  • In order to obtain the basic information for the most successful breeding of Burley tobacco, these studies were performed on the correlations among agronomic characters and on the heterosis and combining ability in $F_1$ generation. Heterosis ratio was highly variable in different $F_1$ combinations. Positive heterosis was observed in all characters except days to flowering and yield showed the highest heterosis ratio. As the results of analysis of dialled table, the general combining ability (GCA) in all characters was shown to be significant . All characters except the number of leaves in the specific combining ability (SCA) were significant, Variety, L8, contributed negative GCA for all characters. Burley 21, ky 10 and ky 14 contributed negative GCA for leaf width, quality and yield, respectively. Hybrid of ky 10 x ky 14 showed negative SCA and hybrids of ky I0x L8 and ky 14 x L8 showed positive SCA for all characters. There were significant correlations between yield and number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width or leaf area. Correlation between yield and days to flowering was non- significant .

향끽미품종담배의 식혈간 거리와 식혈당 주수가 수량 및 품질에 미치는 영향 (A Multiple Planting in a Hole for Producing an Aromatic Tobacco Variety, Sohyang(Nicotiana tabacum L.))

  • This study was carried out to investigate the influence of distance of planting holes (51, 45, and 40 cm) and number of plants per a hole(4, 5, 6 plants) on agronomic characteristics, yield, and quality of an aromatic tobacco, Sohyang. The results are as follows: 1. Relative light intensity increased by widening the distance of holes. 2. Leaf area per a plant or per a leaf, and leaf length and width increased by widening the distance of holes and decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. But L. A. 1. increased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. Leaf shape index (Leaf length/Leaf width) showed little differences among treatments. 3. Dry weight of leaf, root, and stem per a plant decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. 4. Total nitrogen decreased by increasing number of plants per a hole and in the case of narrow distance of holes, but nicotine, reducing sugar, ether-extract and ash showed little differences. 5. Yield per 10a decreased by widening the distance of holes. 6. Quality(price per kg) was improved by increasing the number of plants per a hole at the Plot of 51m distance of holes. But there was no variation at the Plot of 45cm. And quality was decreased at the plot of 40cm distance of holes by increasing the number of Plants per a hole. 7. Price per 10a was highest in the plot of which plant spacing was $90\times$40cm and the number of plants per a hole was 4 (11112 plant/10a).

  • The present studies were carried out to obtain some basic informations of the breeding of tobacco varieties. Genetically divergent 8 varieties, 3 flue-cured, 2 burley and 3 sun-cured tobaccos, were used in half diallel cross. In order to analyze the heterosis, combining abilities, modes of inheritance and correlations for some agronomic and chemical characters, 8 parents and 28 $F_1$ were tested. The results obtained were summarized as follows: The percentages of heterosis for stem diameter, internode length and total sugar content in $F_1$ hybrid were 3.6%, 3.1% and 10.6%, whereas these for days to flower, total alkaloids and leaves per plant were -6.3%, -6.9% and -5.0%, respectively. Yield had significant positive genotypic correlations with plant height, days to flower and leaf length, but negative with internode length and total sugar content. It also had significant prositive phenotypic correlations with plant height, days to flower, leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width and leaf shape index (Leaf length/leaf width). General (GCA) and specific combining abilities (SCA) for all characters of $F_1$ hybrid were significant. The effects of GCA were positive on yield, plant height, stem diameter, leaves per plant and days to flower of Burley 21. And those were positive on yield, leaf shape index and plant height, but negative on leaves per plant and total nitrogen of Hicks. The effects of SCA for yield and leaves per plant were greater than those of others on the combinations of Coker 139 and Burley type, respectively.

Ecological Niche Overlap and Competition between Quercus mongolica and Quercus dentata Under Soil Water Gradient

  • Q. mongolica and Q. dentata are representative species of deciduous forest communities in Korea and are known to be relatively resistant to soil drying condition among Korean oaks. This study attempted to elucidate the degree of competition and ecological niche characteristics of the two species by comparing the ecological responses of the two species according to soil moisture. Competition between Q. mongolica and Q. dentata was shown to be more intense under the conditions where moisture content was low than under the conditions where moisture content was high. As for the ecological niche overlaps of the two species for soil moisture, the structural traits of plant such as stem diameter overlapped the most, the traits of biomass such as petiole weight overlapped the least, and photosynthetic organ-related traits such as leaf width and length overlapped intermediately. When looking at the competition for soil moisture between the two species, it can be seen that Q. mongolica won in nine traits (leaf width length, leaf lamina length, leaf lamina weight, leaf petiole weight, leaf area, leaves weight, shoot weight, root weight, and plant weight) and Q. dentata won in the remaining seven traits (leaf petiole length, leaves number, stem length, stem diameter, stem weight, shoot length, and root length). Competition between the two species for the moisture environment of the soil was shown to be intense under the conditions where moisture content was low. The degree of competition between Q. dentata and Q. mongolica for soil moisture is high under the conditions where soil moisture content is low, and it is judged that Q. mongolica is more competitive for soil moisture than Q. dentata.

연초 수량 및 수량관련형질들의 경로분석 (Path-Coefficient Aanalysis of Yield-Characters in Tobacco)

  • 본 연구는 담배육종에 있어 유용형질이 담배 수량에 영향을 미치는 직접 및 간접효과들을 잡종초기세대에 분석함으로써 앞으로의 선발육종에 대한 기초정보를 얻기 위하여 수행하였다. 시험방법은 유전적 특성이 다양한 8개 품종을 공시하여 이면교잡을 하고 양성된 F$_1$, F$_2$ 각 세대별 28개 조합을 Orient 및 Burley 종 각 재배법에 따라 1986년부터 1988년까지 본 연구소 대구시험장에서 수행하였다. 조사항목은 초장, 엽수, 엽장, 엽폭, 개화일수 및 수량 등 6개 농업형질과 nicotine, total nitrogen, protein nitrogen, total volatile base, pet. ether extract 등 6개의 내용성분들로서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 각 형질들의 수량에 대한 직접효과는 세대나 재배법에 따라 다소의 차이는 있었지만 대개 엽장, 엽폭, 개화일수 및 엽수의 순으로 높았으나 내용성분은 낮았다. 2. 간접효과는 재배법이나 세대에 관계없이 대개 엽장, 개화일수, 그리고 total nitrogen의 형질들이 타형질에 미치는 영향이 컸었다.

겉보리와 쌀보리의 교잡 F1 세대에서 생육 및 수량형질의 잡종강세와 정역간 교잡효과 (Hybrid Vigor and Reciprocal Effect of Several Growth and Yield Characters in Fls crossed between Hulled and Naked Barley)

  • 정역교잡에 따른 보리의 겉보리와 쌀보리의 $F_1$세대에 대한 잡종강세의 정도와 이들의 유전적 작용을 평가할 수 있는 heterosis나 heterobeltiosis의 검정과 유전력 및 상관관계를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 겉보리$\times$쌀보리, 쌀보리$\times$겉보리의 교배조합에 따른 heterosis는 간장, 수장, 망장, 엽장, 엽폭, 주당수수, 수당립수, 천립중 등의 모든 형질에서 정의 강세율을 보였다. 쌀보리$\times$겉보리의 교배조합이 겉보리$\times$쌀보리의 교배조합보다 heterosis나 heterobeltiosis가 간장, 엽장, 엽폭, 주당수수, 수당립수 등에서 강세의 정도가 다소 높았고, 피과성의 우성정도는 피성이 과성에 대하여 우성이었음을 확인하였다. 그리고 교배조합간의 유전력은 엽폭에서 94.5 %로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 각 조사형 질 대부분 76.7-94.5 %로 높은 수치를 나타내었다. 또한 겉보리와 쌀보리의 정역교배조합간 상관 관계는 정교배의 경우, 염장과 주당수수(0.970$^{**}$ ), 간장과 수당립수$(0.963^{**})$, 망장과 엽장$(0.862^{**})$이 정으로 높은 유전상관을, 역교배의 경우, 간장과 수장$(0.926^{**})$, 망장과 엽장$(0.922^{**})$, 주당수수와 수당립수$(0.713^{**})$가 높은 유전상관을 나타내었다.

  • 털머위는 잎에 노란 점이 있는 경우 관상용으로 활용되는 특성이 있고, 꽃을 보기 위한 화단용 식물로 널리 이용된다. 관상 가치를 지닌 작물은 생육 예측을 위해 여러 지표를 설정하고, 지표들 사이의 관계를 정량적으로 표현할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 제주 지역에 자생중인 털머위의 엽장과 엽폭을 조사하고, 모델에 대해 회귀 분석을 실시하여 엽면적과 개화 수를 추정하는 모델을 결정하고자 하였다. 작물의 엽면적과 개화수 추정을 위한 지표로 털머위의 엽장과 엽폭을 측정하여 8종의 회귀 모델에 대해 적용하였다. 털머위의 엽장과 엽폭을 이용하여 엽면적과 개화 수를 추정한 8종 모델의 회귀분석 결과 선형 모델의 R2 값이 모두0.84와 0.80 이상으로 높게 나타났다. 털머위의 엽면적과 개화 수를 추정하는 모델 중 가장 신뢰도가 높은 것을 이용하여 검증한 결과, R2는 각각0.90과 0.82로 나타나 신뢰할 수 있는 모델임을 확인하였다. 측정이 간편한 생체 지표로부터 품질 평가에 사용할 수 있는 여러 지표를 추정하는 모델을 이용하면 관상 식물에 대한 평가가 원활하게 이루어질 것이다.

생울타리 식재 패턴의 선호도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Preference of the Hedge Planting Pattern)

  • This study aims to clarify the preference of the hedge, on focusing the height, density, width of the hedge, which gives limited dwelling space continuity with outer space, promotes the naturality to dwelling environment, and plays an important role as green space in city. For this, it is performed statistical analysis by field survey, by classifying the hedge as planting pattern, and synthesizing the photograph. Therefore, the results of this study are as follows : 1. In the preference of height of the hedge, when only the hedge is composed, 1.5M is preferred, and when the hedge with deciduous tree, with needle-leaf tree, 1.25M is preferred. 2. In the preference of density of the hedge, which are perfect density, in case of the hedge, which are almost density, in case of the needle-leaf tree, are preferred. 3. In the preference of width of the hedge, 0.4M is preferred. 4. In the preferential factors of the hedges, the preference of the hedge is mainly influenced by density. As the result of multiple regression analysis of visual preference as the height, the density, the width, and the regression equation are as follows : Visual Preference = 0.094+0.412(density)+0.370(height)+0.177(width)

  • The experiments were carried out to investigate effect of shading rare on variegata appearance and leaf growth of variegated liriope (Liriope platyphylla Wang et Tang variegata Hort.) The plant was grown under four different light intensities such as 0(natural light intensity), 25, 50 and 75% shading conditions. Leaf variegata appearance was better in the light than in the shade. Leaf showed good growth at 0, 25% shading treatment, average leaf width and area of yellow part were highest at 0% shading treatment. As increased shading rate, number of stomate per unit area decreased. Total chlorophyll of the whole leaf and green part were reduced by increasing shading rate, while yellow part showed oppositely. In the epidermis, cell size of 75% shading treatment showed larger than those of 0% shading treatment.

담배의 엽 발달 및 노화과정 중 이화학성 변화 (Changes of Physico-chemical Properties during the Leaf Development and Senescence of Tobacco Plant)

  • This experiment was conducted to obtain the basic information on the morphological and physiological changes in tobacco leaf during the growth period by measuring the changes of chlorophyll, sugar, lipid and mineral contents in tobacco plant. Leaf length and width have been fully developed at 25 days after leaf emergence. Dry weight was rapidly increased between 10 and 15 days after leaf emergence and reached the highest at 30 days. Crude lipid content, palmitic acid, and the major saturated fatty acid were increased with progressing senescence, while unsaturated fatty acid including linolenic acid was decreased as the senescence was advanced. The total nitrogen content showed the highest value at IS days after leaf emergence. On the other hand, the total sugar content showed the highest value at 45 days after leaf emergence and glucose, fructose and sucrose were decreased with leaf development and increased at the end of senescence. The content of chlorophyll showed the highest value at 15 days after leaf emergence and began to decrease at 30 days after leaf emergence. The contents of p, Cu, Zn, and Fe in tobacco leaves were decreased by the end of senescence after leaf emergence but those of Ca, Mg, and Mn in leaves were increased.
