Design and Application of Self-Lifting & Slewing Multi-Cranes Platform

  • Tower crane is of great importance in the construction of high rise buildings. A self-lifting & slewing multi-cranes platform (referred to as crane slewing platform) was developed to optimize the configuration of tower cranes, as well as solve the problems of cooperative operation conflict between multiple cranes and other construction equipment and their respective climbing and occupying of construction period. The design and test of the slewing platform was introduced. By applying the slewing platform in the construction of Chengdu Greenland Center super high rise building project, some key technologies such as the configuration of cranes, the installation, construction and lifting of the slewing platform are implemented and validated. Up to now, the slewing platform has been safely lifted up 98 times in Chengdu Greenland Center project construction, and achieved good social and economic benefits.

Development of a Lifting Utility with Balance-controlled Platform (작업대 수평유지식 과수원 고소작업차 개발)

  • Facing the current hikes of labor wage and high oil price, it is needed to have energy-saving machinery which also enables us precise farm operations. Thus, it was necessary to develop a safe machine which allows secure and pleasant works along orchard slopes. In this study, a lifting utility with balance-controlled platform was developed. The platform utility could maintain to level the workbench while driving along slopes. Even the machine body was driven at the tilt angle ranges of ${\pm}20^{\circ}$, the platform bench could be maintained within ${\pm}0.5^{\circ}$ of a gimbal angle. In addition, the machine lifted up to 2.0 m using an electric-hybrid driving mechanism with a low noise. A tandem hybrid power source was developed with a DC 72 V, 100 AH for the Deep-Cycle batteries, charged with 3.5 kW gasoline generator as an auxiliary power source. HST, which is one of the CVT's, was adopted as a transmission device, and a crawer track was used for the safety of the vehicle against tip-over. The maximum lifting height of platform was is 2,500 mm, and the maximum extendable width was 2,900 mm.

Practical investigation of a monopod fabrication method and the numerical investigation of its up-righting process

  • The principal purpose of this paper is to present a novel two phases rational scenario applied in constructing an offshore monopod platform; in which the two phases are the all-ground horizontal construction phase and the post-construction phase. Concerning the all-ground construction phase, a brief investigation of its different stages, i.e., pre-fabrication, fabrication, pre-assembling, positioning, assembling, and surface finishing is introduced. The important practical aspects of such construction phase are investigated without going into the nitty-gritty of the details involved therein. Concerning the post-construction phase, a clear investigation of its sequential stages, i.e., lifting, moving and up-righting is introduced. A finite element model (FEM) of the monopod platform is created to perform the structural analysis necessary to decide the suspension points/devices and the handling scenario during the various stages of the post-construction phase on a rational wise. Such structural analysis is performed within the framework of the three dimensional quasi-static modeling and analysis aiming at simulating the realistic handling condition, and hence introducing a reliable physical interpretation of the numerical results. For the whole effort to be demonstrated efficiently, the results obtained are analyzed, the conclusions are presented, and few related recommendations are suggested.

  • Even manual materials handling tasks(MMHT) is decreasing by adopt of automatic manufacturing system & transportation supporting machine because of increase of productivity, wage lack of labor, safety, in fact working at inclined & complicated slope such as farm, orchard, harbor loading & unloading, logging place and mining place can't be substituted by machine perfectly. So, workers should do MMHT at this place by themselves, lifting on slope can cause much of hazard, include falling. Keeping balance net to slip can be a reason of low back pain(LBP) by overloaded musculoskeletal system but, there's no enough study about lift on slope. Therefore, In this study, we assessed and analyzed change of center of pressure(COP) when lifting on slope by force platform. The result showed that the length lengthen as increasing angle of slope. Especially, the length extremely increased over 15°. Through These basic result, present proper angle boundary, prevent industrial accidents and give proper data not only lifting but also pushing and pulling on slope someday.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in centers-of-gravity (COG), acceleration and body posture and their associated effects both on EMG and on the maximum capability of weight lifting during Clean & Jerk and Snatch motions. Displacement, velocity, acceleration of joints were obtained from film analysis. Also levels of exertions on 11 major muscle groups were obtained from EMG analysis during a lifting cycle. The EMG data were measured from Telemetry System which is useful in field experiments. Magnitude and direction of force, change in center-of-gravity were extracted from COG data which were measured from force platform. The results of this study can be to be useful both to coaches and to athletes in weight-lifting.

  • The Wavelet Transform has been applied in mathematics and computer sciences. Numerous studies have proven its advantages in image processing and data compression, and have made it a basic encoding technique in data compression standards like JPEG2000 and MPEG-4. Software implementations of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) appears to be the performance bottleneck in real-time systems in terms of performance. And hardware implementations are not flexible. Therefore, FPGA implementations of the DWT has been a topic of recent research. The goal of this thesis is to investigate of FPGA implementations of the DWT Processor for image compression applications.   • This paper presents a novel concept of cargo handling system adapted for a sea port subjected to severe time-varying tide. The proposed system can perform loading or unloading by using a sort of hydraulic elevator associated with real-time position control. In order to achieve a proof-of-concept, a small-sized laboratory model of the cargo handling system is designed and built. The model consists of three principal components container palette transfer (CPT) car, platform with lifting columns, and cargo ship. The platform activated by electro-rheological (ER) valve-cylinders is actively controlled to track the position of the cargo ship subjected to be varied due to the time-varying tide and wave motion. Following the derivation of the dynamic model for the platform and cargo ship motions, an appropriate control scheme is formulated and implemented. The location of the CPT car is sensed by a set of photoelectric switches and controlled via sequence controller. On the other hand, a sliding mode controller (SMC) is adopted as the position controller for the platform. Both simulated and measured control results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed cargo system.

  • Western coastal ports of Korea experience severe tidal range with up to 9.7 meter between high and low tides. The significant water level variation implicates many operational difficulties during loading and un-loading from cargo ships. To overcome problems due to tide and to secure the continuous loading operation, a new loading system for container cargo called "container pallet system" is developed and introduced in the paper. Three types of structure forms, offshore structural deck, double bottom structural form and the mixed form, are inverstigated with MSC/NASTRAN software. The results prove that the mixed type structure with truss enforcement is found to be the most appropriate for the region.

Experimental Studies on the Motion and Discharge Behavior of Free Conducting Wire Particle in DC GIL

  • This study aims to restrain free conducting wire-type particles which are commonly and dangerously existing within DC gas-insulated transmission lines. A realistic platform of a coaxial cylindrical electrode was established by using a high-speed camera and a partial discharge (PD) monitor to observe the motion, PD, and breakdown of these particles. The probabilities of standing or bouncing, which can be affected by the length of the particles, were also quantitatively examined. The corona images of the particles were recorded, and particle-triggered PD signals were monitored and extracted. Breakdown images were also obtained. The air-gap breakdown with the particles was subjected to mechanism analysis on the basis of stream theory. Results reveal that the lifting voltage of the wire particles is almost irrelevant to their length but is proportional to the square root of their radius. Short particles correspond to high bouncing probability. The intensity and frequency of PD and the micro-discharge gap increase as the length of the particles increases. The breakdown voltage decreases as the length of the particles decreases.
