This experiment was carried out using artificial clay and LED in the plastic film house (irradiation time: 08:00~18:00/day). Seedlings (n = 63 per $3.3m^2$) of ginseng was planted on May 17, 2018. LED was combined with red and blue light in a 3:1 ratio and irradiated with different light intensity. The average air temperature from April to September was $12.3^{\circ}C$$-26.0^{\circ}C$ and it was the the highest at $26.0^{\circ}C$ in August. The test area where fluorescent lamp was irradiated tended to be somewhat higher than the LED irradiation area. The chemical properties of the test soil are as follows. pH levels was 5.3~5.5, EC levels 0.45~0.52 dS/m and OM levels 33~37%. The total nitrogen content was 0.35~0.47% and the available $P_2O_5$ contents was 13.7~16.0 mg/kg, which was lower than the suitable level of 70~200 mg/kg. Exchangeable cations K and Mg contents were within acceptable ranges, but the Ca contents was $28{\sim}38cmol^+/kg$ levels higher than the permissible level ($2{\sim}6cmol^+/kg$). Germination of ginseng leaves took 8~9 days and the overall germination rate was 70~75%. The photometric characteristics of LED light intensity are as follows. The greater the light intensity, the higher the PAR (Photosynthetic Action Radiation) value, illuminance and solar irradiation. Photosynthetic rate was also increased with higher light intensity was investigated at $1.7{\sim}3.2{\mu}mol\;CO_2/m^2/s$. Leaf temperature ($23.7{\sim}24.8^{\circ}C$) by light intensity was the same trend. The growth of aerial parts (plant height etc.) were generally excellent when irradiated with 3 times the light intensity, the growth of the ginseng aerial parts were excellent as follows. The plant height was 42.6 cm, stem length was 25.2 cm, leaf length was 9.6 cm and stem diameter was 5.0 mm. The growth of underground part (root length etc.) was the same, and the root length was 24.4 cm, the tap root length was 6.0 cm, diameter of taproot was 18.2 mm and the fresh root weight was 17.2 g. There were no disease incidence such as Alternaria blight, Gray mold and Anthracnose. Disease of Damping off occurred 2.2~3.6% and incidence ratio of rusty root ginseng was 14.6~20.7%. Leaf discoloration rate was 13.7~48.9% and increased with increasing light intensity. Ginsenoside content of ginseng by light intensity is under analysis.
This research was conducted to establish appropriate methods to prune tomato side stems during summer. Cherry tomatoes "Unicorn" (Monsanto Korea, Korea) were grown in the coir based growing medium, and irrigation was controlled time based system. There were three pruning treatments: 1) removing all side stems (ACUT), 2) remaining two leaves on the side stems right below any cluster (PCUT), and 3) remaining two leaves on all side stems (LEFT). Experimental results showed that the occurrence of swollen stems, a symptom of nutrient excess, was influenced by side stem pruning due to blocking of consumption of photosynthetic products. The photosynthetic rate was not different between leaves on main stem and those on side shoots. Therefore the differences in the total amounts of photosynthetic products seemed to come out from the differences in leaf areas on each treatments, influencing on fruit yield difference. The yields and harvesting rates were better in ACUT treatment when tomato plants were harvested until $5^{th}$ cluster, however tomato yield was higher in LEFT treatment when more then $5^{th}$ clusters were harvested.

As paprika plants grew in a glass greenhouse from November 2022 to March 2023, the amount of light at each plant height, leaf temperature, transpiration rate, and water vapor pressure were measured. Accumulated leaf temperature was higher at the top of the plant than at the bottom. Over time, the leaf temperature measured around 11-13 AM changed from 26.55→23.21→22.80→26.67℃ in the lower part (pL), and from 26.52→24.48→24.55→27.78℃ in the upper part (pAs). And VPD changed from 1.45→0.94→0.74→1.46kPa in pL and from 1.11→0.86→0.71→1.28kPa in pAs. Accordingly, the transpiration rate changed from 4.25→0.17→4.08→0.52mmol·m-2·s-1 in pL, 7.61→2.45→1.94→4.39→0.52mmol·m-2·s-1 in pAs, and from pAs to pL. It was significantly higher than The difference between the lower and upper parts (pL-pAs) was higher in pAs than pL in leaf temperature, light intensity, and transpiration rate, but the water vapor pressure difference was higher in pL. In this way, paprika shows differences in the environment and photosynthetic factors between the upper and lower parts during the cultivation period, so it is judged that this needs to be taken into consideration in future research.
The objectives of this study were to examine the physiological responses to ozone and to measure ozone uptake rates of Betula species exposed to relatively high concentration of pollutants. At the end of the growing season, photosynthesis, pigments contents, antioxidants (SOD and GR) and ozone uptake rates were measured or estimated at the leaves of five Betula species (Betula costata, B. davurica, B. platyphylla var. japonica, B. schmidtii and B. ermanii) exposed to 100ppb ozone concentration. On the termination of the experiment, growth effects were determined by measuring leaf area and dry weights of leaf, stem and root. Ozone treatment showed the significant reduction the leaf area and dry weight of four Betula species, except for B. ermanii. Shoot / root (SR) ratio of five species represented two different types. SR ratio of B. costata and B. davurica were lower than control, in contrast, SR ratio of B. platyphylla var. japonica, B. schimidtii and B. emani, were higher than that of control. The photosynthetic responses of five species were different in responses to ozone exposure. Four species, except for B. emanii, maintained or increased the stomatal conductance, but B. emanii decreased both stomatal conductance and photosynthesis. SOD activities of five species decreased by the ozone exposure, especially B. ermanii showed the largest reduction, GR activities of B. platyphylla var. japonica and B. schmidtii increased, B. costata and B. emanii decreased. Instantaneous ozone uptake rate was the highest at the leaves of B. ermanii and B. costata, ozone uptake per seedling was the highest at the leaf of B. schmidtii and B. emanii. It was concluded that B. costata, B. davurica and B. platyphylla var. japonica, appeared the growth reduction and visible ozone injury, were sensitive species to ozone, and B. schmidtii with the increased antioxidant activity and B. ermanii without the growth reduction were relatively resistant species to high ozone concentration at the early growing stage.
White spunbonded fabrics has been utilized toy covering in rice seedling nursery. This study, therefore, was carried out to examine the effect of light quality on seedling emergence, growth, morphology, chlorophyll content and photosynthesis to get the information on the color of the fabrics. Blue, red and far-red lights were treated immediately after sowing seeds of three cultivars, Dongjinbyeo, Ilmibyeo and Daesanbyeo. Seedling emergence, growth and morphology, chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate were measured. Seedling emergence rate of Dongjinbyeo and Daesanbyeo was low under far-red light treatment compared to those under blue and red light ones. Although the rate of Ilmibyeo was not different from three light treatments. Far-red light treatment showed similar response in plant height and leaf length, but yee light increased number of roots. Shoot and root dry weight was the highest in blue and red light treatments, respectively. Total dry weight, however, was the lowest under far-red light treatment. While chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate of the three cultivars did not showed consistent response, those were the greatest under red light treatment, and were decreased in order of blue and far-red light treatment.
Cadmium (Cd) is non-essential heavy metal that negatively affects plant metabolism. Nitric oxide (NO) is an increasingly important molecule for plant metabolism that makes signaling. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the alleviating effect of sodium nitroprusside (SNP) application as NO donor in white poplar (Populus alba) under Cd stress conditions. SNP and without SNP treatments increased the Cd accumulation in root tissue. While photosynthetic pigments (Chl a, Chl b, Chl a+b, and carotenoid) content decreased by only Cd application, SNP+Cd application decreased the rate of photosynthetic pigments reduction. When the results of Cd and Cd+SNP applications were evaluated for mineral (Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu) uptake, it was found that the positive effect of SNP was heterogeneously affected. Depending on SNP application, it was found that malondialdehyde (MDA) amount decreased in leaf in 100 µM Cd applications while hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) amount decreased in 100 and 500 µM Cd applications. When antioxidant enzyme activities were examined, it was found that catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) enzyme activities increased with 100 µM SNP applications under all Cd applications. As a result, it was found that SNP application under Cd stress generally supports physiological processes positively in white poplar, suggesting that NO molecule plays important alleviating roles in plant metabolism.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of growing period and cultivars on physiological characteristics and photosynthetic rates of kenaf in Cheorwon, Korea, The possibility of their utilization as forage plant was also discussed. A split plot design composing 3 growing periods (53, 84 and 115 days after sowing) and 3 cultivars (Dowling, Everglade-41 and Tainung-2) was applied for this experiment. Leaf photosynthetic rate was highest 28.6 $CO_2{\mu}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}$ in Everglade-41 at the beginning of August when solar irradiation was most intense. In the final biomass of kenaf, Dowing wa the highest among cultivars, with 534.6g/F.W./plant and 109.6g/D.W./plant, respectively. In addition, Dowling was the best in stem thickness among cultivars evaluated. Our results exhibited that all cultivars planted in Cheorwon exhibited decreased yield production compared to a previous report experimented in Jaeju. It may result that cultivation in Jaeju utilized wider planting space and longer cultivating time. In the basis of our data, it is suggest that extending cultivation time and using wider planting space should increase yield in Cheorwon with potential utilization of kanef as a forage crop.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of atmosphere-leaf vapor pressure deficit (VPD) in Heracleum moellendorffii and Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus. The VPD was rapidly increased with increasing temperature and decreasing relative humidity. Taken as a whole, the stomatal transpiration reaction was slightly late with increasing of VPD. Maximum photosynthetic rate at high-VPD condition was 6.49 µmol CO2·m-2·s-1 in Heracleum moellendorffii Hance, which was a little lower than 5.57 µmol CO2·m-2·s-1 in Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus, respectively. After 2 p.m, stomatal transpiration of Heracleum moellendorffii at the high VPD condition was rapidly decreased. The results indicated that physiological activities in Heracleum moellendorffii are more limited from high VPD conditions.

The present experiments have been conducted to find out the plant's growth environments habitate, mode of life, characteristic of photosynthesis, habit of growth and propagation. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Sambucus williamsii var. Coreana distributes around all sides of native site without having any relation to altitude, inclination and direction. 2. In the native site, Robinia pseudo - acacia and its neighboring species were Prunus yedoensis, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Lindera obtusiloba and Staphylea bumalda. From 21 to 41 types of species were located in the vegetation of the quadrat area. 3. According to the variation of leaf temperature with the result of the change of net photosynthetic rate, the optimum temperature for growth is $25^{\circ}C$. 4. The rooted rate of vegetative propagation was the highest at 100ppm IBA plot and the lowest at 200ppm BA plot. 5. The rooted rates of Sambucus williamsii var. coreana in perlite 50% bed, vermiculite bed and peatmoss 50%+sand 50% bed are higher than others.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of atmosphere-leaf vapor pressure deficit (VPD) in Allium microdictyon Prokh. and Allium ochotense Prokh. The vapor pressure deficit (VPD) was rapidly increased with increasing temperature and decreasing relative humidity. Taken as a whole, the stomatal transpiration reaction was slightly late with increading of VPD. Maximum photosynthetic rate at high-VPD condition was 5.98 ${\mu}mol$$CO_2{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ in Allium microdictyon, which was a little lower than 6.59 ${\mu}mol$$CO_2{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ in Allium ochotense, respectively. After 2 p.m, stomatal transpiration of Allium microdictyon at the high VPD condition were rapidly decreased. Ci/Ca began to decline sharply at 8 a.m and showed the lowest value at 2 p.m, The results showed that Ci/Ca decreased with being used $CO_2$ in the mesophyll intercellular space for photosynthesis. In high VPD condition, The water potential values showed the highest at 5 a.m, and the lowest at 1 p.m in high VPD condition. The water saturation deficits (WSD) in high VPD condition showed about 1.5 times higher than in low VPD condition. The results indicated that physiological activities in Allium microdictyon is more limited from high VPD conditions.
