Purpose : To observe effects of TKM (Traditional Korean Medicine) treatment for 2 patients who had verruca plana after having laser epilation of leg hair. Methods : We did retrospective chart review for 2 verucca plana patients who had been treated by TKM. TKM treatment included herbal treatment, herbal acupuncture and herbal ointment. Results : After TKM treatment, the patients' verucca plana remarkably disappeared and there was no recurrence. Conclusion : This study suggest that TKM may be an effective treatment for verucca plana.

Recently, lasers have become widely used throughout the medical treatment field. Several types of lasers have been used for the purpose of hair removal since the Alexandrite laser was approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for clinical epilation. In this study, a long-pulsed Alexandrite laser system for hair removal adopting a multi-discharge method in which three flash lamps are turned on consecutively was designed and fabricated. This laser system shows the technology that makes it possible to create extended pulse by turning on three flash lamps consecutively. With this technique, the pulse width can be varied from 4ms∼10ms. Then using this Alexandrite laser system with the pulse width 10ms and the beam size 7mm, hair removal was performed on the back portion of a human hand and leg. This study shows that treatment by the long-pulsed Alexandrite laser produces hair removal with no relevant side effects.

The nose is a complex three-dimensional structure and represents a major aesthetic focus of the face. As a gold standard for nasal soft tissue reconstruction, the 'forehead flap' provides reconstructive surgeons a robust pedicle and large amount of tissue to reconstruct almost any defect. However, during this process, some hair can be unintentionally introduced to the nose. Accordingly, laser hair removal is sometimes needed, but blood circulation and flap survival should be carefully monitored. Despite careful evaluation, a third-degree burn occurred in our patient that required eight weeks to heal. Here, we report on a burn resulting from epilation conducted 2 weeks after forehead flap for nasal reconstruction.

Background Thin hairs are critical to achieve natural result in female hairline correction surgery. However, there are few studies on the usefulness of hair thinning by intense pulsed light (IPL) after hairline correction surgery in East Asian females. Methods Hair thinning using IPL was performed in 54 women who had complained about thick hairs along the frontal hairline after hairline correction surgery. Patient mean age was 31.2 years old and patients were an average of 2.1 years post-hairline correction surgery. Initial treatment used 10 J, while second and third sessions were conducted with 10 to 15 J according to responsiveness to treatment. Results Mean thickness of individual hairs assessed before the procedure was $78.86{\mu}m$. The mean number of procedures was 1.6 per patient. Forty of 54 subjects (74%) achieved satisfactory hair thinning with only one procedure from 78.01 to $66.14{\mu}m$ after treatment. The measured thickness was $66.43{\mu}m$ at the end of the first year in patients who were satisfied after one procedure. Thirteen cases achieved satisfactory hair thinning after two sessions. Mean thickness was $74.44{\mu}m$ and $67.51{\mu}m$, before and after the second session. One case required a third session with 15J, thinning from 89.00 to $66.50{\mu}m$. Conclusions Hair thinning by IPL is a very useful method to provide a natural look after hairline correction surgery in East Asians, who have naturally thick hair.
