This paper presents irradiance distribution model of light radiated from a step-index multimode optical fiber. The model is important in analysis of displacement response characteristics for intensity modulation type optical fiber sensors. The induced model was verified by experimental results. And the displacement response analysis result induced by using the irradiance distribution model was verified by experimental results and compared with using existing irradiance distribution models such as the constant model or the gaussian model. The experiment has better agreement with the analysis result using the induced model in this study than with the others models.

The purpose of this study is to find the light intensity which induced maximum gathering rate and to observe the variation of the gathering rate both in daytime and at night by suing Rudder fish, Girella punctata(Gray). An experimental tank(360L*50W*55H cm) was set up in a dark room. An illumination system was attached to the end of one side of the tank to control horizontal light intensity. Eight artificial light sources were prepared by combination of three light bulbs(10W, 60W, 100W) and eight filters. During the experiment water depth was maintained 50cm level in the tank. The tank was marked into six longitudinal sections each being 60cm long to observe the distribution of fish. The fish were acclimatized in dark condition for 50 minutes prior to the main experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 60 times every 30 seconds, and the gathering rate was obtained from the average number of fish in each section. The light intensity inducing maximum gathering rate was 2.98 lux(1.90-4.40 lux) at daytime and 298.56 lux(188.44-444.96 lux) at night. The variation of the gathering rate of fish in illumination time was great and irregularly fluctuated, but did not show any definite pattern. It was somewhat difference between daytime and night.
The purpose of this study is to find the light intensity which induces maximum gathering rate and to observe the variation of the gathering rate both in daytime and at night by using marbled sole, Limanda yokohamae (Gunther). An experimental tank ($360L{\times}50W{\times}55H\;cm$) was set up in a dark room. An illumination system was attached to the end of one side of the tank to control horizontal light intensity. Six artificial light sources were prepared by combination of two light bulbs (5W, 150W) and seven filters. During the experiment water depth was maintained 50 cm level in the tank. The tank was marked into six longitudinal sections each being 60 cm long to observe the distribution of fish. The fish were acclimatized in dark condition for 50 minutes prior to the main experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times every 30 seconds, and the gathering rate was obtained from the average number of fish in each section. The light intensity inducing maximum gathering rate was 1.9 lux ($1.2{\sim}2.9\;lux$) in the daytime and 0.7 lux ($0.5{\sim}1.1\;lux$) at night. The variation of the gathering rate of fish in illumination time was small and comparatively fluctuated with stability.

This paper had analyzed property of LED chip which has appropriate distribution and had designed modeling in order to experiment optical property of LED module through simulation. also throughout error value between street light and simulation data, precisive simulation could be inferred. as a consequent, transformation of optical property had henceforth verified the first value of module array.
A plane-parallel model of the diffuse Galactic light (DGL) is calculated assuming exponential disks of interstellar dust and OB stars, by solving exactly the radiative transfer equation using an iterative method. We perform a radiative transfer calculation for a model with generally accepted scale heights of stellar and dust distribution and compare the results with those of van de Hulst & de Jong for a constant slab model. We also find that the intensity extrapolated to zero dust optical depth has a negative value, against to the usual expectation.
The influenced of light intensity, cell density, and light pathlength on photosynthetic activity of Chlorella vulgaris were investigated. Since the light respon curve varied according to reaction conditions, the parameters estimated from nonlinear regression were proved to be apparent and could not be applied to various situations. The light response model incorporating the light penetration through the microalgal suspension was developed based upon the spatial distribution of the photosynthetic activity. This model showed a good agreement with experimental data at different cell densities and light intensities. Using the model the effects of cell density and light pathlenth were simulated and some dicussions about optimization of operation conditions of photobioreactors were carried out. Concludingly, the developed model can be useful for predicting microalgal photosynthesis and for determining the optimal operating conditions.
We present the optical models and calculation results of thin-film organic solar cells (OSCs) at oblique incidence of light, using the transfer matrix method. The simple expression for the optical power dissipation is derived at oblique incidence for s- and p-polarized light. The spatial distribution of the electric field intensity, the optical power density, and the optical power dissipation are calculated in both s- and p-polarized light with respect to the incidence angle. We identify how the light absorption efficiency for p-polarized light becomes relatively larger than that for s-polarized light as the incidence angle increases.

High intensity metal halide discharge lamp performance, specifically the generated luminous flux and light color content, depends critically on the arc tube design. Factors influencing the design and consequent lamp efficacy include : lamp size, geometry, arc tube composition, fill chemistry, electrode design and excitation modes. Shaping of Polycrystalline Alumina(PCA) can be realized by conventional ceramic processes. Several processes are applied nowadays. Well-known in the ceramic high pressure field for decades are the pressing and the extrusion method. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the one-body seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance. Now, we reported some optical properties with different arc tube structures of ceramic metal halide lamps.
The distribution of volume fraction, mean diameter and number density of soot particles are measured quantitatively in a co-flow ethylene diffusion flame using a simultaneous LII/LIS measurement technique. The LII/LIS system and the measured values are, respectively, calibrated and evaluated by comparing to the informations obtained from laser light. extinction/scattering experiments, LII signal shows some sensitivity to the laser light intensity when laser power density exceeds a certain value(threshold). It is also found that there is an optimal laser intensity and a delay time in order to obtain the best result using the simultaneous LII/LIS measurement technique.
Algal vegetation in the subtidal zone between a small rock output and the Juckdo Island, eastern coast of Korea was investigated at several selected sites. The objectives of the survey were to descirbe the poorly known macroalgae community in this area and correlate the pattern of distribution as well as the change of zonatin with the environmental conditions. The water movement, light intensity and theinclinatin of substrate are considered as the environmental parameters. The upper and mid subtidal zones in sheltered area with less steep rocky surface are dominated by large brown algae Srgassum confusum; in the exposed area are characterised by species of Costaria costata. In the lower subtidal zone, the difference of vegetaton between the sheltered and the exposed areas is not recognized. At this depth the light intensity is an important ecological factor. Six narrow algal zones occur in the sheltered area, whereas two broad belts occur in the exposed area. the biomass value is 4 times greater in the sheltered area than in the exposed area.
