The purpose of this study is to develop indicators for assessing korean youth lifelong learning competency and to validate the structure of the competencies. To achieve this research aims, the indicators for assessing life-long learning competence were drawn by systemic literature review and they were validated and modified by expert review method and two surveys targeting youth. 28 youth experts participated in the expert review. Participants were 333 middle or high school students for the first survey and 791 middle or high school students for the second survey. As results, the 3 competencies and nine sub-competencies were developed: thinking(wholistic thinking, critical thinking, emotional thinking), intellectual tools use(language, mathematic and science, information and communication technology), learning adaptability(change capacity, intellectual curiosity, learning-direction). The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of lifelong educators' core competencies as a mediating effect on adult learners' ability to function. The subject of this study was aimed at adult learners participating in lifelong education programs at lifelong educational institutions located in Gyeonggi Province. and was finally used for a total of 520 additional analyses. The main findings of this study are as follows: first, regarding the correlation between the core competence of lifelong educators and the life ability of adult learners, core competence has a static association with wisdom. In addition, wisdom has a high static association with life expectancy. Second, the core competence and wisdom of lifelong educators were found to have a significant static impact on adult learners' life abilities, accounting for 66.8%. Specifically, the most significant predictors of life's ability were creative problem solving, consideration for others, and acceptance of change, which were lower factors of wisdom. Third, the impact of a lifetime educator's core competence on adult learners is not significant. It was found that core competence has an indirect influence on life capacity through the mediating effect of wisdom, and that wisdom has directly interfaced the relationship between core competence and life ability. Taken together, these results proved that the core competence and wisdom of a lifelong educator are important variables for adult learner's life abilities. Based on this, the core competence of lifelong educators being taught in the field of lifelong education should be enhanced, and the ability of adult learners to utilize the wisdom that has been developed through the experiences of adult learners, to improve their life skills.
End-of-life care competencies have been perceived as important and essential, so it has been suggested that end-of-life care be studied in undergraduate medical education. However, end-of-life care curriculum has mostly focused on acquisition of knowledge and skills rather than attitudes. Therefore, we aimed to explore whether education about death affects medical students' attitudes towards care for dying patients and perception of death anxiety, meaning in life, and self-esteem. A total of 15 first- or second-year medical students were surveyed with questionnaires before and after completing a 6-week death education course. Paired data analysis showed that participants' attitudes towards caring for terminally ill patients and their caregivers improved significantly (t=-2.84, p=0.013) with an effect size of 0.73. In contrast, no significant changes were found in death anxiety, meaning in life, or self-esteem. All participants agreed that formal teaching about death and dying must be encouraged in medical schools. Our results suggest that death education may positively influence attitudes towards end-of-life care. Although replication with larger samples is necessary, this preliminary finding may support the importance of developmentally appropriate end-of-life care education in medical schools.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe what critical care nurses perceived about life-sustaining treatment at end of life. Methods: A qualitative content analysis method was utilized. The unit of analysis was interview text obtained from fifty critical care nurses of a general hospital. Results: Seven categories in two content areas were abstracted. In the negative perception area, the following five categories were abstracted: patients' suffering, dying with damaged dignity, patients' isolation from family members, regret about choosing life-sustaining treatment, and family members' burden. In the positive perception area, the following two categories were abstracted: willingness to sustain life and duty as family members. Conclusions: Nurses have better competencies pertaining to understanding patients' responses and suffering than any other health care professions do. Nurses should play an important role in advocating for patients and their family in the process of end-of-life care decision making.
Junior college students in located Eup-Myeon areas commonly fail to meet the basic standards of mathematics. This leads students to lack basic knowledge and to have difficulties in studying their majors. In addition, students often lose their interest in the study and eventually leave school or drop out, while some have difficulties in their life at work. To remedy and solve these problems, the country proposes National Competency Standards(NCS). The basic occupational competencies proposed in NCS are essential occupational abilities required to successfully perform the job. I want to apply mathematical ability, which is one of the basic occupational competencies, to mathematics education of junior college. Applying NCS mathematical ability to junior college students, I would like to examine the effectiveness of the NCS mathematical ability course. The purpose of this study is to find out the way of education of desirable mathematical ability and to raise basic academic ability and interest in mathematics.
This study aimed to develop, and evaluate the effectiveness of, a home economics dietary education program that could be used to improve high school students' sustainable dietary competencies. To achieve this goal, learning objectives and elements were selected for the education program to improve the students' sustainable dietary competency. The content validity of this program was verified with numerous experts. After implementing the new educational program, its effect on high school students' sustainable dietary competencies was assessed through pre- and post-tests. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, through the textbook analysis, the necessity of developing an educational program that can cultivate the three areas that constitute a sustainable diet (environment, health, and consideration) was confirmed. Second, a total of nine teaching and learning plans for sustainable dietary education programs were developed. From there, content validity verification was conducted by experts, indicating that the developed educational program was highly applicable in the field. Third, after the implementation, a survey was conducted based on a questionnaire consisting of 20 items related to three areas of sustainable diet, while the pre- and post-test assessment indicated statistically significant differences in all three areas: environment (pre: 3.40, post: 4.46, p<.001), health (pre: 3.15, post: 4.32, p<.001), and consideration (pre: 3.46, post: 4.48, p<.001). It is expected that the educational program developed in this study will be used as a basis for dietary education that fosters food citizenship in high school home economics courses.
Character means a person's nature and the mind and behavior to lead a desirable life personally and socially. Also character can be changed with education and environment. Therefore character education will be possible to do practice through various educational activities and life experiences in school. In other words, we think that students will get person's character required to lead a desirable life personally and socially beyond what they just learn knowledge and skill, enter the higher schools and succeed one's way. This study accepts merits of existing character education policy through subject(mathematics) education and focus on direction for character education through subject(mathematics) education for systematic and synthetic approach for practice of character education. For this, we will see applicability of the plan for character education in the whole subject education, in particular focusing on cases of character education in mathematics subject.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the content areas and competencies of the Family & Consumer Sciences National Standards(NSFCS 3.0) of the U. S. and UNESCO Global Citizenship Education(GCED). For this purpose, the global perspective, content areas and competencies in NSFCS 3.0 and the keywords related to the three areas of content areas of UNESCO GCED were analyzed. Specifically, the content standards and competencies related to the words 'world' or 'global' were extracted and their relationship to the GCED topics and keywords were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. First, NSFCS 3.0 described the direct correlation between individuals and the world by recognizing individuals as global citizens in 14 areas except for 'interpersonal relations' and 'parenting', specifically using the keyword of 'world' in content standards and competencies. Second, in the content standards and competencies of NSFCS 3.0, the keywords related to the topics of GCED areas were presented evenly in the three areas of FCS, dietary habits, family life, and human development. The social and emotional areas were not presented in clothing, housing, and consumer life. On the other hand, the behavioral area, which is emphasized most in the GCED, is presented in all the FCS content areas. From this, it is apparent that the learning field for GCED may be considered as the area of life pursued by the home economics curriculum. The results of this study provide foundational bases for understanding the relationship between NSFCS 3.0 and the GCED, and implications as to how to implement the content of the GCED in the next revision of the national home economics curriculum of Korea.
