  • The current study was conducted to produce basic data for the policy establishment to improve the life satisfaction of residents in regional communities. The study subjected total 1,400 residents living in youngnam province in our nation for the survey by using convenience sampling. The survey took about 4 months started from March 1, 2007 to June 30, 2007. The abstract and conclusion of the result could be summarized as in below. 1. In subjective health status, 45.4% responded as normal, and the health status scored $2.68{\pm}0.67$ in 5 point scale(53.6 in 100 point scale). 2. The level of life satisfaction was found to show the score of $19.57{\pm}3.39$ in 30 point scale(65.2 in 100 point scale). Characteristically, the highest score was found in male in both age groups younger than 19 and in 20s, but lowest score was found in the age group in 40s(p<0.001). In the level of life satisfaction, 29.6% responded as satisfactory and 11.9% responded as not satisfactory. 3. In reviewing the life satisfaction by the health related characteristics, 65.7% of whom responded as very healthy answered satisfactory in life, and the life satisfaction was significantly high in peoples who do not smoke. However, the level was significantly higher in alcohol drinker than no alcohol drinker. People who have enough sleep tended to satisfy in their life, and the life satisfaction level of whom have leisure turned out to show superiorly high satisfaction level. 4. As the variables affecting on the life satisfaction, sex, age, education level, marital status, health status, stress level, life satisfaction level, healthy life activities and depression level were found, and the influence of these variables was 19.6%. As the above results demonstrate, the life satisfaction of residents in regional community was proportional to health status and highly affected by daily health life. So, the more attentions have to be made on health management and the self effort should not be neglected. Especially, since stress, depression level and leisure life did have effects on life satisfaction, more attentions have to be made on stress solving and on the development of leisure life programs. For the goal, the governments, related private organizations and specialized workforces have to make integrated efforts along with the health improvement project in large perspectives.

For leadership type of directors 39.0% of them was classified as controller, 30.3% as participant, 22.7% entertaining and 7.6% comprehending. Regarding sociopsychological characteristics of the health center staffs, about a quarter of them had high degree of group cohesion, while 10.7% had low degree. Those staffs who are older, high educational level, or working in the rural health centers showed higher degree of cohesion than those who are young, low educational level, or working in urban health center. A third of them were less likely to be satisfied by what they are doing at the health centers. The higher educational level, the likely to be satisfied by what they are doing at the health centers. • This study was carried out in order to confirm the reliability and validity of the commitment inventory developed by Meyer and Allen, and to investigate commitment level of health manager, to compare two different professionals of health manager such as industrial health nurse and industrial hygienist to find out some characteristics that have effect on commitment. This survey was done by self-administered questionnaire to 227 respondents as the trainees of Industrial Safety Training Center, KISCO from June to December 1996. Authors classified commitment into two categories ; professional commitment and organizational commitment, and these two types of commitments have three different aspects ; affective, continuance, and normative commitment based on Meyer's inventory. The results were as follows; 1. Items of whole scales of the both type of commitments have three factors that represent three aspects of commitment ; affective, continuance, and normative commitment. This means that each type of commitment was reliable to use as measurement tool of three different aspects of commitment. Classification of items by factor analysis was more consistent in professional commitment than organizational commitment. Among 16 items of organizational commitment, four items were classified into different aspects of commitment with similar factor loading. 2. Commitment level of industrial health nurse was higher than that of industrial hygienist in affective, continuance professional commitment controlled by other characteristics. These differences can be due to other characteristics of specific task and background of health managers that were not used in this study. 3. The level of affective professional commitment was statistically different in age, sex, educational level, and that of organizational commitment was statistically different in only two variables such as age, and job tenure. The level of continuance professional and organizational commitments were different in sex group, but past history of employment have effect on continuance organizational commitment. The level of normative organizational commitment was affected by only age. As the above results, the tools of measurement of commitment developed by Meyer and Allen can be useful to measure the level of commitment of health manager. Three aspects of two types of commitments were influenced by different characteristics of health manager. Authors suggested future study on the affecting variables to the commitment such as background, task of health manager and organizational characteristics.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationships between among health literacy, knowledge and self-care behavior in elderly patients with heart failure(HF). Methods: 166 patients (age ${\geq}65$ years) with HF were recruited in a cardiovascular center of an university affiliated hospital. The structured questionnaire included Health literacy, Dutch Heart Failure Knowledge Scale, European Heart Failure Self-care Behavior, Self-Care of Heart Failure Index. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Chi-test, Pearson correlation analysis, t-test and ANCOVA using SPSS/WIN version 21.0. Results: Participants with the high level of health literacy were more likely to be younger (p=.001), men (p=.001), with more education (p<.001), and have a job (p=.004), and with a higher economic status (p=.005). The positive correlations between the level of health literacy, knowledge, and self-care behavior were confirmed (p<.001). Participants with the high level of health literacy showed higher level of knowledge, more self-care behavior for health maintenance, and confidence. Conclusion: This study shows that the level of health literacy may influence knowledge and self-care behavior in elderly patients with HF. In order to improve self-care behaviors in elderly patients, a strategic nursing approach based on the level of patients' health literacy needs to be considered.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the causal relationship between perceptual level of stress and health state according to Korean constitutions and to analyze that effect on the Korean constitution's health state. Subjects of this study were 87 out patient department of constitution at Kyung-Hee Oriental Medicine Hospital. Data were collected by using interview with Questionaire during 6 months from Feb. 2 to June 31, 1991. The Measurement tools used by this researcher were Go's The Questionaire of Identify about constitution, Lee's stress scale and Go's modified Cornell Medical Index which were approved it's reliability and validity. All of the questionaires of were used after pre- test. For the purposes of the study, the collected data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation. And then this research's issue was tested by SAS program's ANCOVA. The findings of this study was summarized as follow. 1. There was significantly differences in stress perceptual level in Korean constitution. (F=9.68, P=.000). The So Em In (小陰人) were higher than the other constitution on stress perceptional level. 2. In health state, there was significantly difference among Korean constitution. (F=6.654, P=.002). Also the So Em In (小陰人) was lower than the other constitution at health state. Therefore, it was considerate that So Em In (小陰人) was higher perceptual level of stress than the other constitution and the resulting poor health state. 3. Stressful perception was effected on the health state, as a result inverted correlation was constructed between stress perception and health state. (r=-.6034, P=.0001) 4. After exclusion of stress perceptual level, each of the Korean Constitution's health state was not difference (F=1.01, P=.37). It was mean that differences of the Korean Constitution's perceptual level of stress effected on the health state. Bacause So Em In (小陰人) had higher perceptual level of stress than other constitution (F=9.687, P=.000), in proportion to that one's health state was poor. From the results of this study, it could be concluded that the higher stress perceptual level according to Korean constitution, the poorer health state. Further study in this area needs to be consideration that in order to coping with stress, researcher grope for quality nursing intervention with more accurative assessment about Korean constitution.
