evaluated with the development of computer hardware and algorithms capable of processing a large amount of computation. For performance verification, PCA, LBP, and DCT algorithms were compared with the conventional face recognition algorithms. The recognition was improved by 9.82%, 11.6%, and 4.54%, respectively. Also, the recognition improvement of 5.24% was recorded in the comparison of the face recognition research result using the existing neural network, and the final recognition rate was 99.25%.

  • In this paper, we study a method of designing a reflector for LED light sources with an asymmetric light distribution. In a sports game, lighting with a symmetric distribution makes the athlete and spectators look directly at the light source, so it can cause glare. We derive the optimal tilt angle and design a reflector with asymmetric light distribution to solve these problems. Afterward, performance is analyzed according to the tennis-court lighting standard, and is confirmed to meet the class 1 European standard.

  • This study introduces an innovative approach to monitor the whereabouts of workers within indoor construction settings. While traditional modalities such as GPS and NTRIP have demonstrated efficacy for outdoor localizations, their precision dwindles in indoor environments. In response, this research advocates for the adoption of Aruco markers. Leveraging computer vision technology, these markers facilitate the quantification of the distance between a worker and the marker, subsequently pinpointing the worker's instantaneous location with heightened accuracy. The methodology's efficacy was rigorously evaluated in a real-world construction scenario. Parameters including system stability, the influence of lighting conditions, the extremity of measurable distances, and the breadth of recognition angles were methodically appraised. System stability was ascertained by maneuvering the camera at a uniform velocity, gauging its marker recognition prowess. The impact of varying luminosity on marker discernibility was scrutinized by modulating the ambient lighting. Furthermore, the camera's spatial movement ascertained both the upper threshold of distance until marker recognition waned and the maximal angle at which markers remained discernible.
