무질서하게 분포된 산란매질에서 빔전파의 확산에 관한 검증 (Verification on Diffusion of Beam Propagation in Randomly Distributed Scattering Medium)

  • The distribution of light in a randomly scattering medium can represent problems found in many area. Particularly, in the clinical application of lasers for Photodynamic therapy(PDT) or in the fluorescence spectroscopy for biological tissue, turbidity plays a very important role. The influences of fluorophor, scatterer, and absorber in turbid material by light scattering were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength. The molecular properties have been studied by laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy in scattering medium as tissue. It has been found that the effects of optical properties in scattering media could be investigated by the optical $parameters({\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$ ,${\mu}t)$. Experimental and Monte Carlo simulation method for modelling light transport in tissue was applied. The experimental results using a randomly distributed scattering medium were discussed and compared with those obtained through Monte Carlo simulation. It'll be also important in designing the best model for oil chemistry, medicine and application of medical engineering.

무인 로봇의 효율적 야지 주행을 위한 최대 구동력 추정 (Predicting Maximum Traction for Improving Traversability of Unmanned Robots on Rough Terrain)

  • This paper proposes a method to predict maximum traction for unmanned robots on rough terrain in order to improve traversability. For a traction prediction, we use a friction-slip model based on modified Brixius model derived empirically in terramechanics which is a function of mobility number $B_n$ and slip ratio S. A friction-slip model includes characteristics of various rough terrains where robots are operated such as soil, sandy soil and grass-covered soil. Using a friction-slip model, we build a prediction model for terrain parameters on which we can know maximum static friction and optimal slip with respect to mobility number $B_n$. In this paper, Mobility number $B_n$ is estimated by modified Willoughby Sinkage model which is a function of sinkage z and slip ratio S. Therefore, if sinkage z and slip ratio are measured once by sensors such as a laser sensor and a velocity sensor, then mobility number $B_n$ is estimated and maximum traction is predicted through a prediction model for terrain parameters. Estimation results for maximum traction are shown on simulation using MATLAB. Prediction Performance for maximum traction of various terrains is evaluated as high accuracy by analyzing estimation errors.

가이거모드 영상 LADAR 시스템의 시뮬레이션과 성능예측 (Simulation and Performance Assessment of a Geiger-mode Imaging LADAR System)

  • LADAR systems can rapidly acquire 3D point clouds by sampling the target surfaces using laser pulses. Such point clouds are widely used for diverse applications such as DSM/DTM generation, forest biomass estimation, target detection, wire avoidance and so on. Many kinds of LADAR systems have been developed with their respective purposes and applications. Particularly, Geiger mode imaging LADAR systems are increasingly utilized since they are energy efficient thank to extremely sensitive detectors incorporated into the systems. The purpose of this research is the performance assessment of a Geiger mode imaging LADAR system based on simulation with the real system parameters. We thus developed a simulation method of such a LADAR system by modeling its geometric, radiometric, optic and electronic aspects. Based on the simulation, we performed the performance assessment of a newly designed system to derive the outlier ratio and false alarm rate expected during its operation in almost real environment with reasonable system parameters. The proposed simulation and performance assessment method will be effectively utilized for system design and optimization, and test data generation.

Photophysical and Electrochmical Studies of N,N-Bis (2,5-di-tert-butylphenyl) - 3,4,9,10 perylenebis (dicarboximide) (DBPI)

  • The titled dye of DBPI gives amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) with maximum at 580 nm upon pumping by nitrogen laser (${\lambda}_{ex}\;=\;337.1\;nm$). The ground state absorption cross section (${\sigma}_A$) and emission cross section (${\sigma}_E$) as well as effective emission cross section(${\sigma}^*_E$) have been determined. The electronic absorption spectra of DBPI were measured in ethanol and tetrahydrofuran at room and low temperature. DBPI displays molecular aggregation in water. The photochemical reactivity of DBPI was also studied in carbon tetrachloride upon irradiation with 525 nm light. The electrochemical investigation of DBPI dye has been carried out using cyclic voltammetry and convolution deconvolution voltammetry combined with digital simulation technique at a platinum electrode in 0.1 mol/L tetrabutyl ammonium perchlorate (TBAP) in two different solvents acetonitrile ($CH_3CN$) and dimethylformamide (DMF). The species were reduced via consumption of two sequential electrons to form radical anion and dianion (EE mechanism). In switching the potential to positive direction, the compound was oxidized by loss of two sequential electrons, which were followed by a fast dimerization and/or aggregation process i.e $EC_{dim1}EC_{dim2}$ mechanism. The electrode reaction pathway and the chemical and electrochemical parameters of the investigated compound were determined using cyclic and convolutive voltammetry. The extracted electrochemical parameters were verified and confirmed via digital simulation method.

Effective Strategy for Precise Orbital and Geodetic Parameter Estimation Using SLR Observations for ILRS AAC

  • In this study, we propose an effective strategy for precise orbital and geodetic parameter estimation using SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) observations for ILRS AAC (Associate Analysis Center). The NASA/GSFC GEODYN II software and SLR normal point observations of LAGEOS-1, LAGEOS-2, ETALON-1, and ETALON-2 are utilized for precise orbital and geodetic parameter estimation. Weekly-based precise orbit determination strategy is applied to process SLR observations, and Precise Orbit Ephemeris (POE), TRF (Terrestrial Reference Frame), and EOPs (Earth Orientation Parameters) are obtained as products of ILRS AAC. For improved estimation results, selection strategies of dynamic and measurement models are experimently figured out and configurations of various estimation parameters are also carefully chosen. The results of orbit accuracy assessment of POE and precision analysis of TRF/EOPs for each case are compared with those of existing results. Finally, we find an appropriate strategy for precise orbital and geodetic parameter estimation using SLR observations for ILRS AAC.

Effects of Sputter Parameters on Electrochromic Properties of Tungsten Oxide Thin Films Grown by RF Sputtering

  • The electrochromic properties of tungsten oxide films grown by RF sputtering were investigated. Among the sputter parameters, first the $Ar:O_2$ ratios were controlled with division into only an $O_2$ environment, 1:1 and 4:1. The structure of each film prepared by these conditions was studied by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy. The sputter-deposited tungsten oxide films had an amorphous structure regardless of the $Ar:O_2$ ratios. The chemical compositions, however, were different from each other. The stoichiometric structure and low-density film was obtained at higher $O_2$ contents. Electrochemical tests were performed by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry at 0.05 M $H_2SO_4$ solutions. The current density and charge ratio was estimated during the continuous potential and pulse potential cycling at -0.5 V and 1.8 V, respectively. The film grown in a higher oxygen environment had a higher current density and a reversible charge reaction during intercalation and deintercalation. The in-situ transmittance tests were performed by He-Ne laser (633 nm). At higher oxygen contents, a big transmittance difference was observed but the response speed was too slow. This was likely caused by higher film resistivity. Furthermore, the effect of sputtering pressure was also investigated. The structure and surface morphology of each film was observed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. A rough surface was observed at higher sputtering pressure, and this affected the higher transmittance difference and coloration efficiency.

입자의 형태적 특성을 활용한 퇴적물 입도분석 (Grain Size Analysis Using Morphological Properties of Grains)

  • Grain size analysis is the most basic procedure for identifying the origin, transport and sedimentation processes of sediments, and is widely used in geomorphology and sedimentology. Traditionally, grain size was determined by a sieve-pippette method, but the use of automated analyzers is increasing in recent years. These analyzers have many advantages over traditional techniques, but the measurement results are not always the same. It is still difficult to solve the pretreatment problem such as incomplete diffusion and residual organic matter, and inappropriate results may be obtained. This study compared image-based grain size analysis and sieve analysis to verify its statistical reliability, and conducted experiments to enhance the measurement accuracy using shape parameters. The results showed that the image-based analysis overestimated the grain size of sand dunes by about 7% compared to the sieve analysis, but the two measurements were not statistically different. In addition, by using shape parameters, such as aspect ratio, sphericity, and convexity, improved statistics were obtained compared to the original data. Using the morphological properties of the individual grains is a complementary method to the incomplete pretreatment of the grain size analysis process, and at the same time, it will contribute to improving the accuracy and reliability of the results.

  • Aluminum-induced crystallization (AIC) as a route to reduce the fabrication cost and to obtain polycrystalline Si (p-Si) thin-film of large grain size is a promising alternative of single-crystalline (s-Si) substrate or p-Si thin-film obtained by conventional methods such as solid phase crystallization (SPC) and laser-induced crystallization (LIC). As the AIC process occurs at the interface between a-Si and Al thin-films, there are various process and interface parameters. Also, it directly means that there is a certain parametric window to obtain p-Si of large grain size having uniform crystal orientation. In this article, we investigate the effect of the various process and interface parameters to obtain p-Si of large grain size and uniform crystal orientation from the literature review. We also suggest the potential use of the p-Si as a virtual substrate for the growth of various compound semiconductors in a form of low-dimension as well as thin-film as a way for their monolithic integration on Si.

  • 본 논문에서는 1 KW CW CO$_{2}$레이저 발생자장치를 사용하여 표면경화 처리 를 행할때 공정과 관련된 변수들이 용접부 및 표면경화층에 미치는 영향들을 이론과 실험을 통해서 규명하고, 이 결과들을 실제공정에 사용할 수 있는 기초자료로서 제시 하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 해석에 사용될 수 있는 유한요소법(Finite Element Meth- od)에 근거한 2차원 열유동 해석용 프로그램 및 데이타 처리 프로그램을 개발하고, 중 탄소강에 레이저 표면처리를 수행하여 실험 및 이론해석의 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 비교 검토하여 그 설정기준을 고찰하였다.

PPLN 비선형 결정과 이중통과법을 이용한 DOFA 시스템에서 증폭된 연속발진형 파장가변 적외선 레이저광의 제 2고조파 발생 (Double-pass Second Harmonics Generation of Tunable CW Infrared Laser Beam of DOFA System in Periodically Poled LiNbO3)

  • 주기적으로 분극 반전된 비선형 결정 중에 하나인 PPLN(Periodically Poled MgO(5%) doped Lithium Niobate)과 수 W급의 고출력 연속발진형 파장가변 적외선 레이저 시스템인 DOFA(Diode Laser Oscillator & Fiber Amplifier) 시스템을 이용하여, 이 결정에서 펌핑광을 한번 통과시키는 단일통과와 두 번 통과시키는 이중통과에서의 효율적인 제2고조파 발생 조건을 실험적으로 구하였다. 단일통과에서는 최적의 위상정합온도 $108.9^{\circ}C$에서 최대 출력 2.45 W의 적외선(파장 = 1070 nm) 펌핑광을 사용하여 최대 245 mW의 녹색광원(파장 = 535 nm)인 제 2고조파를 만들었고, 이때의 주파수 변환 효율은 10%였다. 또한 제 2고조파 발생의 효율을 증가시키기 위해서 되 반사용 오목거울과 위상보정을 위한 쐐기유리판을 이용하여 이중통과의 제2고조파 발생장치를 구성하였다. 이때 최적의 위상정합온도 $108.5^{\circ}C$에서 최대 출력 2.45 W의 적외선(파장 = 1070 nm) 펌핑광을 사용하여 최대 383 mW의 녹색광원(파장 = 535 nm)인 제 2고조파를 만들었다. 이때의 변환 효율은 15.6%로써 단일통과에서의 제 2고조파 발생 효율보다 크게 증가함을 확인하였다.
