직접 분사식 연료 분무에서의 기.액상 분리 계측에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Analysis of Liquid/Vapor Phase in GDI Spray)

  • For this research an extension of the LIF technique that the LIEF(Laser Induced Exciplex Fluorescence) technique has been used LIEF technique is the unique method to allows the visualization of fuel vapor phase and liquid phase individually by capturing each signals of them. In this work performed that the basic procedure for advanced LIEF technique using TEA and benzene as dopants md high power KrF excimer laser to excite the dopants. Iso-octane is used as the fuel because it does not absorb light at the laser wavelength. The boiling point of benzene and TEA are $81^{\circ}C\;and89^{\circ}C$, respectively, in comparison to $99^{\circ}C$ for iso-octane. It is observed that the behavior and distribution of high pressed fuel injection from various test condition. The injection pressure is set as 3MPa. and 5MPa. And the ambient pressure of test chamber is atmospheric pressure and 1MPa, the ambient temperature of chamber is room temperature, $300^{\circ}C\;and\;500^{\circ}C$ to imitate the condition of GDI engine cylinder.

  • In this paper, we introduced a LIF measurement method and summarized the theoretical side. When an altered wavelength of laser and electric power, lamp applied electric power, we measured the relative density of the metastable state in mercury after observing a laser induced fluorescence signal of 404.8nm and 546.2nm, and confirmed the horizontal distribution of plasma density in the discharge lamp. The results confirmed the resonance phenomenon regarding the energy level of atoms along a wavelength change, and also confirmed that the largest fluorescent signal in 436nm, and that the density of atoms in 546.2nm $(6^3S_1{\rightarrow }6^3P_2)$ were larger than 404.8nm $(6^3S_1{\rightarrow}6^3P_1)$. According to the increase of lamp applied electric power, plasma density increased, too. When increased with laser electric power, the LIF signal reached a saturation state in more than 2.6mJ. When partial plasma density distribution along a horizontal axis was measured using the laser induced fluorescence method, the density decreased by recombination away from the center.

Hyperspectral Fluorescence Imaging for Mouse Skin Tumor Detection

  • This paper presents a hyperspectral imaging technique based on laser-induced fluorescence for non-invasive detection of tumorous tissue on mouse skin. Hyperspectral imaging sensors collect image data in a number of narrow, adjacent spectral bands. Such high-resolution measurement of spectral information reveals contiguous emission spectra at each image pixel useful for the characterization of constituent materials. The hyperspectral image data used in this study are fluorescence images of mouse skin consisting of 21 spectral bands in the visible spectrum of the wavelengths ranging from 440 nm to 640 nm. Fluorescence signal is measured with the use of laser excitation at 337 nm. An acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) is used to capture images at 10 nm intervals. All spectral band images are spatially registered with the reference band image at 490 nm to obtain exact pixel correspondences by compensating the spatial offsets caused by the refraction differences in AOTF at different wavelengths during the image capture procedure. The unique fluorescence spectral signatures demonstrate a good separation to differentiate malignant tumors from normal tissues for rapid detection of skin cancers without biopsy.

  • Characteristics of the lifted flame which is generated by issuing of the fuel through the miniature nozzle, d=0.164 mm, are studied using the planar laser induced fluorescence technique. OH radical is excited on the $Q_1$(8) line of the $A^2{\Sigma}\ ^+{\leftarrow}\ X^2{\prod}$ (1,0) band transition(283.55 nm) and LIF signals are captured at the bands of (0,0) and (1,1) transition(306-326 nm) using the filters and ICCD camera. Hydroxyl radical(OH) profile for nozzle attached flame shows that OH radical populations at the flame sides and flame tip are larger than those at the base. But for the lifted flame (tribrachial flame) case, those are larger at the flame base than at the flame tip and flame sides. The OH radical is more dense near the center line of flame base at the blowing out. This fact proves the Chung and Lee's blowout theory - blowout occurs when the flame is anchored at the flame axis.

  • The investigation of liquid fuel film on the cylinder liner is an essential to understand the engine-out hydrocarbon emissions formation in SI engines. In this research, two-dimensional visualization was carried out to investigate the liquid fuel film on the quartz liner in the optical engine. For this, the optical engine with hydraulic system was designed based on the commercial SI engine. The visualization was based on the laser-induced fluorescence with total reflection technique. Using a quartz liner and a special lens, only the liquid fuel film on the liner was visualized. With using this technique, the distribution of the fuel film on the cylinder liner was measured for different engine conditions and injection timing in the optical engine.

  • 대기 중에서 HOx(OH, H $O_2$) 라디칼은 매우 중요한 산화제로, 대류권내 광화학 반응에 있어 그 역할이 핵심적이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 OH 라디칼의 정확한 농도를 측정하는 것은 대기의 산화능, 기후 변화 및 대기 중의 광화학 반응을 보다 정확히 이해하기 위해 매우 필요한 연구이다. 그러나 OH를 비롯한 HOx 라디컬의 농도 측정은 이들이 라디칼이기 때문에 매우 어려운 것이 사실이다. 즉, 이들은 대기 내에 존재하는 양이 절대적으로 적고 (OH: $10^{6}$molecules cm-$^3$, H $O_2$: $10^{8}$molecules cm-$^3$), 반응성이 커서 수명이 짧기 때문에 측정에 많은 어려움이 따른다.   • The spatial fuel vapor distribution of the homogeneous charge by a 6-hole injector was examined in a optically accessed single cylinder direct injection spark ignition(DISI) engine. The effects of in-cylinder charge motion, and fuel injection pressure, and coolant temperature were investigated using a planar LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder tumble flow played a little more effective role in the spatial fuel vapor distribution than the swirl flow during the compression stroke at 10 mm and 2 mm planes under cylinder head gasket and the increased fuel injection pressure activated spatial distributions of the fuel vapor. In additions, richer mixtures were concentrated around the cylinder wall by the increase of the coolant temperature.

  • Experiments have been conducted to investigate the effects of emulsified fuels on the spray characteristics and exhaust emissions in a diesel engine. Four different fuels were examined : diesel, emulsified fuels with water contents which were varied with 13, 15, and l7wt%. Characteristics of fuel spray were measured by an optical method, PLLIF(planar liquid laser induced fluorescence). Compared to diesel fuel, emulsified fuels which had relatively high kinematic viscosity showed smaller spray angle and longer spray tip penetration. The qualitative droplet distributions of emulsified fuels showed worse atomization process than that of diesel fuel. As the water contents were increased, PM and NOx could be reduced simultaneously. It was specially noted that the emulsified fuel with l7wt% water content was found to be the best in reducing rates, NOx 30% and PM 40%.

  • A non-intrusive measurement, Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence was employed to visualize and measure the fuel distribution of the non-reacting field at the burner exit of gas turbine combustor. Measurement techniques, image processing method and quantification procedure were presented. Also, concentration measurement with gas analyzer was carried out to verify the propriety of PLIF result. The PLIF result coincides well with gas analyzer measurement result. PLIF test result for several other conditions are mentioned as well.

  • The spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge of a high pressure 6-hole injector was examined in a single cylinder optical direct injection spark ignition(DISI) engine. The effects of in-cylinder charge motion, and fuel injection pressure, and coolant temperature were investigated using a planar LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder tumble flow played more effective role in the spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge than the swirl flow during the compression stroke and the fuel distribution area increased due to the activation of the fuel vaporization by the increase of the coolant temperature. But, the increase of the fuel supplying pressure could not change the pattern of the fuel vapor distribution against the expectation.
