During radiation therapy with electron beam to eyelid, we must keep the minimal dose on eyeball as possible. especially in the treatment of Sebaceous gland carcinoma, Squamouse cell ca., and basal cell ca. of eyelid and low grade MALToma etc. But if radiation field covered the upper & lower eyelid, it makes a cataract on lens of treated eye, in late complications. Now we reports the advantages of Tungsten eyeball shielding block compare to previously used lead block. with BOLX-I material, we made a eyeball model and measured the absorbed dose of 6MeV & 9MeV electron hem at 6 point of eyeball model with TLD chip. And compare the absorbed dose to previously lead block and other types of Tungsten eyeball shielding block.
Among brain CT scan conditions including the lens, the tube voltage was changed to 80, 100, and 120 kVp and applied. The change in dose was analyzed using lead, lead goggles and barium sulfate silicon shielding materials, and the degree of influence of the shielding materials on image quality was compared and analyzed by applying the SNR, CNR, and SSIM index analysis methods. As a result, it was analyzed that although the dose was reduced by applying all shielding materials, the difference in dose reduction was not large (P > 0.05). In addition, as for the change in image quality due to the application of the shielding material, SNR and CNR were the highest when lead goggles were applied, and the structural similarity was measured to be the best as it was closest to the reference value of 1 in SSIM analysis. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is thought that if more diverse shielding materials and clinical test results are derived and applied, it will be helpful for the clinical application criteria in the case of shielding utilization inspection.

The present study used a digital angiography x-ray device to measure the space dose and exposure dose of patients and practitioners using x-ray tube shielding devices developed in our laboratory. The intent of the study was to reduce the space dose within the test room, and to reduce the exposure dose of patients and practitioners. The patient and practitioner exposure doses were measured in five configurations in a human body model. The glass dosimeter was placed on the eye lenses, thyroid glands, left shoulder, right shoulder, and gonads. The beam was collimated at full size and at a 48% reduction for a comparative analysis of the measurements. The space dose was measured with an ion chamber at distances of 50 cm, 100 cm, and 150 cm from the x-ray tube under the following conditions: no shielding device; a shielding device made of 3-mm-thick lead (Pb) [Pb 3 mm shield], and a shielding device made of 3-mm-thick Pb (outside) and 3-mm-thick aluminum (Al) (inside) [Pb 3 mm+Al 3 mm shield]. The absorbed dose was the lowest when the 3-mm-thick Pb+3-mm-thick Al shield was used. For measurements made with collimated beams with a 48% reduction, the dose was the lowest at $154{\mu}Gy$ when the 3-mm-thick Pb+3-mm-thick Al shield was used, and was $9{\mu}Gy$ lower than the measurements made with no shielding device. If the space dose can be reduced by 20% in all situations where the C-arm is employed by using the x-ray tube shielding devices developed in our laboratory, this is expected to play an important role in reducing the annual exposure dose for patients, practitioners, and assistants.

For shallow tunnel constructions, settlement of the ground surface is a main issue. Recent technical developments in shield TBM tunneling technique have enabled a decrease in such settlements based on tunneling with ground deformation controls. For this objective, the tail void grouting is a common practice. Generally surface settlements in a soil of low permeability occur during a tunnel construction but also during a long period after completion of the tunnel. The long-term settlements occur mainly due to consolidation around the tunnel. The consolidation process is caused and determined by the tail void grouting which leads to an excess pore water pressure in the vicinity of the tunnel. Because of this, the grouting pressure has a strong effect on the long-term settlements in the shield tunneling. In order to investigate this effect, a series of coupled hydro-mechanical 3D finite element simulations have been performed. The results show that an increase in grouting pressure reduces the short-term settlements, but in many cases, it doesn't lead to a reduction of the final settlements after the completion of consolidation. Thereby, the existence of a critical grouting pressure is identified, at which the minimal settlements are expected.
Purpose Yttrium-90 (Y-90) is high-energy beta emitters ($E{\beta}$, max = 2.28 MeV) with the mean penetration depth of 2.5 mm in tissue. Radioactive microspheres containing Y-90 is widely used for the transarterial radioembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma. However, bremsstrahlung radiation from Y-90 can cause the external radiation exposure to medical staff who handle the Y-90 microspheres. In this study, shielding device for Y-90 microspheres was developed to minimize the external radiation exposure. Materials and Methods Y-90 microsphere shielding device was made from 6 mm thicknesses of tungsten including the lead glass window. Radiation shielding ability of Y-90 microsphere shielding device was evaluated using 4 GBq of $SIR-Spheres^{(R)}$ Y-90 microspheres. The bremsstrahlung radiation was measured using radiation survey meter. Results The mean radiation dose of Y-90 microspheres in acrylic shield was $261.7{\pm}2.3{\mu}Sv/h$ (n=5) at 10 cm away from the shield. With the additional tungsten shielding device, it was $23.7{\pm}1.3{\mu}Sv/h$ (n=5). Thus, the bremsstrahlung radiation dose was decreased by 90.9%. At 50 cm away from the shield, bremsstrahlung radiation was reduced by 89.2% after using tungsten shielding device. Conclusion During the preparation and radioembolization of Y-90 microsphere, medical staff are exposed to external radiation. In this study, we demonstrated that the use of tungsten shielding device devices significantly reduced the amount of bremsstrahlung radiation. Y-90 microsphere tungsten shielding device can be highly effective in reducing the bremsstrahlung radiation.

Currently, due to industrial development in domestic regions, buildings are saturated not only in major city centers but also in surrounding urban areas. Accordingly, people's attention has focused on underground spaces, and tunnels are being widely used, especially in urban development. Research on tunnels and tunnel excavation methods is actively underway. However, there is a lack of research on the wear and tear problems of sludge discharge pipes when using a slurry shield TBM. Therefore, in this paper, the L-shaped bend pipe used in the existing sludge discharge pipe was transformed into a T-shaped bend pipe to move sludge. As a result, it was confirmed that compared to the L-shaped bend pipe, the impact of the T-shaped bend pipe on the bend pipe when discharging sludge was reduced. Based on these results, it is expected that wear of the sludge discharge pipe can be minimized by using a T-shaped bend pipe when using slurry shield TBM equipment. This is expected to ultimately lead to economic benefits, such as reducing costs due to replacement of curved pipes or additional welding during tunnel construction.
The purpose of this study is to derive a lead thickness calculation formula for direct-shielded doors based on NCRP Report No.151 and IAEA Safety Report Series N0.47. After deriving the dose rate calculation formula for the direct shielded door, this formula was substituted for the lead shielding thickness calculation formula to derive the shielding thickness calculation formula at the door. The lead shielding thickness calculated from the derived direct shielded door shielding thickness calculation formula was about 6% lower than that calculated by the NCRP and IAEA secondary barrier shielding thickness calculation methods. This result is interpreted as meaning that the thickness calculation is more conservative from the NCRP and IAEA secondary barrier shielding thickness calculation methods and fits well for secondary beam shielding. In conclusion, it is thought that the formula for calculating lead shielding thickness of the direct shielded door derived in this study can be usefully used in the shield design of the door.
The mechanical features evaluated theoretically using Makishima-Mackenzie's model for glasses xBaO-(50-x) PbO-50P2O5 where x = 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50 mol%. Wherefore, the elastic characteristics; Young's, bulk, shear, and longitudinal modulus calculated. The obtained result showed an increase in the calculated values of elastic moduli with the replacement of the PbO by BaO contents. Moreover, the Poisson ratio, micro-hardness, and the softening temperature calculated for the investigated glasses. Besides, gamma and neutron shielding ability evaluated for the barium doped lead phosphate glasses. Monte Caro code (MCNP-5) and the Phy-X/PSD program applied to estimate the mass attenuation coefficient of the studied glasses. The decrease in the PbO ratio has a negative effect on the MAC. The highest MAC decreased from 65.896 cm2/g to 32.711 cm2/g at 0.015 MeV for BPP0 and BPP7, respectively. The calculated values of EBF and EABF showed that replacement of PbO with BaO contents in the studied BPP glasses helps to reduce the number of photons accumulated inside the studied BPP glasses.
This study considered the effects on the seabed of a harbor and quay wall from ship maneuvers in relation to the thruster jet flow and initial velocity. This study also included the engine capacity, RPM, and diameter and pitch of a ship's thruster for a required speed. The impact of a scour hole on the environment of a quay wall was investigated. Based on these results, a risk based analysis was conducted to evaluate different strategies and their consequences. There has been an increase in the loads on the bottom of a harbor during ship maneuvering. This increase is caused by the propeller loads of mooring and unmooring vessels. This indicates a greater number of arrivals and departures of vessels with larger drafts, larger thruster diameters, and larger available thruster power capacities. Another important cause could be an increase in the maneuverability of vessels from the use of bow thrusters. The increasing loads, which cause a higher jet flow above the bottom, can lead to undesirable scour holes.

An intermediate cooling is indispensible to reduce the refrigeration power at superconducting system that is cooled conductively by a cryocooler without liquid cryogens. The cooling load at the intermediate stage is caused by the mechanical supports, the radiation shield and the current lead. From the cooling load calculation, a thermodynamic analysis that take into account the temperature-dependent properties of the materials and the actual performance of the cryocooler is developed. For any given physical dimensions of the various components, it is shown that there exist a unique optimum for the intermediate temperature to minimize the overall refrigeration power. The results of this study can be usefully applied to the selection of the cryocooler as well as the design of the conduction-cooled cryostat.
