  • This paper proposes an approximate LCA methodology fur the conceptual design stage by grouping products according to their environmental characteristics and by mapping product attributes Into impact driver (ID) index. The relationship Is statistically verified by exploring the correlation between total impact indicator and energy impact category. Then an artificial neural network model is developed to predict an approximate LCA of grouping products in conceptual design stage. The training is generalized by using identified product attributes for an ID In a group as well as another product attributes for another IDs in other groups. The neural network model with back propagation algorithm is used and the results are compared with those of multiple regression analysis. The proposed approach does not replace the full LCA but it would give an approximate LCA results for design concepts.

반응표면분석에 의한 단감식초 제조조건의 모니터링 (Monitoring for the Fermentation Conditions of Sweet Persimmon Vinegar using Response Surface Methodology)

  • To utilize deteriorated sweet persimmon effectively, response surface methodology(RSM) was used to determine the optimal vinegar fermentation conditions and monitored by a divided two stage fermentation. The optimum conditions for maximum alcohol content were obtained when the first stage (alcohol fermentation) was carried out with an initial sugar concentration of 18.5$^{\circ}$Brix, agitation rate of 140.8 rpm, fermentation time of 127.6 hr. When sugar concentration was 14$^{\circ}$Brix maximum alcohol content(7.1%) was predicted at fermentation conditions of 160 rpm in agitation rate, 140hr in fermentation time. The optimum conditions for maximum acidity were obtaiend when second stage(vinegar fermentation)was carried out 249.5 rpm in agitation rate, 148.8 hr in fermentation time. Predicted values at the optimum conditions were similar to experimental values.

  • The changes in the activities of Cellulase and Xylanase of A. phoencis during the life cycle were surveyed by using synchronized culture technique. Avicelase activity of the fungus was reached at peak in the initial hyphal growth stage, but decreased gradually during the conidiophore formation, vesicle-phialide formation, and sporulation stages in decreasing order. CMCase, Salicinase, and Xylanase activities were raised very high in the initial hyphal growth stage, but decreased gradually in conidiophore formation and vesicle-phialide formation stages, and then increased, more or less, in the sporulation stage.

편의점 창업 성장단계에 따른 성공요인 적용 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Application of Success Factors According to the Growth Stage of Convenience Store Startup)

  • 본 연구는 성공 소상공인 창업자의 창업 이전 단계부터 성장단계까지 단계별 성공요인을 파악하여 창업 초기 인지한 성공요인과 성공 후 인지한 성공요인을 통해 효과적인 지원 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 성공한 편의점 가맹점주를 대상으로 창업 준비단계부터 초기, 성장단계에 따라 성공요인을 도출하기 위해 전기적 인터뷰를 통한 질적연구를 진행하였다. 소상공인 창업의 성공요인은 창업기업 성과(performance)에 대한 연구에서 적용하는 ERI모델과 ERIS모델을 활용하여 프랜차이즈 편의점 창업의 특성을 고려하여 연구했으며, 성장단계에 따른 성공요인을 도출하기 위해 프랜차이즈 성장단계를 반영한 Sasser et al.(1978)의 다점포 외식기업 수명주기(The multisite service firm life cycle)를 활용하여 성공요인을 연구하였다. 연구 결과, 성공한 가맹점의 핵심 요인은 첫 점포 입지선정, 전략적 추가 점포 입지선정, 성공적인 재계약으로 나타났다. 창업자의 특성에 따라서는 진취적 성향의 가맹점주는 전략적 추가 점포 입지선정, 상권방어 등에 적극적인 자세를 취하였고, 상대적으로 보수적인 가맹점주는 관리적 측면에서 점포운영, 재계약 등에 적극적인 자세로 경영하는 모습을 보여주었다. 특히 창업 준비단계에서는 창업가 마인드가 중요하며, 창업 전주기에서는 창업자의 경영전략의 중요성이 발견되었다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 향후 성장단계에 효과적으로 적용하기 위한 창업 방안을 구체적으로 모색하였다.

Evaluation and classification of selected rice varieties for salinity tolerance at seedling stage

  • To identify the new source of breeding materials for rice salt tolerance, the salinity tolerance of thirty-four varieties was evaluated under 0.5% saline condition at seedling stage. The salinity score showed highly significant correlations to dry weight and dead leaf ratio. The tested varieties were classified into three groups by visual score, reduction ratio of dry weight, and dead leaf ratio. Eighteen varieties were classified as the highly tolerant group (salinity scores of 1.3-3.7), seven varieties were fallen into the tolerant group (salinity scores of 4.2-5.8), and others were susceptible (salinity scores of 6.7-9.0). In highly tolerant group, most indica varieties including Getu, Dikwee and Kuatic Putic, didn't exsert a panicle under the Korean climate. But six varieties, Xiangcho V, Annapuruna, HP 3319-2wx-6-3-1, Giza 175, and GZ 2447-S-17, GZ 4255-6-3 were suitable to the Korean climate, and their heading date (6-16, August) and culm length (65-78㎝) were similar to the Korean varieties. Accordingly, these varieties can be utilized as crossing materials for the salt tolerance in japonica rice.

Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis Analysis of Bacterial Populations in 5-Stage Biological Nutrient Removal Process with Step Feed System for Wastewater Treatment

  • Changes in the bacterial populations of a 5-stage biological nutrient removal (BNR) process, with a step feed system for wastewater treatment, were monitored by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) of PCR-amplified 16S ribosomal DNA fragments. DGGE analysis indicated seasonal community changes were observed, however, community profiles of the total bacteria of each reactor showed only minor differences in the samples obtained from the same season. The number of major bands was higher in the summer samples, and decreased during the winter period, indicating that the microbial community structure became simpler at low temperatures. Since the nitrogen and phosphate removal efficiencies were highly maintained throughout the winter operation period, the bacteria which still remaining in the winter sample can be considered important, playing a key role in the present 5-stage BNR sludge. The prominent DGGE bands were excised, and sequenced to gain insight into the identities of the predominant bacterial populations present, and most were found to not be closely related to previously characterized bacteria. These data suggest the importance of culture-independent methods for the quality control of wastewater treatment.

Morphology and Life History of Stylonema cornu-cervi Reinsch (Goniotrichales, Rhodophyta) from Japan

  • The morhology and life history of Stylonema cornu-cervi Reinsch from Japan were investigated. The species had multiseriate erect thalli from a basal cell. The thalli usually branched dichotomously, occasionally trichotomously near the base, and non-branched thalli were sometimes observed. A dichotomous branch on the upper portion near the base occurred only one time on each erect branch. Cells contained a stellate chloroplast, which was composed of a central rounded part with an obscure pyrenoid and 5-8 cup-like lobes connected to the central part by a small thin stipe. The biseriate part was observed on the six-celled stage in culture, and the grown thalli were multiseriate except for base and apices. Monospores forming from the immediate transformation of vegetative cells were observed. Thalli grew at 15-25$^{\circ}C$ and died at 10 and 30$^{\circ}C$. The fastest growth and maturation were observed under 25$^{\circ}C$ and 14L:10D. Although S. alsidii (Zanardini) Drew usually had uniseriate thalli, irregularly branched multiseriate thalli had been reported in cultures. It is possible that in the previous report the thalli were confused with S. cornu-cervi. In this report, S. cornu-cervi were distinguished from S. alsidii in that the branches were few, the multiseriate portions were observed on the early stage (six-celled stage), and the grown thalli were multiseriate except at the base and apices.

한국(韓國)의 농업기술보급사업(農業技術普及事業) (The Current Situation and Tasks for Agricultural Extension Services in Korea.)

  • Agricultural extension services in Korea began in 1956, and led self sufficiency of rice through the 'Green Revolution' in 1970's, and a year around supply of green vegetables through the 'White/Vinyl Revolution' in 1980s. The developmental stages of agricultural extension services in Korea, in terms of major purposes, observed by the researcher were as follows; 1) Stage of production guidance when increase in production was directly related to increased income of farmers, 2) Stage of management guidance, when agricultural extension were not only concerned in increasing production, but also in management and marketing, and 3) Stage of improved welfare, when extension services put more emphasis on welfare of farmers in terms of quality of life, as well as increased production, management and marketing. Since late 1980s, farmers in Korea realized the fact that increased production may not lead to increased income. because of this, farmers also wanted improvement of management and marketing. Extension changed the identified needs of farmers to new knowledge, information, and technology in their farm business operation including management and marketing. Loosened cooperations among the central, provincial and local levels after localization of extension services since January 1997 should be strengthened. Provincial level monitoring and supervising should be enhanced for more effective agricultural extension services to meet the changing needs of farmers in the future.

성인의 건강행위 변화단계와 건강관련 삶의 질에 대한 연구 (Stages of Health Behavior Change and Health Related Quality of Life among Korean Adults)

  • Purpose: The Transtheoretical Model (TTM) is a theoretical construct explaining stages of health behavior change. The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the stages of health behavior change and health related quality of life (HRQL), Method: A descriptive survey design was utilized, and, using a questionnaire, which included a series of 5 questions designed to assess stages of health behavior change and HRQL instrument, data were collected from 292 adults. Means, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and SNK test were used to analyze the collected data. Results: Health risk behaviors were lack of stress management(44%), alcohol use (42.5%), poor nutrition (37%), smoking (36.3%), a lack of spirituality (28.8%), poor communication skills (21.9%), Lack of safety(21.6%), lack of fittness (20.1%), violent behavior(12.3%), and drug use(6.8%). There was a significant difference in HRQL according to stage of health behavior change (P=0.001). Conclusion: The results of the study identified the need for individualized nursing interventions that based on the stage of health behavior change. Nursing interventions that focus on the stage of health behavior change would be effective for health promotion for Koreans.
