The purpose of this research was to investigate the influential factors to wear or not to wear \"Hanbok\" in Korean society. Twenty six individuals who wear Hanbok relatively often, and twenty seven individuals who dont were purposively sampled and interviewed for the study by structured depth-interview method. A domain analysis, a method of qualitative study, was employed to find out the influential factors from the results of the depth-intervews. From the analysis, fifteen encouraging or discouraging factors to wear Hanbok emerged and were categorized into five domains, which included \"interpersonal relationship\", \"life-style\", \"image\", \"practicality\" and \"decorative function\". The personal involvement in traditional culture, tradition-oriented family background, good images related to Hanbok, and affordable life-style appeared to be encouraging factors to wear Hanbok. Meanwhile, social norm and role-expectation adjusted to westernized criteria, unaffordable life-style, ill practicality of Hanbok and negative cues associated with Hanbok were the factors influencing people to turn away from Hanbok. The study also revealed complex interactions between these factors explaining individuals choice of wearing or not wearing Hanbok in industrialized modern society of Korea. Some suggestions to promote wearing Hanbok were made based oh the results of this study.wearing Hanbok were made based oh the results of this study.
This study investigates the impact of International Monetary Fund(IMF) Age on the household behavior of food consumption and analysis the related factors(demographic variables, family life style) to find out the reasonable consumer's consciousness and food market conditions. The results are as follows. 1. General life style and food life style, considered as family life style, were classified into 7 types and 9 types respectively as family life style by factor analysis. 2. The rationality of using and disposing stage on food life has increased, the rationality of the planning stage on food life has decreased since the IMF age began. But the rationality of overall food consumption has hardly changed. 3. The amount of purchasing was decreased, discount store was favorite place to buy food, and safety and freshness were major determinants in purchasing for most of food items. But this was different with food items. The various information sources were used impartially to buy food, cash was used mainly, and the degree of using the discount ticket/coupon was a little low. 4. Income level is an influential factor on the rationality of the planning and purchasing stage on food life, while environment-oriented food life style has influenced on the rationality of using and disposing stage. The purchasing amount of grain products, meats, milk products, bread and snacks, drinks, alcoholic drinks, water and convenience goods has influenced by demographic variables, eating out had been influenced by general life styles, and fruits, healthy foods, processed foodstuffs, favorite foods, vegetables seaweeds, import foods and seafood had been mainly influenced by food life style since IMF age began.

Through literature, history of textile is considered and design image concept is created based on the consideration. In addition, the created concept can be applied to various textile design, which can be a good tool to express eating culture of the country as well as the country's image.

The purpose of the present study was to examine married female immigrants' life style and marriage satisfaction on the perception of preparing their old age. We also investigated how socio-demographic factors influence their Preparation for old age. For the study, -data were collected from 350 questionnaires obtained from female immigrants living in Chungcheongnam-do. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ tests were conducted for reliability, and regressional analysis was conducted to test our hypotheses. The results of this study shows that there is evidence of relations among the sub-variables. However, we found attitudes to safety and material pursuit are not related to married female immigrants' preparations for their old age. On the other hand, the results indicate that their life style and marriage satisfaction influences their perception of preparing their old age in a positive way. Finally, sociodemographic factors such as gender, age, education, marriage status, occupation and income are shown to affect the women's perception of preparing their old age positively.
The aims of this study are to imvestigate the changes seen in rural kitchens and the factors affecting the modernization of agrarian kitchen space in mountain areas, and to compare them with those in the plains. The major findings are as follows. 1) The kitchen space in mountain areas remained in the state of a combined style(depicting both western and traditional styles), while the kitchen space in the plains after the 1980s showed a tendency toward the western style. Generally speaking, the physical state of kitchens in mountain farmhouses, therefore, was at a low level in comparison with that of the plains. 2) The kitchen improvement projects of Sae-Ma-Eul Movement fostered a trend toward the western and combined style kitchens in the plains, but it did exert a little influence only on a part of the four mountain areas, and it resu]led in a combination of both styles. 3) Among the socio-demographic characteristics under consideratien. only the level of education achieved by the wi fe was found to be a determinant factor of the kitchen type in the mountain areas. but the level of education achieved by the husband and the family life cycle were two determinant factors in the plains. Under the category of family life style. the factors affecting the kitchen type in the mountain areas were cooking-heating fuel and the position of the refrigerator, while the main factors in p]ains were the place and the method of eating. cooking-heating fuel, the position of refrigerator, and numbers of family-memorials.

Purpose. This cross-sectional survey was conducted to describe the sexuality of Korean women after menopause using a national sample, and to examine relationships between the sexuality and demographic, body mass index, and life style factors including smoking, alcohol use, and physical activity. Method. From Dec. 20, 1998 to April 30, 1999, 2196 naturally postmenopausal women aged between 41 and 65 years were recruited by a disproportional stratified random sampling method from 7 metropolitans and 6 provinces in Korea. The questionnaire was used to obtain information on the demographic characteristics, life style factors, body mass index, and sexual activities. Result. The findings show that the frequency of intercourse after menopause decreased among most of postmenopausal Korean women (64.5%). The frequency of women reported their sexual activity as satisfactory was higher among women doing physical activity, not smoking, with higher educational status, with middle socioeconomic status, without sleep disturbance, with lower body mass index, and with good subjective health status. Conclusion. Further studies need to be designed as the longitudinal studies with larger random samples and better measures of sexuality.

The purpose of this study is to segment an infant's wear market on the base of housewife's fashion life-style for satisfaction of varied needs and high efficiency of marketing activity. This study was used 183 questionnaires (20∼30 generation housewife in Seoul) for statistical analysis. This study was used factor analysis and cluster analysis to group same respondents and frequency analysis, x2_analysis, ANOVA, duncan-test to analyze characteristics of demographics, clothing purchase pattern for each segmented group. The respondents were divided into 4 groups of differnt housewife's fashion life-style matte tons according to the results of analysis. The findings of the research on each groups are summarized as follows: 1) Subdividing market was classified such as a fashion-seeking/shoping-oriented group, personality-seeking group, practical/planning group, traditional conservative group. 2) According to characteristics of demographics in Subdividing market, there were significant difference in their school career, family monthly income, existence of job. 3) According to clothing purchase pattern in Subdividing market, there were significant difference in housewife's fashion life-style. But there were only partly significant difference in characteristics of demographics. In this study, housewife's fashion life-style segmentation in infant's wear market has purpose that marketing managers are given these infornations and various wants of consumers can be satisfied.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a correlation between the segmental bio-impedance measurement with the frequency modulations and the life-style disease of obesity. An obesity is not simply the factor for estimating the life-style disease of obesity, but also the risk factor occurring. There are many methods (BMI, WHR, Waist, CT, DEXA, BIA, etc.) for measuring a degree of obesity; the bio-impedance measurement is more economic and more effective than others. The physical examination, the blood test, the medical imaging diagnosis and the bio-impedancemeasurementswithmultiple frequencies for each body parts have been conducted for 77 people. The estimated value has been calculated through a segmental bio-impedance model based on multi-frequency that was created to reflect the highest correlation by analyzing correlation with linear regression analysis method for the measured bio-impedance and the risk factors. Then we compared with the clinical diagnosis. In case of high level cholesterol, low HDL-C and high LDL-C for life-style disease, the sensitivity is 80~100%and the specificity is 83~100%. This study has shown conclusively that bio-impedance can be a possible predictor to analyze the disease risk rate of population and individual health maintenance. And also the multi-frequency segmental bio-impedance can be used as early predictor to estimate the life-style disease of obesity.
This study examined the relations of educational level and life-style behaviors to the obesity. A total of 507 male adults aged 30 - 50 years completed the self-reported questionnaires. Educational level was used for measuring socioeconomic status. Activity at work, leisure-time activity and TV watching were measured for life-style behaviors related to physical activity, and some demographic and family history of disease as well. Subjects were categorized as obese when BMI was equal to or over 25kg/$m^2$, in which 19.7% resulted obesity. Using multivariate logistic regression, the association between the measured factors and obesity was assessed. The odds ratios (OR) for risk of obesity did not differ with either age or monthly income. Subjects who completed high school (OR = 0.36; 95% CI = 0.20 - 0.66) or university (OR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.16 - 0.71) had lower risk of obesity than those with education below middle school. Those with moderate activity level at work (OR = 0.41; 95% CI = 0.24 - 0.72) showed lower risk of obesity than in inactive ones. The subjects watching TV more than 3.5 hr/day presented higher risk of obesity (OR = 2.46; 95% CI = 1.28 - 4.74), compared with those watching TV less than 1.5 hr/day. The higher risk of obesity observed in high level of leisure time activity than in low one was considered due to that physical activity at work and leisure-time might counteract each other. Educational level and activity at work or leisure-time activity or TV watching were jointed and categorized, and then OR for obesity was estimated. The extent of obesity risk at a given level of each work activity or leisure-time activity or TV watching was different depending the educational level, which was significantly high when educational level was below middle school. Educational difference had no effect on activity level at work. However, higher educational attainment increased the leisure activity and reduced TV watching (p<0.05), indicating that low education tended to contribute to more sedentary life-style. The findings of this study is concluded that low education was related to obesity in adult males, and its relation can partly be explained through acquiring inactive life-style behaviors. Individuals with low education might be more susceptible to the risk factors of obesity.
