A 3-month-old male, Cocker Spaniel with persistent regurgitation immediately after weaning and stunted growth was referred. Radiographic findings on the lateral view include ventral deviation of the thoracic trachea caused by draping of the dilated esophagus and a distinct interface of the dorsal wall of the esophagus silhouetting with the cranial thoracic hypaxial muscles. On the ventrodorsal view, the cranial mediastinum was widened with soft tissue opacity. The trachea was deviated to the right. In an esophagogram, the segmental dilation of the esophagus with constriction of the lumen just cranial to the heart base was identified. In a fluoroscopic examination, the contrast medium was massively accumulated in the cranial portion of the constricted esophagus. At surgery, it was confirmed that the esophageal tract was constricted at the cranial to the base of the heart by aberrant right subclavian artery. It was ligated and divided surgically. Current state of the referred is maintained normal condition from the surgical repair.
In this paper, Analysis of parameters effecting on the derailment factor was conducted in oder to deduce technical requisites have to be reflected in design of Track and rolling-stocks because it is important to grasp the risk of derailment quantitatively. And then go far toward becoming practical study with that select two section of sharp curved track of actual train in service, incheon Metro Line 1 and make field research in condition of vehicles and track and analysis As a result of parameter study, the following conclusions were obtained. The radius of curve and Cant is in inverse proportion to the derailment factor, but as train operation velocity, standard deviation of alignment irregularity and the ratio lateral force : wheel load of the inside track increase, the derailment factor rise. In the investigation for the derailment safety of incheon Metro Line 1, the derailment factor was below 0.43 in both section R=200 and R=300, so that it proved safe compare with allowance limits 0.8, but it appeared that risk of the derailment in second transition curve is the highest among the entire curve.
Purpose: Diagnosis of osteoarthritis most commonly depends on clinical and radiographic findings. The present study attempted to observe the bony changes in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) patients from all age groups. Materials and Methods: The first-visit clinical records and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data of 440 TMJs from 220 consecutive TMJ patients were reviewed retrospectively. Results: The most frequent condylar bony change observed was sclerosis (133 joints, 30.2%) followed by surface erosion (129 joints, 29.3%), flattening of the articular surface (112 joints, 25.5%), and deviation in form (58 joints, 13.2%), which included 33 TMJs in a cane-shape, 16 with a lateral or medial pole depression, 6 with posterior condylar surface flattening, and 3 with a bifid-shaped condyle. Fifty-three joints (12.0%) showed hypoplastic condyles but only 1 joint showed hyperplasia. Osteophyte was found in 35 joints (8.0%) and subcortical cyst in 24 joints (5.5%), 5 of which had surface erosion as well. One hundred nineteen joints (27.0%) had only one kind of condylar bony change, 66 joints (15.0%) had two, 52 joints (11.8%) had three, 12 joints (5.0%) had four, and 6 joints (1.4%) had five kinds of condylar bony changes at the same time. Eighty-five (65.9%) of 129 joints with surface erosion had pain recorded at the chief complaint. Conclusion: With more widespread use of CBCT, more specific or detailed guidelines for osteoarthritis are needed.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlationship between Pantographic Reproducibility Index(PRI) scores and patterns of mandibular movements by mandibular kinesiograph(MKG) that has been used to diagnose temporomandibular disorders. PRI scores have been measured in normal and symptom groups by tracing Denar mechanical pantograph. Maximum lateral deviation, opening & closing velocity, and clinical rest position of mandibular movements have been analyzed in the same group when the mandible is opened and closed. According to to Helkimo's Dysfunction Index, the students and graduates of College of Dentistry are classified as 6 normal groups and 42 symptom groups. The obtained reslts are as follows : 1. The mean of PRI scores was larger in symptom groups than in normal groups. 2. The mean of maximal laterotrusion in frontal trajectory was larger in symptom groups than in normal groups. 3. There was little significant correlationship observed between PRI scores and patterns of mandibular movements by MKG.
In industrial designing of ready-to-wear shoes, one important factor to consider is that the population has diverse fooot shapes as well as foot length. The general shape of a foot could be represented by "foot ratio", i.e. the ratio of width to length. In this study, we measured several dey aspects of young Korean men's foot, and compared the results with their shoe sizes and general foot shapes. To this end, 172 male subjects were categorized according to their shoe size (small, medium, large) or foot ratio (wide, narrow, intermediate). The statistics of this survey indicated that the people with narrow foot shap have significantly greater foot length compared with the one having wide foot shape. Conversely, subjects having wide foot shape manifested significantly greater foot and ankle girth as well as significantly greater foot breadth. However, different foot shape groups showed no significant differences in heel width, heel ankle girth, instep height, and malleolus height. On the other hand, subjects wearing larger shoe size showed significantly larger foot measurements except instep and ankle heights, whereas subjects with shoe sizes 260 and below measured significantly more narrow heel and lateral metatarsal breadths. The deviation between foot length and dress shoe size(length) was greater in groups with wide foot shape and in groups wearing large shoe sizes. The results of this survey indicated that the subjects with wide foot shape apparently choose a size or two larger shoes for them as a compromise for a better breadth fit.eadth fit.
The purpose of this study was to verify the class I molar relationship in skeletal class II and class II molar relationship in skeletal clan I malocclusion with unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion. The sample consisted of lateral cephalometric radiographs and upper and lower dental casts of 30 unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Skeletal class I malocclusion was $43\%$, and skeletal class II malocclusion was $57\%$ in 30 cases of unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion. 2. In the skeletal class II with unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion, mandibular first molar on the class I side showed more mesial migration than the opposite side. 3. In the skeletal class I with unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion, maxillary first molar on the class II side showed more mesial migration than the opposite side. 4. Midline deviation of upper or lower dental arch was $90\%$ in 30 cases of unilateral class II, division 1 malocclusion.
The quadrilateral analysis is a proportional analysis which evaluates the skeletal configuration of lower face on the relations between both jaws in the horizontal as we]1 as vortical dimensions. This study was undertaken to analyse the harmony and disharmony of quadrilateral patterns in normal occlusion and malocclusion. The present study was carried out on lateral cephalograms of 530 Korean children; the subjects consisted of 135 normal occlusions (63 male and 72 female), 105 Class II division 1 malocclusions (52 male and 53 female), 109 Class III malocclusions (50 male and 59 female), 91 hypodivergent facial types (44 male and 47 female) and 90 hyperdivergent facial types (45 male and 45 female). The following conclusions were reached: 1. Means and standard deviation in each group and sex were obtained from normal occlusion and malocclusion. 2. Quadrilateral mean diagram in normal occlusion was constructed for male and female, respectively. 3. In normal occlusion, 1:1 ratio exists between the maxillary base length (A' to Ptm') and mandibular base length (B' to J'), but lower facial height is targer than above. 4. Difference is effective to estimate the degrees of Class II and Class III malocclusion, and lower facial height (LFH) and sagittal angle is effective to recognize the hypodivergent and hyperdivergent facial type. 5. Quadrilateral analysis is able to visualize the anteroposterior and vertical dysplasia of lower face, and it is helpful to recognize certain problems in malocclusion.
The author has studied on the clinical features and symptomatology of 97 MPDS patients, who visited the Dept. of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University, from January to September in 1982. The results were as follow : In age and sex distribution of patients in this population, the third decades appeared to have the highest prevalence and the male to female ratio was almost 1 to 2.23. As to occupation, students and housewives were revealed to have the highest incidence of MPDS. The chief complaints of patients were pains, TMJ noises, and limitation of mouth opening in order of frequency, and the most prevalent site of symptom was that of preauricular area. In symptom sequence, the majority of initial symptoms were TMJ noise and pain but limitation of mandibular movement was progressively developed, regardless of nature of early symptoms. Chronic unfavorable oral habits were found to be the most possible predisposing factors in this study. The average maximum interincisal distance was $38.13\pm10.00mm$ in males and $30.73\pm8.75mm$ in females, and a deviation of mandible during mouth opening was observed in 60.8% of patients. In TMJ signs, tenderness of the TMJ to palpation was found in 60.8% of patients and TMJ noise was audible in 50.5% of patients with a stethoscope. The muscles of masticatory system were palpated according to usual methods, and a significant indidence of muscular tenderness was present, with the lateral pteygoid muscles being most frequently involved, followed by masseter, medical pterygoid and temporalis muscles.
Background: The purpose of this study was to assessment of posture sway on static standing in the elderly. Methods: The participants aged 60 to 90 years, were divided into age such 60s, 70s and 80s and with a history of exercise, arthritis and hang on one's stick. Posture sway were analyzed using the computerized BPM system. Each test was repeated three times. All the data were expressed means and standard deviation by using SPSS 12.0 program. Results: The posture sway test according to sex showed that mean balance, sway number and frequency performance were significantly stable in men than in women. All direction frequency, sway area, sway path and max velocity were significantly unstable in 80s than 70s and 60s. The results of the posture sway test according to exercise group, arthritis and hang on one's stick group were showed that mean balance function was significantly stable in exercise group than arthritis and stick groups. The weight was showed significant correlation by mean balance, sway no, frequency, sway area, sway path and max velocity. Sway area and max velocity were not significant correlation by frequency of lateral and left, right anterior and posterior direction. Conclusion: In this study was showed that posture sway was effected from health condition of elderly.
Motile cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 cells show photomovement with respect to the light stimulus. Under lateral irradiation, Synechocystis displays a phototactic gliding movement toward the light source by a twodimensional random biased walk. Under vertical irradiation, Synechocystis decreased the frequency of mean vectorial gliding speed dependent on the applied fluence rate, whereas the deviation distribution width of the speed increased. This strongly suggests the involvement of photokinesis. Evidence for the cyanobacterial photokinesis was discussed in the previous report (Choi et al., 1999. Photochem. Photobiol. 70, 95-102) demonstrating that the gross scalar speed of vertically irradiating cells increased by about 50% compared with that of dark-adapted cells. In the visible wavelength range, Synechocystis cells showed a maximal photokinetic activity at 420 nm and a second maximal activity at 680 nm. The threshold action spectrum for the photokinesis resembles the absorption spectrum of chlorophyll with major differences in the phototaxis action spectrum at 560 nm and 660 nm. We postulate that the cyanobacterial photokinesis is powered by the energy-generating chlorophyll pigments.
