학습제어기법을 이용한 X-Y Table의 마찰보상 (Friction Compensation of X-Y robot Using a Learning Control Technique)

  • Whereas the linear PID controller is widely used for control of industrial servo systems a high precision positioning system is not easy to control only with the PID controller due to uncertain nonlinear dynamics such as friction backlash etc. As a viable means to overcome the difficulty a learning control scheme is proposed in this paper that is simple and straightforward to implement. The proposed learning controller takes full advantage of current feedback capability of the inner-loop of the control system in that electrical motor dynamics as the well as mechanical part of X-Y positioning system is included in the learning control scheme, The experimental results are given to demonstrate its feasibility and effectiveness in terms of convergence precision of tracking and robustness in comparison with the conventional control method.

Analysis of Learning Process and Achievement for Environmental Microbiology Taught in English as a Basis of Environmental Science and Technology

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate Environmental microbiology (EM) as a basic course for the environmental engineering program of Korea Maritime University which has been accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK). Evaluation result of the lecture objectives was more than the average (3.5/5.0). The overall score for learning achievement assessment was more than average level of learning achievement (3.4/5.0). Interestingly, engineering design implementation regarding a specific topic as an extensive learning process has proven to be more effective (3.5/5.0). Some of effective class improvement strategies suggested were to encourage students to participate in the class with self-motivation and accountability: preview and review of the lecture, team presentation in English-speaking settings, and submitting project report written in English. In the future class of EM, test and evaluation of application capability of EM and environmental biotechnology (EB) theories to engineering problem solving should be emphasized.

  • In this paper we develope a hybrid learning rule to improve the robustness of multi-layer Perceptions. In most neural networks the activation of a neuron is deternined by a nonlinear transformation of the weighted sum of inputs to the neurons. Investigating the behaviour of activations of hidden layer neurons a new learning algorithm is developed for improved robustness for multi-layer Perceptrons. Unlike other methods which reduce the network complexity by putting restrictions on synaptic weights our method based on error-backpropagation increases the complexity of the underlying proplem by imposing it saturation requirement on hidden layer neurons. We also found that the additional gradient-descent term for the requirement corresponds to the Hebbian rule and our algorithm incorporates the Hebbian learning rule into the error back-propagation rule. Computer simulation demonstrates fast learning convergence as well as improved robustness for classification and hetero-association of patterns.

  • 메모리 기반 추론 기법은 분류시 입력 패턴과 저장된 패턴들 사이의 거리를 이용하는 교사 학습 기법으로써, 거리 기반 학습 알고리즘이라고도 한다. 메모리 기반 추론은 k_NN 분류기에 기반한 것으로, 학습은 추가 처리 없이 단순히 학습 패턴들을 메모리에 저장함으로써 수행된다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 k-NN 분류기보다 효율적인 분류가 가능하고, 점진적 학습 기능을 갖는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 기법은 노이즈에 민감하지 않으며, 효율적인 메모리 사용을 보장한다.

A Study on Deep Reinforcement Learning Framework for DME Pulse Design

  • The Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) is a ground-based aircraft navigation system and is considered as an infrastructure that ensures resilient aircraft navigation capability during the event of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) outage. The main problem of DME as a GNSS back up is a poor positioning accuracy that often reaches over 100 m. In this paper, a novel approach of applying deep reinforcement learning to a DME pulse design is introduced to improve the DME distance measuring accuracy. This method is designed to develop multipath-resistant DME pulses that comply with current DME specifications. In the research, a Markov Decision Process (MDP) for DME pulse design is set using pulse shape requirements and a timing error. Based on the designed MDP, we created an Environment called PulseEnv, which allows the agent representing a DME pulse shape to explore continuous space using the Soft Actor Critical (SAC) reinforcement learning algorithm.

  • 본 연구는 우리나라의 중소기업 내 R&D 학습조직의 활동이 경제적 기술적 성과에 미치는 영향을 밝히는데 그 목적이 있다. 국내외 학습조직 연구자들의 선행 연구 조사를 통해 학습조직의 정의, 특징, 유형, 저해요인을 알아 보고 종속변수인 조직성과의 정의, 학습조직과 조직성과와의 관계를 분석하였다. 구미지역 중소기업을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 R&D 역량(연구기획, 비전 목표 적합성, 프로젝트 관리, 기술의 상용화/사업화)과 학습조직역량(지속적 학습기회의 창출, 지식공유 및 활용시스템, 전략적 학습 리더십)을 7가지의 독립변수로 나누어 기업의 성과와 어떠한 관계에 있는지 회귀분석을 이용하여 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 R&D 학습조직 활동이 기업의 성과에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인함으로써, 기업들의 활발한 R&D 활동을 위해 수반되어져야 할 기업 내 자체 R&D 학습조직의 형성을 촉진시키고, 중소기업들의 R&D 활동의 필요성에 대한 인식 재고에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

  • In this paper, we present an associative memory network (AMN) controller for dynamic robot control. The purpose of using AMN is to reduce the size of required memory in storing and recalling large of daa representing input relationship of nonlinear functions. With the capability AMN can be used to dynamic robot control, which has nonlinear properties inherently. The proposed AMN control scheme has advantages for the inverse dynamics learning no limitatiion of inpur range, and insensitive of payload change. Computer simulations show the effectiveness and feasibility of proposed scheme.

  • A digital hardware architecture for artificial neural network with learning capability is described in this paper. It is a modified hardware architecture known as HANNIBAL(Hardware Architecture for Neural Networks Implementing Back propagation Algorithm Learning). For implementing an efficient neural network hardware, we analyzed various type of multiplier which is major function block of neuro-processor cell. With this result, we design a efficient digital neural network hardware using serial/parallel multiplier, and test the operation. We also analyze the hardware efficiency with logic level simulation.   • Recent demands from construction industry have emphasized the capability for graduates to have improved skills both technical and non-technical such as problem solving, interpersonal communication. To satisfy these demands, problem-based learning that is an instructional method characterized by the use of real world problem has been adopted and has proven its effectiveness various disciplines. However, in spite of the importance of field senses and dealing with real problem, construction engineering education has generally focused on traditional lecture-oriented course. In order to improve limitations of current construction education and to satisfy recent demands from construction industry, this paper proposes a new educational approach that is Failure-Based Learning for using combination of the procedural characteristics of the problem-based learning theory in construction technology education utilizing failure information that has the educational value in the construction area by reinterpreting characteristics of construction industry and construction failure information. The major results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) Educational effect of problem-based learning methodology and limitation of application in construction area 2) The educational value of the information on construction failure and limitation in application of the information in construction sector 3) Anticipated effect from application of the failure-based learning 4) Development and application of the failure-based learning conceptual model.

  • This Paper Presents an Internet-based Java self-learning educational system which consists of a management system named Java Web Player (JWP) and creative multimedia contents fer Java language. The JWP Is a Java application program free from security problems by the Java Web Start technologies that supports an Integrated learning environment including three Important learning Procedures: Java concept learning Process, Programming practice process and assessment process. This JWP enables the learners to achieve efficient and Interesting self-learning since the learning process is designed to enhance the multimedia capabilities on the basis of various educational technologies. On-line voice presentation and its related texts together with moving images are synchronized for efficiently conveying creative contents to learners. Furthermore, a simple and useful compiler is included in the JWP fur providing user-friendly language practice environment enabling such as coding, editing, executing and debugging Java source files on the Web. The assessment process with various items helps the learners not only to increase their academic capability but also to appreciate their current degree of understanding. Finally, simple multiple choices are given suddenly to the learners while they are studying through the JWP and the test results are displayed on the message box. The proposed system can be used for an efficient tool for learning system on the Web.
