도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템 설계 및 경제성평가 (Scenario-based Design and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of Energy Supply System for Transportation Sector)

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템을 구축하고 각 시나리오의 최적 비용을 비교분석하였다. 에너지 공급 시스템의 구성요소로써 기존의 정유공정, 부생수소 시스템, 신재생 에너지 자원 기반의 전력 생산공정, 전력운송을 위한 전력망을 설정하였으며, 내연기관자동차, 전기자동차, 연료전지자동차 등 세 가지의 도로운송부문용 자동차를 포함하였다. 이러한 구성요소를 포함한 다양한 에너지 공급 시스템 시나리오를 기반으로 최적 생애주기비용을 규명할 수 있는 에너지 시스템 평가모델을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 최적화 모델을 제주도 지역에 적용함으로써 모델의 성능을 검증하였고 또한 제주도 지역의 에너지 시스템 구축에 관한 다양한 시나리오의 경제성을 분석하였다. 제주도 도로운송부문용 에너지 공급 시스템의 생애주기비용 분석 결과, 전력망을 이용하여 전기를 공급하는 전기자동차 시나리오가 상대적으로 가장 높은 경제성을 보였으며, 신재생 에너지 자원을 이용하여 수소를 공급하는 연료전지자동차 시나리오가 가장 낮은 경제성을 보였다. 또한 연료비용, 차량비용, 인프라비용, 유지비용 등 주요 비용 관련 변수들에 관한 민감도분석을 수행함으로써 생애주기비용의 변화에 주요한 구성요소들을 규명하였다.

Status of Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): Case study of South Korea

  • The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as an environmental impact assessment tool has received increasing attention over the years. Unlike the water footprint (WF) and carbon footprint (CF) assessments whose focus is only on a single environmental aspect, the LCA systematically analyzes the different impacts along the entire life cycle, making possible the identification of potential environmental tradeoffs. In Korea, LCA has drawn much attention from both industry and academia since the mid-90s. However, the level of Korea-related LCA studies with respect to different sectors in the past 20 years has not been analyzed. This study, therefore, sought to assess the status of environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies in Korea, with a view to understanding the current level of sustainability reporting and identify potential research gaps. Online searches of English written articles published between 2000 and 2019 were conducted on Google, Google scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using the Keywords "life cycle assessment", "lca", and "Korea." At the end of the search, about 88 LCA related studies were identified for Korea within the study period. Majority of these studies focused on the construction (49%) and energy (31%) sectors with fewer environmental studies on the transportation (9%), manufacturing (8%), agriculture (2%), and information and communication (1%) industries. Based on publication trend, results show that LCA studies in Korea have been on the rise in the past 20 years, even though the number of publications has not followed a constant pace. In comparison with the economic sectors of the country, reports show an inadequacy in the coverage of major industries of growing economic relevance like the tourism, health, and agriculture, suggesting a need to further increase and improve LCA related studies in these sectors.

교량의 생애주기비용 최적설계 (Optimal Life Cycle Cost Design of a Bridge)

  • 최근 들어 교량과 같은 구조물에 대한 생애주기비용(Life Cycle Cost, LCC) 분석의 중요성이 점차 커지고 있다. 그러나 교량의 공용수명 동안 발생할 수 있는 생애주기비용은 설계 및 시공조건 그리고 사용환경에 따라 많은 불확실성을 내포하고 있기 때문에 정확히 예측하기 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 교량의 생애주기비용 최적설계를 위한 설계방법을 제시하였다. 교량의 총생애주기비용은 초기비용, 손상비용 유지관리비용, 보수/보강비용, 사용자비용, 해제/폐기비용의 합으로 산정하였다. 생애주기비용을 목적함수로 하고 도로교설계기준을 제약조건으로 최적화를 수행하였다. 초기비용은 종합불가정보 및 참고자료를 근거로 산출하였으며, 하중 및 부재에 대한 불확실성을 고려하기 위해 손상확률의 개념을 도입하여 손상비용을 산출하였다. 교량의 내하율곡선을 이용하여 교량의 보수/보강 비용을 추정하였으며, 차량운행비용과 시간지연비용으로부터 사용자비용을 산정하였다. 이로부터 교량에 대한 생애주기비용 최적설계를 수행하고 주요인자들에 대한 영향을 살펴보았다.

  • LNG 선박용 성형 벨로우즈의 성형방법에 따른 특성을 파악하기 위하여 정적시험과 저주기 피로시험을 실시하였다. 벨로우즈의 규정된 수명 사이클인 8,000회를 실시하여 시험전후의 벨로우즈의 각 산에 걸리는 변형률과 응력을 측정하여 성형방법에 따른 벨로우즈간의 차이를 분석하고 산 별 응력분포를 살펴보았다. 본 저주기 피로시험은 x-y방향의 변위가 가능한 유압시스템의 구조시험장비에 성형 벨로우즈를 장착하고 벨로우즈의 각 산에는 스트레인게이지를 장착하고 멀티레코더를 통하여 데이터를 처리하였다. 이를 통하여 벨로우즈가 성형방법에 따른 수명의 차이가 있는지 살펴보았고, 성형방법에 따른 수명의 차이를 주는 원인을 분석하였다.

Optimal Target Reliability of Bridges Based on Minimum Life-Cycle Cost Consideration

  • Cost-effectiveness in design is considered for determining the target reliability of concrete bridges under seismic actions. This objective can be achieved based on the economic optimization of the expected life-cycle cost of a bridge, which includes initial cost, direct losses, and indirect losses of a bridge due to strong earthquakes over its lifetime. A separating factor is defined to consider the redundancy of a transportation network. The Park-Ang damage model is employed to define the damage of a bridge under seismic action, and a Monte Carlo method based on the DRAIN-2DX program is developed to assess the failure probability of a bridge. The results for an example bridge analyzed in this paper show that the optimal target failure probability depends on the traffic volume carried by the bridge and is between 1.0×10/sup -3/ to 3.0×10/sup -3/ over a life of 50 years.

  • Electric vehicles that are currently in operation are being produced domestically. Therefore, there is no great difficulty in receiving or repairing the failed parts or in the overall repair. On the other hand, most of the electric locomotives are manufactured by introducing the parts and technology of foreign vehicle manufacturers. In this paper, conducted a study about life cycle cost analysis of developed auxiliary power unit in 8200 series electric locomotive and suggested cost down method. This confirms the economic benefits of the developed products of the auxiliary power supply compared to the existing products. In addition, a sensitivity analysis of MTBF was conducted to suggest a life cycle cost down method.

Minimum life-cycle cost design of ice-resistant offshore platforms

  • In China, the oil and natural gas resources of Bohai Bay are mainly marginal oil fields. It is necessary to build both ice-resistant and economical offshore platforms. However, risk is involved in the design, construction, utilization, maintenance of offshore platforms as uncertain events may occur within the life-cycle of a platform under the extreme ice load. In this study, the optimum design model of the expected life-cycle cost for ice-resistant platforms based on cost-effectiveness criterion is proposed. Multiple performance demands of the structure, facilities and crew members, associated with the failure assessment criteria and evaluation functions of costs of construction, consequences of structural failure modes including damage, revenue loss, death and injury as well as discounting cost over time are considered. An efficient approximate method of the global reliability analysis for the offshore platforms is provided, which converts the implicit nonlinear performance function in the conventional reliability analysis to linear explicit one. The proposed life-cycle optimum design formula are applied to a typical ice-resistant platform in Bohai Bay, and the results demonstrate that the life-cycle cost-effective optimum design model is more rational compared to the conventional design.

굴 패각을 이용한 간척지 배수재의 전과정 CO2 배출량 산정 및 국내 적용성 평가 (Life Cycle CO2 Assessment and Domestic Applicability Evaluation of the Drainage Material for Reclaimed Land Using Oyster Shell)

  • The objective of this study is to assess the environmental effect of the reclaimed land drainage method using oyster shell through the Life cycle $CO_2$ assessment, and to evaluate the applicability in South Korea. In this Study, the life cycle $CO_2$ emissions of oyster shell (OS) and crushed stone (CS, as avoided product) were assessed and compared. The Life Cycle Assessment method was used for quantitative evaluation of direct or indirect environmental effects of OS recycling. $CO_2$ was selected as the evaluation target material, and the scope of assessment includes the acquisition of materials, processing, transportation, construction phases. Compared to using CS, 77.0% of $CO_2$ emissions in acquisition and processing, 47.0% in transportation and 6.5% in construction phase were reduced, respectively by using of OS. The maximum transportation distance of OS was estimated according to transportation distance of CS. OS has environmental advantages than CS within about 26 - 101 km from the source. OS was found to be applicable to reclaimed lands up to 810 ha, 3,910 ha from Tongyeong and Yeosu, respectively. In addition, the amount of OS that could be used as drainage material for reclaimed land was much higher than annual OS production of South Korea. Therefore, it is considered that OS is sufficient to be used as drainage material for reclaimed land in South Korea.

바닥판과 주형의 유지보수 이력을 고려한 LCC 최적설계 (Life Cycle Cost Optimization Considering Maintenance History of Bridge Beck and Girders)

  • The optimal design was performed for the bridge superstructure composed of steel box girders and concrete deck considering life cycle cost. The service life of the superstructure was estimated, after load carry capacity curves for steel girder and concrete deck were derived on the basis of condition grade curves and maintenance histories. The object function was determined as life cycle cost, including initial cost, total maintenance cost, disposal cost and user cost, for a period of the estimated service life. The optimal design of the superstructure was performed for the various service lifes. The annual costs were used to compare calculated results and to get the most economical design. Also this paper presents reasonable idea for the use of user cost with uncertainty.

화력발전소 증기터빈용 12Cr 강의 저주기 피로거동 (Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior of 12Cr Steel for Thermal Power Plant Steam Turbine)

  • In this study low cycle fatigue (LCF) behavior of 12Cr steel at high temperature are described. Secondly, comparisons between predicted lives and experimental lives are made for the several sample life prediction models. Two minute hold period in either tension or compression reduce the number of cycles to failure by about a factor of two. Twenty minute hold periods in compression lead to shorter lives than 2 minute hold periods in compression. Experiments showed that life predictions from classical phenomenological models have limitations. More LCF experiments should be pursued to gain understanding of the physical damage mechanisms and to allow the development of physically-based models which can enhance the accuracy of the predictions of components. From a design point-of-view, life prediction has been judged acceptable for these particular loading conditions but extrapolations to thermo-mechanical fatigue loading, for example, require more sophisticated models including physical damage mechanisms.
