학교도서관 전문인력의 계속교육 실태와 개선방안에 관한 연구 - 경기도 고양지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on Current Status of Continuing Education for Enhancing School Librarians' Expertise: Focusing on the Goyang-si in Gyeonggi-do)

  • 본 연구는 학교도서관 전담인력의 전문성 강화를 위한 계속교육에 대한 현황과 실태를 조사하고 계속교육의 개선방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 경기도 고양지역 초 중 고등학교도서관에 근무하는 사서교사 및 사서 69명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 빈도분석 및 교차분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사서교사의 계속교육에 대한 관심과 참여 경험이 높다는 사실을 파악하였다. 둘째, 참여비중이 가장 높은 계속교육 유형은 단기연수 및 강습과정으로 나타났으며, 제공되고 있는 계속교육이 실무와의 연계성이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 관리자의 낮은 인식과 지역적 제약과 적합한 계속교육 프로그램의 부재가 계속교육의 방해요인으로 나타났다. 넷째, 근무시간 중과 방학 중의 계속교육을 선호하며, 다양한 주제의 계속교육 필요성이 강조되었다. 이를 통해 지속적이고 장기적인 계속교육, 계속교육을 독려하기 위한 정책지원, 전문성을 위한 계속교육 과정 개발, 관리자의 인식전환 및 계속교육에 대한 홍보가 필요함을 제안하였다.

한국 대학도서관의 학위논문 관리 및 이용에 관한 연구 (Study on the management & utilization of these and dissertation in university libraries of Korea)

  • This study is to find out general problems a n.0, ppeared in the management and utilization of these and dissertation and to suggest some recommendations, through the survey and analysis on the Korean university libraries. Questionnaires were sent to 109 university libraries which offer master's and doctoral degrees, during the period between March 7 and March 27, 1995. Responded questionnaires of 91 libraries (about 83%) were processed using SAS. The results of this survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Most of Korean university libraries have the collections of theses and dissertations ranging from less than 10,000 volumes (27 libraries ; 32.1%) ; 10,000 to 30,000 volumes (20 libraries ; 25.0%) ; to more than 80,000 volumes (16 libraries ; 19.0%). The largest collection was around 200,000 volumes. 2. In the management of them, 35 libraries (38.5%) were active in collecting them, but 56 libraries (61.5%) were not active, mainly for the shortage of manpower and the space problems. In 62.6% of libraries, they are arranged with the books. And 51.3% of libraries process them in less than one month. 46 libraries (52.9%) computerize their system, and among them 40 libraries (87%) establish their own databases. 3. The collections of theses and dissertations are called by various name, including periodical room, theses room, reference reading room etc. reaching to 15 kinds. 71 libraries (78.0%) adopt open system, and 17 libraries closed system ; and 2 libraries (3.2%) partial open system. 62 libraries (68.1%) arrange them in the order of call number, while 20 libraries (31.9%) by other criteria.

대학도서관의 목록이용연구 (Catalog use study : with reference to universities in Daegu)

  • This paper gives a summary and overview of a survey conducted at the catalogues of five universities in Daegu during November 1982. The major objective of this study was to secure information about user needs in order to improve the catalogue in Korean university libraries. Data was collected by a combined method of questionnaire and interview. A total of 379 respondents were taken on a randomly selected sample of catalogue users. Results of the survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Eighty-eight percent of the students answered that they had used the library more than twice a month. Nevertheless the number of students consulting the catalogue with the same frequency was only 220, or a n.0, pproximately 58 percent. Those who used the library most tended to use the catalogue more than those who rarely came to the library. 2. Those who had been shown how to use their own catalogue were only 32.5percent of which the students found the instruction sufficient for them to be able to use the catalogue were only 37.5 percent. In particular, they stated that instructions by printed materials and/or library orientation were so poor that they didn't give much help in using the catalogue. This problem makes many libraries to review their own method of instruction in order to encourage patrons to use the catalogue more effectively. 3. Most of the students consulted the catalogue in order to locate library materials. Known-item searches and subject searches were 84 and 16 percent respectively. While 70.5 percent of the students used the author-title catalogue without any difficulties, only 35.5 percent of those stated that using the classed catalogue was easy. 4. It was surprising that the number of students using title access in the search was far greater than that of students using author access. In contrast with this, other studies conducted by many earlier overseas investigators revealed that the great majority of patrons tended to use the latter first. Therefore, we should put more emphasis on the title entries in the catalogue itself as well as cataloging rules. 5. Most useful bibliographic elements in the entry were author, title, call number, date and publisher whereas edition, series statement and the location of publisher were rarely used compared with the other elements. Content note was the most desirable element in the entry to be involved, for many catalogers were used not to describe it on the note area. 6. The chief reason given for not using the catalogue was "I can manage without it" with "It's difficult to understand contents of the card entry." The other one was "It's useless to search materials by the catalogue because I've failed so many times to obtain them out of the stock." In response to this, circulation and acquisition system should be improved not to make such complaints any more.

평생학습사회의 기반구축과 학교도서관매체 센터에 관한 연구 (A Study on School Library Media Center as an infrastructure of lifelong learning in society)

  • 학교도서관매체센터가 학교교육에 긍정적 영향을 줄뿐만 아니라 평생학습사회의 하부구조임을 밝히는 것이 본 논고의 목적이다. 평생학습사회는 사회구성원의 학습욕구와 이를 지원할 수 있는 학습환경이 구비됨으로써 형성될 수 있다. 그리고 학교도서관매체센터는 사회구성원들의 학습욕구를 형성시켜주는 산실로 규명된다. 민주주의 사회에서 사회구성원들이 학습욕구를 강하게 가질 때 사회환경이 학습하기에 적절하고 편리하도록 변형된다는 것은 자연스러운 논리이다. 결과적으로 학교도서관매체센터는 사회구성원의 학습욕구를 만들어 내고 또 이에 응하는 사회환경을 조성하는 원동력을 조성해 낸다고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 필자는 학교도서관매체센터가 평생학습사회의 중요한 하부구조라고 밝히고 있다.

국내 어린이도서관의 한국십진분류법 적용 현황 및 이용자 요구에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of the Korean Decimal Classification(KDC) and Users' Needs in Libraries for Children in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 KDC 4판을 중심으로 국내 어린이도서관의 어린이 자료 분류의 개선 방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구, 국내 51개 어린이도서관의 KDC 적용 현황 조사와 부모 및 어린이 이용자의 요구 분석을 실시하였다. 국내 현황과 이용자 요구 분석 결과를 토대로 KDC 개선 방안을 분류체계 부문과 배가 부문으로 나누어 제시하였다. 우선, 분류체계 부문에서는 특정 기호에 집중되는 주제를 분산시키고, 어린이 자료의 다양한 유형과 특성, 다양한 어린이 문학 장르를 KDC 상에 반영해야 한다. 또한 학제적 주제에 대하여 상세한 주기 및 분류지침을 제공해야 한다. 배가 부문에서는 첫째, 이용자 친화적인 청구기호 구성과 배열 방법을 도입하고, 둘째, 이용자의 다양한 관심 분야를 반영한 컬렉션 구성과 어린이와 부모를 대상으로 이용교육을 실시하도록 제언하였다.

새 연대순 도서기호법의 연구 (A Study of New Chronological Book Numbers)

  • In most of the modern libraries throughout the world, it is popular to adopt the author number which arranges the books or entries in alphabetical order of their author's names within the same ultimate class. However, viewed historically, that was the Western practice never used in the East before. Traditionally chronological order was followed in the East. Book number not only individualizes the books within the same class but also makes it easy for the user to choose and find out the relevant materials. In this respect, chronological book number is decidedly superior to all kinds of book number systems ever have been existed. Especially in these days of rapid obsolescence of documents and with serious problems of storage of documents, the chronological order seems to be the most modern and future-oriented of all other book number systems because it distinguishes clearly new materials from aged materials by the date of publication and controls the stack spaces mechanically and effectively. This writer devised New Chronological Book Numbers adaptable to both the Eastern and Western materials, and the system has been adopted at Yonsei University Library. The features of the system are as follows: (1) It is easy to type the call number in cataloging the Eastern and Western materials. That is because the structure of the chronological number is pure numerical notation by taking the last two figures of the year within twentieth century(e.g. 85 for AD 1985), that is 1900s, and the last three figures of the year from twenty-first century to thirtieth century, that is 2000s. (2) It does not make all classes have chronological number uniformly. Within the classes for individual biographies, genealogies and collections of biography of specific family, books about individual organization, individual literary and artistic works, philosophical works of the famous philosophers, books and its facsmile editions published before 1900, new editions, translations, commentaries, serials, chronological number is assigned to the author number as in the past. (3) It separates the Eastern materials from the Western materials and makes the typing easy in cataloging. That is because the subarrangement within the same chronological book number is made by the accession order which uses 'panjol-ponmun' or the characters of basic syllabic table of Korean alphabet in case of the Eastern materials and Roman alphabet in case of the Western materials.

Effective handoff schemes with dynamic channel allocation

  • Sufficient bandwidth that can support multimedia service has to be provided in the next generation wireless communication system. In this paper, the effective handoff scheme considering the position of mobile terminal is proposed. In addition, the dynamic channel allocation scheme is proposed. The shared channel in this algorithm can reduce more the blocking probability and the dropping probability. The proposed algorithms are simulated by SMPL library in C language. The simulation results show that the blocking probability and the dropping probability of the call can be reduced up to $60\%\;and\;10\%$ using the proposed algorithms, respectively.

한국십진분류법(KDC) 한국소설항목의 세분방안에 대한 연구 - 공공도서관을 중심으로 - (A Research on Close Classification for Korean Fiction in KDC: Focusing on Public Library)

  • 문학류(literature)는 국내 공공도서관의 장서 가운데 가장 큰 비중을 차지하는 주제분야이다. 그 가운데에서도 한국소설장서는 단일주제로는 가장 많은 비중을 차지하고 있는 장서이다. 공공도서관 전체 장서의 14%가 한국소설류로 구성되어 있는 것으로 추정된다. 전체 장서의 14%를 차지하고 있는 한국소설장서의 분류를 위한 한국십진분류법(KDC; Korean Decimal Classification)의 분류항목은 813 하나의 목(目; section)이다. 전체 14%에 해당하는 장서가 천구분에 해당되는 하나의 목항목에 집중되어 분류되고 있는 것이다. 특히 장서량이 많은 현대한국소설을 위한 항목으로는 세목(細目; sub section)인 813.6과 813.7의 두 항목이 배정되어 있고, 실제로 다수의 도서관에서는 813.6 하나의 세목항목을 활용하여 분류하고 있는 것으로 조사된다. 도서기호를 통해 추가적인 세분이 이루어지기는 하지만 기본적으로 한국소설류에 배정된 분류항목이 적어 개별자료에 부여된 청구기호의 식별력이 떨어진다. 이에 따라 관리자의 배가작업 및 이용자의 검색 모두 쉽지 않은 상황이다. 이에 본고는 한국소설류의 세분 전개가 가능하도록 한국십진분류법(KDC) 해당 항목의 세분 전개방안을 모색하고 적합성을 검토하였다.

한국 대학도서관 학생 관외대출제도에 관한 조사연구 (A Survey Research on the Circulation System for Students of College and University Libraries in Korea)

  • This is a survey of the circulation system for students in college & university libraries in Korea. The survey used a questionnaire with 14 questions on 6 items concerning the various aspects of the circulation system in 82 libraries responded among 85 college & university libraries as of 1981. The survey results discovered many problems needing improvement. The following list describes the measures needed to better the problems found in the survey results of 82 libraries. 1. 67.1% of the libraries shows the restricted volumes loaning less than 2 volumes, and 81.7% of the libraries shows the loan periods less than a week, but it is desirable to extend them, when comparing with the size of holdings and the higher educational system at present. 2. It is desirable that the number of a staff in charge of circulation works places one person per average 75-85 books borrowed a day, when calculating an adequate number of the staff on the basis of the correlation between books borrowed a day and number of the staff. 3. 59.8% of the libraries does not have reserved book system, but it is desirable to take it for increasing reliability about the circulation services. 4. More than half of the libraries takes a method of a public announcement on a notice-board for claims of overdue books, but it is desirable to send a claim notice to the individual in viewpoint of keeping their privacies. 5. More than half of the libraries to take the open access system uses a call slip, but it is desirable not to use it in viewpoint of simplicity and economical efficiency of the charging system, because of demanding the unnecessary records. 6. Most of libraries shows many problems of the charging system, especially in factors of the records and filing system, but it is desirable to improve it on the basis of 4 basic factors of the charging system, that is, simplicity, economical efficiency, promptitude and accuracy.

가상현실을 이용한 동화상 도서관의 구현 (The Implementation of Video Library using VR)

  • 최근 멀티미디어 환경에서 보다 진보된 가상현실의 환경을 요구하고 있다. 가상현실은 광범위한 응용분야를 창출할 수 있으며 여러 분야의 핵심적인 기술요소들이 통합되어야만 가상현실을 구현할 수 있고 기술적인 분야에서 커다란 전환을 가져오므로서 최근에 급속한 주목을 받아오고 있다. 동화상 정보 시스템에서 입체영상을 구축하기 위해서는 도서관내 전경 및 도서들의 2D 좌/우 이미지를 활용하여 가상현실 시스템 구조는 display, tracking, computation의 세 가지 구성 요소로 이루어지며, 또한 사운드 출력, 음성 출력, 음성 인식이 요구되어진다. 이러한 3D 가상현실 시스템을 이용하여 구조적 구상화, 설계, 교육과 훈련, 공간 탐험, 오락과 같은 많은 분야에 응용될 수 있다.
