The purpose of this study is to determine the possibility of using Kalopanax pictus leaf as natural health food source. The contents of proximate and antioxidative nutrients of Kalopanax pictus leaf were measured. The contents of carbohydrate, crude protein, crude lipid and ash were 41.42%, 45.23%, 3.29% and 10.07%, respectively. The calories of Kalopanax pictus leaf was 401.52 kcal/100 g and total dietary fiber was 30.37%. The percentages of water soluble dietary fiber to insoluble dietary fiber were 9.16% and 21.21%, respectively. The protein contained a total of 18 different kinds of amino acids. The contents of essential and non-essential amino acids were 10.51 g/100 g and 17.69 g/100 g. The K was the largest mineral followed by P, Ca, and Mg, which means Kalopanax pictus leaf is alkali material. The contents of saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids were 1.56 g/100 g, 0.11 g/100 g and 1.84 g/100 g, respectively. The antioxidant activity of 70% ethanol extract and fractions of the Kalopanax pictus leaf has been determined by the scavenging of the stable radical DPPH; the result showed that the ethyl acetate fraction was the most active, as the amount required for 50% reduction of DPPH after 30 mins ($RC_{50}$) was $105.7\;{\mu}g$, followed by 70% ethanol extract ($247.3\;{\mu}g$), hexane fraction ($120.7\;{\mu}g$), chloroform ($107.3\;{\mu}g$), butanol fraction ($110.1\;{\mu}g$) and aqueous fraction ($491.9\;{\mu}g$).
In this study, the colorants of Wisteria floribunda leaf were extracted with water. Silk and wool fabrics have been dyed with the aqueous extract of Wisteria floribunda leaf and their dyeabilities was studied. Additionally the fastness to washing, drycleaning, light and perspiration were also investigated. Silk and wool fabrics dyed with the extract of Wisteria floribunda leaf were colored in yellowish red tint. The optimum dyeing condition of the colorants extracted from Wisteria floribunda leaf was three repeated dyeing at 70, $95^{\circ}C$ for 1hr using post mordanting. For dyed silk and wool fabrics, the fastness to washing was improved by mordanting, and the fastness to drycleaning was very outstanding.
In this study, the chemical characteristics of $Aralia$$continentalis$ Kitagawa (AcK) $leaf-kimchi$ prepared using different seasonings were examined during storage. In the analysis, no visible changes in the degree of total vitamin C, reducing sugar and total chlorophyll in the $AcK$$leaf-kimchi$ preserved products were observed over the storage period, and showed a relatively high retention rate was reported. Among the chemicals in the $AcK$$leaf-kimchi$ preserved products, dietary fiber decreased with the storage period, the soluble dietary fiber (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) decreased, and the total dietary fiber(TDF) remained unchanged (5.27~5.56%). Total chlorophyll decreased after the $1^{st}$ month, increased after the 3rd month and then decreased again. The total soluble solid content increased throughout the storage period.

Vegetables are rich sources of dietary fiber, which exhibit various health benefits. In the Republic of Korea, vegetables are consumed after cooking using different methods. However, they are most commonly eaten raw or blanched. In this study, chamnamul, sesame leaf, Fischer's ragwort, burdock root, and garlic stem from Korea were analyzed according to the Korean Food Code, and changes in dietary fiber content after blanching were compared. Blanching reduced the total dietary fiber (TDF) content in chamnamul (from 3.67±0.03 to 2.61±0.14 g/100 g), burdock root (from 4.95±0.40 to 3.89±0.10 g/100 g), and sesame leaf (from 4.32±0.12 to 3.65±0.17 g/100 g), but increased it in Fischer's ragwort (from 6.09±0.49 to 6.43±0.01 g/100 g) and garlic stem (from 4.52±0.35 to 5.09±0.04 g/100 g). Sucrose, glucose, and fructose were detected in the vegetables; however, sesame leaf did not have sucrose. Fresh burdock root had the highest sucrose content (1.71±0.07 g/100 g) whereas garlic stem had the highest glucose and fructose content (1.65±0.02 and 1.73±0.02 g/100 g, respectively) compared with other vegetables. Upon blanching, the free sugar content of vegetables decreased for all sugars except for sucrose, which increased in Fischer's ragwort (from 0.10±0.01 to 0.14±0.01 g/100 g) and garlic stem (from 0.76±0.00 to 0.83±0.01 g/100 g). These results can provide information on blanching-associated changes in the content of dietary fiber and free sugar in foods prepared using these vegetables.
This study was aimed to investigate the nutritional components such as proximate content, minerals, vitamins, and dietary fiber of Euonymus sieboldiana leaves. The leaf sample used was fresh material produced in April in the Republic of Korea. As a result, the fresh leaf sample contained 10.30% crude carbohydrates, 7.42% crude proteins, 0.69% crude fat, and 1.46% crude ash, including a high amount of potassium (0.73%). The total dietary fiber, insoluble dietary fiber, and soluble dietary fiber content was 8.77%, 7.60%, and 1.17%, respectively. Vitamin C was found to be 44.53 mg% using colorimetric analysis. We regarded E. sieboldiana as a potential health food material because of its abundant nutritional components like potassium, dietary fiber, and vitamin C.
Four fibrous feedstuffs from alfalfa meal (AFM), cassava leaf meal (CLM), rubber seed meal (RSM) and leucaena meal (LM) were included in semi-purified diets for growing pig (45 kg body wt.) at 20%, to investigate the effects of these fiber sources and fractions on amino acid digestibility. Cellulose (C), a purified fiber source was included in another diet at 5% level for comparison. The barrows fitted with ileal T-cannula were used in the digestion trials with latin square design. The digestibilities of amino acids were measured at both terminal ileum and fecal level. NDF and hemicellulose content were the highest in AFM-diet whereas LM-diet had the highest ADF and lignin content. RSM-diet contained the highest crude fiber and cellulose content. The digestibilities of amino acids at ileal level were found the highest with CLM-diet, while LM-diet was the least. At fecal level, control diet and CLM-diet were the highest in amino acid digestibility while AFM-diet was the least. The digestibility of amino acids was higher at ileal than fecal level. The digestibility of arginine was not affected with fiber fractions but was found to be the most disestible across all diets. The most depressed amino acid was methionine at both levels; praline and glycine, in the dispensable amino acid group, were depressed at ileal and fecal level, respectively. Lignin did not depress amino acid digestibility in general but specifically depressed methionine, histidine, isoleucine and threonine digestibility. Cellulose content did not affect amino acid digestibility but undesirable factors might be responsible.

In this study, we first analyzed the total polyphenol and flavonoid contents and the antioxidant activity of Dendropanax morbiferus extracts obtained from different parts using different solvents. We then investigated the possibility of producing Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extract loaded polyurethane (PU) nanofibers via electrospinning. The total polyphenol and flavonoid content and the antioxidant activity of the Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extracts obtained distilled water were found to be higher than those of the extracts obtained under other conditions, and it was therefore used to prepare the extracts/PU nanofibers by varying the concentrations of both the Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extract and PU. The most appropriate fiber morphology were when 1.5% and 1.0% of the Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extracts were added to 12% and 13% PU, respectively. Fourier-tranform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyse reveal the successful incorporation of the Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extracts into the PU matrix. In addition, the nanofibers containing this leaf extract were confirmed to exhibit antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus, suggesting the potential usefulness of nanofacial masks containing the Dendropanax morbiferus leaf extract.

The present paper is concerned with the optimal deslgn that the static spring rate of the fiber-reinforcement composite spring is fitted to that of the steel leaf spring. The thickness and w~dth of springs were selected as deslgn variables. And object functions of the regression model were obtained through the analysis with a common analytic program. After regression coefficients were calculated to get functions of the regression model, optimal solutions were calculated with DOT. E-GlassIEpoxy and CarbonIEpoxy were used as fiber reinforcement materials in the design, which were compared and analyzed with the steel leaf spring. It was found that the static spring rate of the optimal model was almost similar to that of the existing spring.
Bamboo leaf powder was added to Chiffon cake to increase its neutraceutical effects and storage periods. Specifically, 0, 7, 10 and 13% leaf powder was added to the cakes. The content of total dietary fiber in the bamboo leaf powder was 65.57%. The moisture content did not differ significantly among groups. The cake containing 10% bamboo leaf powder had the greatest volume, whereas the control group (0% bamboo leaf powder) had the lowest volume (p<0.05). The Hunter's L and a values decreased significantly as the amount of bamboo leaf powder increased. The b value of the control was lowest among the groups (p<0.05). Evaluation of the consumer acceptance of flavor revealed that the cakes containing the added bamboo leaf had greater consumer acceptance than the control. However, when the color was evaluated, the 13% group showed the lowest acceptance (p<0.05). Other factors such as texture, taste and overall acceptance did not differ significantly among groups. Additionally, the elasticity did not differ among groups, while the air cells were most uniform in the control. The strength of bamboo leaf aroma, bitter taste and aftertaste increased as the amount of bamboo leaf powder added increased. Cakes containing 10% and 13% added powder had the greatest moisture content, while the control had the lowest content (p<0.05). As in previous studies, the results of this study indicated that 10% bamboo leaf powder was the optimal level for the preparation of Chiffon cake. To evaluate the storage of cakes, the 10% group and the control were inoculated with Aspergillus oryzae and then incubated at $30^{\circ}C$ for 6 days. The microbial colony counts in the control group were dramatically increased after 48 hrs; however, the fungal concentration of the 10% group did not increase for 4 days. In conclusion, the addition of 10% bamboo leaf powder to Chiffon cake increased the storage time while maintaining adequate consumer acceptance.
